To love a bidet?

SunscreenCentral · 29/06/2022 21:27

one day, I will live in a house that suits me and it will include a bidet in my bathroom.

Hopping into bed with a lovely fresh undercarriage and clean feet also if you want a sluice is bliss.

I love bidets but am I alone? Not fashionable these days are they?

@Howeverdoyouneedme I'm vair posh and have a dedicated botty towel like a hand towel but everyone else just uses bog roll or their shower towel.

Littlebirdyouaresosweet · 29/06/2022 22:08

Away for the week end and out shopping ds suddenly and loudly announced he wanted a bidet....
Enthusiastically raving about them.
In a sport's shop.
He meant beanie...
As in a hat...
Glad it wasn't our local shop...

Can anyone recommend one? I need one!!!

Something like this. Grohe is quite a well known brand.

No non no. None of these botty powerwashers in my dream bathroom thank you

a little nozzle is all that's required and carry on fresh as a daisy 😊

We have one in our house. Was here when we moved in and wasn't long put in when bathroom was renovated. I have never used it. Maybe I'll try it

I would love one. We had one in a rented house and it was so nice to freshen up ~and if you position yourself right it is also very pleasant~

Yup, the unexpected extra.

I have some questions. I've seen these fancy things that slowly extend from the bog after you've taken a dump - or 'bowel movement', as some of you here might prefer - advertised:

  1. Don't they get covered in "poo water" dropping back down on them?
  2. How do you clean them? They seem to extend out and then retreat back to hide somewhere behind the toilet - covered in "poo water" to fester until next called upon.
  3. If there is a function to make them extend for cleaning and you bleach them, does the bleach go in them and then bleach the next persons bum when in use?
  4. How do you dry off after using them? Toilet paper will just ball up and give you paper clag nuts/claggies/cling-ons/winnits/dingleberries (*please use the appropriate name for your geographical location)? Do you have a special towel and is it hung in a specific area or a diferent colour to any hand towels, etc? One per person? What happens if you have guests? Are they advised not to use certain towels?
Fully admit to being a bum and poo troll in respect of this but they're genuine questions. So many questions.
SwedishEdith · 29/06/2022 22:31

That Grohe one "You can then culminate your essential bathroom moments". 💩= an "essential bathroom moment".

Aren't those cold water though? Can't work out how they could be warm water.

JustTheOneSwan · 29/06/2022 22:14

Ha ha ha - that advert!

JustTheOneSwan · 29/06/2022 22:47

Settle down, he doesn't come with it Edith 😜
It's a mixer with hot and cold feed and a thermostat knob, like a shower over a bath so pleasantly warm.

Dunno about the robobogs with autoarms but no paper winnits it doesn't get as wet as you imagine you don't wet all the area just targeted crack. Actually the winnit risk is greatly reduced because you've just washed it so it's pristine.
If your having a full lady wash you use the same towel you'd use after a shower or blot dry, maybe four sheets.

Mummy7777 · 29/06/2022 22:51

Love love them!

Oceanus · 29/06/2022 22:51

You're alone. I've had them removed from two different houses. They serve me no purpose other than having a place to put wet umbrellas when they're dripping.

perenniallymessy · 29/06/2022 23:02

I had a Japanese style toilet seat fitted in my downstairs loo. I love it and will not poo anywhere else now. I always seem to need a poo about ten minutes after I shower so it's nice to be able to get properly clean again afterwards! It does have a blow dry function but I tend to just dry with loo roll.

I spent time in Finland so got used to the bidet showers there, then travelled in Japan and decided the bidet toilet was the way forward.

Both DS now use the 'bum washer'. I fear they may never move out as neither student digs nor flat shares tend to come complete with bottom washing facilities Grin

JaceLancs · 29/06/2022 23:19

I find a bidet is also great for shaving my legs 😉

Stressybetty · 29/06/2022 23:24

My dad was mad about bidets. We are renovating my parents house and there are three of them upstairs partly working

Frankola · 29/06/2022 23:29

My dad told me they were for washing your feet in as a child. I didnt realise people actually do that though, so now I feel much better!

FangsForTheMemory · 29/06/2022 23:31

Don’t you get water everywhere with bum guns?

MumsnetMafia · 29/06/2022 23:33

Sorry if this is not allowed. But do you do a cursory wipe first and then use the bum gun? Or straight in with the jets? Is soap involved? Does your hand aim it from in between your legs or turned around and sprayed from the back?

Love the concept but cannot get my head around the logistics.

SwedishEdith · 29/06/2022 23:35

Mr Finnish man is demonstrating how to use the bum gun. (Sorry, I can't stop sniggering at this image 😄)

GoldenMalicious · 29/06/2022 23:36

We recently fitted a Biobidet toilet seat which washes and dries you. It also warms the seat and has a little fan to help keep nasty whiffs at bay, as well as a ‘turbo wash’ option which shoots a particularly targeted jet of water to help move reluctant poop. It’s a thing of wonder and we will be getting one for the other loo when we refit the bathroom. It’s not much use for foot washing though!

1stWorldProblems · 29/06/2022 23:36

We're putting one in our new extension. Household of 3 x women so very handy for washing our bits plus DH & DD1 don't bother with shoes for most of summer so will improve feet washing before bed. My parents have a now sadly broken one which the cat likes to sleep in.

SouperNoodle · 29/06/2022 23:37

For all you bidet/bum gun users, do you still wipe after doing your business before washing or do you just squirt it off with water?? 😅😅 I can't imagine not using loo roll

Apollonia1 · 29/06/2022 23:44

I used to live in Spain and LOVE a bidet!
Makes you feel so fresh. I'd love one in my current house, but no room to install it.

Vikinga · 29/06/2022 23:46

Had them growing up. Didnt use them for after the toilet but to wash bottoms and feet instead of having a bath or a shower. Also handy for soaking and handwashing clothes.
