WHAT VARIANT OF POLLEN IS THIS????

Omg has anyone been struggling with their hay fever over this past week?! What the hell is in the pollen this year.

I’ve taken my usual nasal spray and tablets and have had to up the dosage. I’m certain that I’ve sneezed more than 100 times. I want to pull my eyes out and my nose is running non stop. I also have asthma so this hay fever is just killing me. Anyone else??

Probably just grass as usual. That's the biggest culprit. With all this good weather, it's all come out at once.

cottagegardenflower · 17/06/2022 18:20

Just doing the garden is making me use my nasal spray as well as the daily antihistamine

Intransigentcat · 17/06/2022 18:23

This is the worst I've been for years! Seems awful this year. I need to up my flipping pollen tablet intake. I'm already taking more antihistamines than usual.

LondonQueen · 17/06/2022 18:31

It's been awful for me too this year, taking anti histamines, eye drops and a nasal spray!

Jott · 17/06/2022 18:32

We had a relatively mild winter that meant everything had a longer than usual growing season. DH had to cut the grass a couple of times this winter which is unheard off. Add in the warm, wet weather encouraging even more growth and all the windy weather blowing it around and its a hay-fever disaster.

Know how anti-histamines can make children sleepy? Did you know that in some children it has the opposite effect? Guess which of my DC I've had to give antihistamines today.... hoping to be able to peel them off the ceiling and get them calmed down sometime before midnight.

feckingknackered · 17/06/2022 18:44

My hayfever today is the worst it's ever been!! My nose is the worst, it is streaming constantly. I've had well over suggested doses of antihistamines and they've not touched it. I feel awful!!

FatOaf · 17/06/2022 18:50

Around here it's all the lime trees in the park. Could be grass, weeds, oilseed rape... Depends what there is a lot of around where you live.

lunar1 · 17/06/2022 18:53

I've never had hay fever this bad, I feel like my eyelids and throat have been replaced with sandpaper.

I'd be interested to know how many calories sneezing burns off after today!

SmallDucks · 17/06/2022 19:01

My son is the same.

I think it's because they let the grass verges grow now.

Franklyfrost · 17/06/2022 19:02

Pollution makes hay fever worse.

EweCee · 17/06/2022 19:04

I take high dose antihistamines every day for another condition and haven't had hayfever as a result in years. But this year! OMG, I have never had hayfever so badly - I was prescribed steroids on Monday because I had such an acute hayfever reaction over last weekend and the continued congestion has given me an ear infection and now chest infection - and I'm still bloody sneezing and streaming!!! I'm miserable....

fudgecat · 17/06/2022 19:07

Yep I've not been this bad in years, can't wait for the rain tomorrow

Throckmorton · 17/06/2022 19:07

I don't know, but is anyone else producing neon yellow snot? Bloody hope it's not just me!

wibblewobbleball · 17/06/2022 19:08

Yes it's awful. I read that it's because of the weather earlier in the growing season meaning that the pollen is more potent that usual! It's so miserable

keeptalkinghappytalk · 17/06/2022 19:08

Definitely far worse than usual… the eyes!!!

User6761 · 17/06/2022 19:08

Same, this is the worst I've been in years. I actually got through the last 3 summers without taking antihistamines (trying to conceive/pregnancy/breastfeeding). This year I'm back on the cetirazine but still feeling miserable - it's my eyes more than anything. Feel like I want to rip them out 😂

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 17/06/2022 19:11

Are you sure it's pollen. My allergies suddenly got a lot worse. Irritating the heck out of me. Turned out I had covid. But the only symptoms I has was my allergies annoying the crap out of me.

Bananaman123 · 17/06/2022 19:16

Haven’t had bad hay fever in years until this week. Want to scratch my eyes out so constant eye drops, nasal spray and double the tablets. Also my skin on my ankles and arms are mega itchy. Can’t avoid going out as need to walk the dog.

IpanemaBelle · 17/06/2022 19:21

This is the worst I’ve had for over a decade. It was very bad when I was in the Netherlands last week so it’s not just UK.

SaltandPepper22 · 17/06/2022 19:31

It’s been awful!

I’ve been taking two one-a-days all week just to cope (not recommended on the packet!)

skgnome · 17/06/2022 19:34

Yes, double dose antihistamines here
eye drops…. Last week my eyes and throat felt like sandpaper
and my skin was soooo itchy!!!
feel your pain

MiniCooperLover · 17/06/2022 19:35

I read a few days ago that warm winds over Florida had mixed with pollen to make a kind of 'super pollen event'. I sit at my desk and see little chunks of pollen float in the window. My 11 year old is really suffering too and he's on as much as he can have.

LakieLady · 17/06/2022 19:40

I don't normally get hay fever at all at this time of year (spring and autumn are my bad times: tree pollen and fungal spores) but mine's been dreadful. The inside of my nose is so sore, I feel like I've been snorting caustic soda.

I wonder if councils' policy of not cutting the grass on roadside verges, so it gets long enough to flower, has made it worse.

My DSS reckons it's something to do with Covid vaccine, but he's a bit of a fruit loop.

baroqueandblue · 17/06/2022 19:41

I usually get my yearly hell of hay-fever throughout late March to late May, and this year has been no exception.

Only, this year it hasn't stopped and is currently driving me up several walls 🤧
