WHAT VARIANT OF POLLEN IS THIS????

Omg has anyone been struggling with their hay fever over this past week?! What the hell is in the pollen this year.

I’ve taken my usual nasal spray and tablets and have had to up the dosage. I’m certain that I’ve sneezed more than 100 times. I want to pull my eyes out and my nose is running non stop. I also have asthma so this hay fever is just killing me. Anyone else??

I don't normally suffer from hayfever at all- DH does and takes the tablets etc everyday but this week (especially today) I have had awful symptoms. Made the mistake of standing under a tree ( for the shade) for 10 mins and wheezed/coughed my way back into the office with streaming eyes and nose.
Fine when back indoors but it must be powerful to affect me - shocking.

EpicMugs · 17/06/2022 19:47

It's the Getting On My Fucking Nerves variant.

It can sod off.

pedropony76 · 17/06/2022 19:49

So it isn’t just me then!! I agree, my hay fever has been the worse it’s ever been. Yes, the eyes and the throat!! What the bloody hell. It’s unbearable.

For the posters that have said they had itchy skin. Omg. Is that related to hay fever then?? Around a week and a half ago I had extremely itchy skin. Literally everything was itching non stop and I really considered going to the GP because nothing helped it. It’s so weird other people have commented this as I didn’t know it was related to hay fever/the weather at all

I don't know, but soooo many more people have hay fever this summer. About 35% more (than the national average,) I heard today. Including people who don't usually get hay fever.

The pollen is probably mixed with covid! 😮😬😖

MandyMotherOfBrian · 17/06/2022 19:55

DH and eldest DD have never been so bad as now. Dd is trying to negotiate A Levels and DH has been so bad he’s actually taken to his bed. They’re both taking everything they can for it and I’ve even gone and bought a (very) local honey, just in case it might work 😬

YetAnotherWalk · 17/06/2022 19:56

All suffering badly here and the youngest the worst Sad

CustardGoodJamGoodMeatGood · 17/06/2022 19:58

It's horrendous this year.. poor 2.5yo DD could hardly see this afternoon because her eyes were so puffy and streaming

Bunnycat101 · 17/06/2022 20:01

It’s my eyes that are killing me this week. Normally I get a combo of hay fever and eczema together but so far my eczema hasn’t started.today I’ve wanted to claw my eyes out and I have never had so much snot. Gahh- glad I’m not the only one though.

Sapphirensteel · 17/06/2022 20:02

It’s bad this year, something to do with the weather, wind drifts and humidity, don’t understand the science of it but the itching on my arms and lower legs is driving me mad. Seriously considering wearing my wellies to walk the dog. Add in the scratchy throat, itchy eyes, sneezing, coughing ( no, done umpteen Covid tests, just in case—all negative) it’s miserable :(

ZarquonsSandals · 17/06/2022 20:05

Seems to be the pollen in 'utility grass that gets me and DC. Verges here are rife with wall barley which they've just cut.
My garden has a "meadow" of local and native species, and I can walk through there without any problems (same for DC).

ithoughtitmihtbenicetochat · 17/06/2022 20:09

Suffering here too!

I am having the hay fever jab tomorrow. I had one last year and it cured my hayfever completely.
Could you try that?

Stopdropnroll · 17/06/2022 20:18

You need fexofenadine, you can buy it over the counter now in supermarkets etc the brand is Allevia. Best price I've found is sainsburys 30 tabs for £6.50

ArticSaviour · 17/06/2022 20:26

Bastard cunting superpollen. It is the only explanation.

TolkiensFallow · 17/06/2022 20:31

I am MISERABLE

Usually have a few antihistamines around this time of year but I’m 6 weeks pregnant and can’t take anything. Or possibly I can but I way to paranoid to.

It is gross.

MsOllie · 17/06/2022 20:33

I'm allergic to heat and exercise so I've been on vast amounts of antihistamines every day since I was about 11
Now I'm on an injection so I've stopped my antihistamines
Turns out I do have sodding hay fever GrinBlush

BreatheAndFocus · 17/06/2022 20:49

Yep, been annoying all week but bloody evil today. I went out to stock up on every hayfever thing going and I could hardly speak I was sneezing so much. I had water pouring out of my eyes too. I wanted to rip my head off. That and the heavy heat was unbearable.

I think it’s been caused by lots of grass-cutting and cutting of the flowery verges after No Mow May. The park has been cut here, all the verges locally, the hedges, plus people’s lawns too.

Nidan2Sandan · 17/06/2022 21:00

My hayfever has been up and down the last couple of weeks, occasional bad day but overall manageable.

But today, oh my God. I want to rip my eyes out and scratch the skin off my face. My chin is super itchy, why, why the chin!

Nose wont stop running, and I have a phobia of having a blocked nose so then it makes me panicky which doesnt help

I use sudafed nasal spray to clear the blocked nose, but then after a month of daily usage I get the kick back and usually have to spend a couple of uncomfortable days not using it until my nose starts to unblock by itself again.

I'm just miserable and DH is trying to give me the nod nod, wink wink but no chance of that happening!

You know the report that the Chinese detected an alien signal a few days ago?

It was saying 'Hope you like our flowers'.

ALIEN POLLEN ATTACK PRECURSOR TO INVASION

I didn’t even know that was a thing. Thank you for educating me! I’ll certainly look into it

Are you sure it's pollen. My allergies suddenly got a lot worse. Irritating the heck out of me. Turned out I had covid. But the only symptoms I has was my allergies annoying the crap out of me.

This was me this week. I thought I had the worst hay fever on earth. Then tested for work and it’s covid.

FOTB · 17/06/2022 21:41

I've had such a bad time over the last few days - my eyeballs hurt, my throat feels funny, my ears feel funny, there's a pain in my chest, my nose is sore, my head hurts...

If there's a chance it's "just" hay fever and not a cold coming on, I'd actually feel better about that because I can't pass on hay fever. Have been testing for Covid and it's coming back clear.

Did something happen in the last couple of days? Some type of pollen spike? I'm allergic to all pollen, so I don't know why I've only just been triggered.

I get prescription Fexofenadine and prescription opatanol eye drops but neither are doing much this year. I took cetirizine yesterday as well as the Fexofenadine as I was so bad, which you’re not supposed to do and felt a bit better for about 2hrs before all symptoms came back.
