Your child who is 12 or under is away for the night. They call you and say that the person in charge of them has left and there is an emergency they cannot handle. You have had a bottle of wine/or 4 fine/or 6 beers etc. There is no option of walking/taxi/ambulance/calling someone to help. Would you get in the car and drive to them? About 30 minutes away.

No, in no circumstances would I drink and drive. If it’s an emergency call the police. If not get a friend to help.

Notimeforaname · 15/06/2022 20:45

If they need medical assistance then an ambulance/police must be called.

Meraas · 15/06/2022 20:45

Why is there no option to call the police?

Pumperthepumper · 15/06/2022 20:45

I wouldn’t drive no. What’s the emergency? Why is there no option of a taxi?

Notimeforaname · 15/06/2022 20:45

Do not drive after drinking!!

MrsTerryPratchett · 15/06/2022 20:46

Absolutely not. But I would assume there was a work around.

MrsTerryPratchett · 15/06/2022 20:46

Call SS?

alottie · 15/06/2022 20:47

Nooo absolutely wouldn't drive I'd tell them to go to a neighbour / 999 if there was an emergency and call the person who is supposed to be looking after them

reallypuzzledoverthis · 15/06/2022 20:47

Ring a sober person to take you to them

dudsville · 15/06/2022 20:47

Waaaaay now info is needed about the level of risk, but another option is phoning other parents and my own friends and family.

luxxlisbon · 15/06/2022 20:48

There is no scenario where the only option is to drive drunk.

BaaCake · 15/06/2022 20:48

I would encourage the 12 year old to dial 999 if it was a true emergancy

cantwontwouldnt · 15/06/2022 20:48

There is no police/ambulance/fire service. This isn't a real scenario by the way just curious.

BaaCake · 15/06/2022 20:48

Absolutely do not drink and drive

Vapeyvapevape · 15/06/2022 20:49

There must be a taxi firm you can call - I wouldn't drink and drive. Depending on the emergency I would call the police or knock on a neighbours door and ask for a lift.

Why isn't there?

GetOffTheTableMabel · 15/06/2022 20:50

No. Because I might create a bigger emergency. Even if nobody got hurt, I could lose my license. How would my child feel if I injured or killed someone’s? Would they also blame themselves forever? Probably. If I end up in prison, how does that child feel?

Ffs. Even in a fake scenario, why wouldn’t there be any police or ambulance?

hangrylady · 15/06/2022 20:50

There is no way I would drink and drive. I'd call police or a friend/neighbour

BaaCake · 15/06/2022 20:51

Why are you making up an extreme fake scenario? What has bought this on?

Vapeyvapevape · 15/06/2022 20:51

What's the emergency in this non real scenario?

Vallmo47 · 15/06/2022 20:51

If a drunk driver killed an innocent child and quoted the above as his or her reason for driving drunk, would you be the 1 to excuse it OP? I certainly would not. It’s a no brainer.

I think it needs to be remotely realistic. The answer is no, you call the emergency services

RepublicOfNarnia · 15/06/2022 20:51

Is this a very roundabout thought experiment of trying to determine what would have to be circumstances at which someone considers drink driving?

Sweetmotherofallthatisholyabov · 15/06/2022 20:52

Call the parents, my parents, knock on neighbours, class WhatsApp group. I'd literally call anyone I could think of before I'd even consider getting in the car. It's never worth the risk.
