The bloke out of Elbow, but I quite like Edith Piaf too. And Ella Fitzgerald. Teenage me would have said Bono.
Flipside of this coin is Mariah Carey and Celine Dion. Both give me the rage.

Seren85 · 15/06/2022 01:39

Stevie Nicks

MrsTerryPratchett · 15/06/2022 01:39

Otis Redding. Man's a god.

NorthernLights5 · 15/06/2022 01:46

The lead singer of Coheed and Cambria.

MissFancyDay · 15/06/2022 01:57

Dusty Springfield

ReeseWitherfork · 15/06/2022 02:01

I’m not a fan of her music but am captivated every time I hear Miley Cyrus sing. Beautiful voice. Also love hearing Elvis and Steven Tyler.

Renniesfixeverything · 15/06/2022 02:10

I couldn't pick between Tori Amos and Joni Mitchell. I love lots of singers voices but those two are the ones that really make me feel something.

avamiah · 15/06/2022 02:18

I’m a huge fan of AC/DC , I was too young to see Bon Scott live before he passed away but his voice was amazing and very individual.

hazandduck · 15/06/2022 02:25

Etta James or Whitney.

I also randomly adore Tino Rossi.

Oh and Gregory Porter. His voice is like being carried gently away on a smooth river sigh

Don’t you just love voices that you can tell singing is like breathing to that person? Zero effort required.

Anystarinthesky · 15/06/2022 02:36

George Michael

avamiah · 15/06/2022 02:38

@hazandduck ,
Yes Whitney was in a class of her own, so very shocking how she passed away so young and her daughter as well.
The Bodyguard is a brilliant film and it shows her at her very best .

Defiantlynot41 · 15/06/2022 02:50

Karen Carpenter- like a river flowing

RhannionKPSS · 15/06/2022 02:51

Kate Bush & Nick Drake

MoChridhe · 15/06/2022 03:33

Celine Dion

ShirleyJackson · 15/06/2022 03:37

If we’re talking the actual sound of the voice but not the actual songs, it would have to be Karen Carpenter. She had a voice like a velvet bell.

Nat King Cole or Otis Redding for the blokes.

ShirleyJackson · 15/06/2022 03:37

Or Bill Withers.

youcantparktheresir · 15/06/2022 03:38

Pink

Yiayoula · 15/06/2022 03:44

Elvis , Leonard Cohen and Andrea Bocelli.

For different reasons, and depending on how I’m feeling at the time.
If it absolutely has to be just one, then Elvis.

ShandaLear · 15/06/2022 04:00

Conor Mason from Nothing But Thieves. I don’t know how his voice does what it does.

Minisarerustbuckets · 15/06/2022 04:01

Patsy Cline, Karen Carpenter or Ronnie Spector for lassies . Otis Redding or Steve Marriot for guys

Ducky88 · 15/06/2022 04:14

Jeff Buckley 😍

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 15/06/2022 04:23

Joan Baez

3luckystars · 15/06/2022 04:27

that’s a tough one! Some amazing ones named so far….

Tracy Chapmans voice is one that stands out for me, with her songs really lasting the test of time.

James Taylor though, I’d have to pick him as my all time favourite. Instant calm.

groovergirl · 15/06/2022 04:56

Not a question to be answered with a single name, OP!
Kate Bush, Paul Weller, Dusty Springfield, Kate Ceberano, Lea Michele (from Glee), Marilyn Monroe for her croony lyric mezzo, Stevie Nicks for her inimitable contralto, Michael Hutchence (INXS) singing "Shine Like It Does", the tragically underrated Phyllis Nelson, and the Brazilians Gal Costa and Marisa Monte.
A special mention to Jimmy Barnes for having the vocal control to sound like a rough 'n' ready man of the working people yet deeply tuneful in Don Walker's poetic songs for Cold Chisel as well as the Motown classics. Onya, Barnesy!

Michael Jackson ❤️
