The bloke out of Elbow, but I quite like Edith Piaf too. And Ella Fitzgerald. Teenage me would have said Bono.
Flipside of this coin is Mariah Carey and Celine Dion. Both give me the rage.

Crikey - we have very similar tastes!

(It’s Guy Garvey.)

Bruno Mars 😍

Simon Fowler, singer from Ocean Colour Scene. His voice is absolutely beautiful. Some of the acoustic stuff live is amazing, especially when he sings the acoustic version of The Circle.

And I LOVE Alice Cooper’s voice live.

PAFMO · 15/06/2022 06:12

For technique, probably Whitney.
For raw power: Ann Wilson, Grace Slick.
For that extra wow factor: Stevie Nicks

BeautifulWar · 15/06/2022 06:14

On sound, definitely George Michael. I do love Lana Del Ray's voice too and Dusty Springfield.

There's a musical theatre actress called Joanna Ampil who has the most beautiful voice.

SuperSange · 15/06/2022 06:15

George Michael, Whitney Houston, Kate bush. A recent revelation is Brandon Flowers singing acoustically-sends shivers up my spine.

DestinyIsAll · 15/06/2022 06:16

Lots of singers that I really love, e.g., Stevie Nicks, watch her sing Rhiannon live in the 1976 Midnight Special. I love Bowie too.

My longtime favourite is Kelly Jones from Stereophonics. I’ve seen them/him live so many times and he’s amazing. Still get goosebumps when he sings my favourite song 25 years later.

Fedupofthis123 · 15/06/2022 06:23

I have so many but in terms of what I like in a voice it’s got to be Brian Fallon! I read a comment once that was like ‘the man practically bleeds when he sings’ and it’s true. You can feel everything he’s felt through his songs. Just raw emotion.

On another flip of the coin I recently got back into the ‘emo’ music I loved through my teens and rediscovered Panic at the Disco. The music style has changed dramatically but Brendon Urie’s voice is exceptional. I was floored by some of his live performances.

TibetanTerrah · 15/06/2022 06:25

I have a few, but today I'm gonna say Sade Grin

malificent7 · 15/06/2022 06:28

Freddie Mercury
Amy Winehouse
Frank Sinatra

I admit Lana Del Ray has a great voice too. Wish I could sing!

Welshwabbit · 15/06/2022 06:28

Agnetha and Frida from ABBA. If I had to pick just one, Frida. Next on the list is Emmylou Harris.

SilkandSteel1 · 15/06/2022 06:35

Agnetha and Frida (Abba)
