To be sick of "Crap Attempt At Neutrality" threads?

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 12/06/2022 19:43

Admittedly I am a right grump atm, but this is really irritating me now.

Fucking Person A and Person B. Fucking I'm not saying which one I am as I want it to be impartial. Fucking let's call them Sarah and Paul.

Fuck OFF. It's usually glaringly obvious which one the OP is, or it's too vague (usually with a big drip feed later) to even tell what's actually going on. You can't present a neutral scenario because you aren't bloody neutral. You're posting in AIBU - am I being unreasonable? If you want to know if you are BU - just explain properly! Just say who you are and what's going on - if you are Person A you won't even have a full insight into Person B's mindset anyway.

I think these posters should be banned for life Grin also obvious reverse thread posters. Off you fuck. Go to Netmums or somewhere.

AIBU to feel this way?

Agreed!! (But I'm a right grump tonight too!) (Maybe we need some wine and an early night OP!!!)

SoupDragon · 12/06/2022 19:48

Person A (Elphedra) thinks you need to lie down in a darkened room
Person B (Ramese) thinks you're right.

im not saying which person I am.

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 12/06/2022 19:48

There is usually a formula for the answer anyway.

Person A = OP
Person B = "Sarah" - usually the ex-wife of Person A's DH.

DH should be Person C and is the one being unreasonable although he doesn't even get a mention. Let's blame Person B.

Thread start + 10 mins = massive drip feed

Thread Start + 20 mins of BU = flounce.

Extra points for "wow I heard MN was bitchy and you are..."

Agreed and when they try so hard to keep the sex out of it so there's a long rambling post about someone they keep referring to as 'they'.

Sometimes it's confusing because halfway through you wonder if you've got it wrong and 'they' actually means more than one person.

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 12/06/2022 19:52

Oh don't get me started on they Grin

Also, the YABU/YANBU answer is usually hugely dictated by something really important like Person B's job or health, but no details are given about this because it's outing.

OP posts:
teablanket · 12/06/2022 19:52

"let's call them Sarah and Paul" grates on me. Call them whatever, a SWAT team isn't going to barge into your living room because you didn't make a false name disclaimer on a mumsnet post. 😅

Yes, every hobby is very outing and can't be named. And if it's ever revealed, it's something like "my DH likes running". Must be my neighbour Bill, he's the only man in the UK known to run. Fact.

Wordlecurdle · 12/06/2022 19:55

There is a reason why posters do this on this site…

and it’s usually because it’s a man posting it.

LuaDipa · 12/06/2022 19:56

I was going to say that people can post what they want but your formula is so spot on that I’m still laughing so yanbu.

KatherineJaneway · 12/06/2022 19:57

YANBU. So annoying.

Yea, I have noticed the use of “they” recently instead of he/she. Really confusing, like you say. Very annoying.

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 12/06/2022 19:58

Half the time when someone uses ‘they’ they’ll forget at least once & drop a she or he in.

Snowflakes1122 · 12/06/2022 19:58

Yes* not yea 🤦🏼‍♀️

Don't be silly. Those threads are always obvious as they start with "So ladies, I'm after your opinions on this" or end with "just for full disclosure, I am a man in case it makes any difference".

No it doesn't. FUCK OFF.

This perfectly describes 70% of AIBU.

I also love the "outing" hobbies and jobs. 😂

WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles · 12/06/2022 20:04

Oooh this is satisfying. I feel much better now. Person B just popped their Winkhead round the door and said "do you want a cup of tea" so I must have had a proper Angry face on while I was typing.

your thread is silly. Lighten up, of course my comment was silly. Intentionally so, and Made in reply to your silly thread.

fuck off ya self ya daft bint

lightisnotwhite · 12/06/2022 20:11

Ha ha ha spot on.

I quite like the whole scenario building though. Shows they’ve put thought into their angst. Well except for the massive drip feed they thought we could work out from our hive mind.

TheHateIsNotGood · 12/06/2022 20:11

I play a game with myself before opening many threads with 'difficult relative', etc in the title - often I bet it's an MIL/ILs thread - and usually within a few posts, my bet is often correct.

FYI - I am not an MIL myself and nor do I have any.

PrawnToast5 · 12/06/2022 20:14

OP: These are just my friends but Person A thinks Person B is BU. I don't have any opinion...

MN: Person A is being unreasonable

OP: Um NO because insert very individual and personal understanding of the motivations of Person A

SpangledShambles · 12/06/2022 20:21

Thank fuck. An amusing AIBU thread. Very rare these days.

Or they omit the child's age from the OP and don't return for ages!

The age is nearly always relevant 😐

Inklingpot · 12/06/2022 20:25

I dislike those type of threads mostly because they usually become absurdly complex and hard to work out who did what to whom.

So let’s call them A, B, C, D, E, F, H,M. AIBU to think that C should have offered B and M a cup of tea instead of E and F when A has known H longer than she’s known B and didn’t even offer her a cake. F looked really annoyed and then C said what about D’s medical condition which means she can’t reach for a cake but has to be handed one on a plate, but M also feels that she should have been offfered a cake but before D. A thought C was being ridiculous but AIBU to think that d should of known?

<brain explodes>

Assistanttotheregionalmanager · 12/06/2022 20:26

Totally agree with all this. I particularly like the threads that are things like I work with xxx in an office (name change as its outing) - no it bloody isnt! Millions of people called xxx work in offices.

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 12/06/2022 20:27

YANBU the threads you describe are just a ridiculous as the ones in which DP's hobby (which is always cycling) cannot be named for some fucking weird reason.
