To think she has the dress?

QuestionableMouse · 10/06/2022 22:07

Sold a dress on Vinted. The buyer says they never received it, despite yodel showing they'd attempted delivery three times then managed to deliver it the fourth time. She's saying she hasn't received it and it demanding that I return her money (I can't, it's held by Vinted until delivery is confirmed).

She's also refusing to even look at the tracking info to tell me if the depot is anywhere near her. I also asked her to check around outside but she'd refused to do that too!

I know Yodel gets a bad rap but I've never had a problem before. My feeling is that she has the dress and just wants her money too. I'm now having to jump through hoops to get the money from Vinted and honestly, it's really annoying.

Aibu to think she has the dress?

What proof do you have from Yodel that they delivered it? Photo? Signature? Why would she need to look at the tracking info? If Yodel says it's delivered then that's surely what the tracking info says? Why does it matter where the depot is if Yodel have delivered it to her house?

Lou98 · 10/06/2022 22:16

Yodel should have proof of delivery - if they don't have that then you'll need to refund her.

For what it's worth, my MIL was waiting on a delivery from yodel about a month ago, they said they attempted delivery and no one was in even though she was in waiting, they then said they'd delivered to her neighbour across the road, she went and checked with them and they said they never received it but Yodel kept saying that was the number it was delivered to. She asked for proof of delivery and eventually they said it hadn't been delivered and delivery would be attempted the next day which she did finally get it the next day. I'd never had any issues with them before that and neither had she. It does sound like your buyer is being difficult if she's refusing to check outside etc but she could be being genuine, id keep on at Yodel for proof it was delivered

QuestionableMouse · 10/06/2022 22:16

It literally says "delivered by Jess*" on the tracking page. And when I rang them to find out what was going on, they confirmed that it had been delivered. No pic, but I've never had that with Yodel. So they're saying it's been delivered but the buyer is saying she's never received it.

I'd like her to at least tell me if the last depot is anywhere near her address. And she's refusing to check outside her house (because I've had some deliveries "delivered" aka left it bloody stupid places!) I'm just asking her to work with me a bit to solve the problem but all I'm getting from her is "I want my money back" which is totally out of my control at this point!

*not the actual name!

If memory serves me correct she has to declare the problem with vinted. It'll likely have said its delivered she can then click 'i have a problem' I'd just leave it to her to sort. Just tell her you cant do anything. Vinted hold the money she will have to raise a complaint with them. Then don't waste your energy anymore.

Moosake · 10/06/2022 22:24

Why is she refusing to just look outside her house? I guess she might be agoraphobic?

Yep she's done all that. I had to check the store I sent it from as it had apparently been sent back there (per Vinted). It hasn't. I also had to fill a form in to hopefully get some money back.

I'm mostly just peeved that she's refusing to engage with me at all and essentially won't do anything to help the situation - which makes me think she has the dress!

I've no idea - her profile pic shows her sitting on a beach so I doubt it!

She also has zero reviews which isn't making me feel any more confident!

Isn't this covered by the insurance on Vinted anyway? I recently had a parcel go astray which was marked as delivered to me. Whether it ever was, or whether it was nicked off the doorstep I don't know, but I didn't see it. They sent me various forms to fill in and then I got a refund but the seller also got their money as they had posted it. But as you say, you can't do anything about it as you don't have the money to refund. If you have done your side you should get your money eventually. Sounds like maybe she has missed the two day window to raise an issue with Vinted and she's just trying it on.

Bit of a leap 🤣🤣 most likely just a CF!

Try and access her social media page. See if there are pictures of her wearing the dress!!

I wish I could! Her username isn't her name, if that makes sense!

It's frustrating me because I did everything right and she can't even shift herself to look in her garden!

Didn’t you get her real name with the address details?

anxiousmumagain · 10/06/2022 22:40

So weird that she won't even look outside for it, how odd.

I've had a parcel go missing before too via Vinted except I was the sender. It was showing as "in transit" with Yodel for ages after i posted it, and the buyer was saying she didn't have it. I got a message from Vinted saying by x date your parcel will be marked as lost and you'll receive compensation. By that date I got compensation credited to my account to the value of the item I had sent, and I assume the buyer had her money released back to her too as I never heard from her again.

That's been my only experience with a missing item on Vinted, but in my case it was never marked as delivered in the first place, just "in transit". Still no idea what happened to it!

Teakind · 10/06/2022 22:44

Vinted should be able to help you with this and not leave you out of pocket.
Yodel are terrible though! I was in the process of filling out the forms with Vinted to claim for a missing item when my DH found it by chance behind a hedge (not even close to the front door). Ridiculous.

@xoxFulhamMUMMY the buyer chooses the courier, not the seller. You can turn off the ability to choose certain couriers though, I have for post office as it's such a hassle to get there.

I've had a parcel go missing with yodel, they said it had been delivered to my house.
Turned out they'd delivered it next door both houses clearly numbered, yodel weren't going to do anything.

FreakyCCTV · 10/06/2022 23:12

At Christmas I bought my son a laptop. Had an email from Yodel to say it was en route. Didn’t get delivered when it was supposed to and when I chased it, the tracking info changed to delivered with no proof or info. I contacted where i bought it from who said I had to wait ten days for them to investigate. In that time I had to order another as it was too close to Christmas to wait. Apparently they could track information on the laptop and knew I hadn’t received it so issued a refund.

The buyer chooses the shipping method, not the seller.

Can we please not get diverted about the merits of Vinted and Yodel?

I've never had a problem with Yodel before this, and my local driver is absolutely lovely.

Can't see her on Instagram or Facebook (the one pic that looks like her is set to private). The name from the label is super common unfortunately, and I don't really use any other SM.

She has no reviews and no items for sale though - is that weird, or am I being too suspicious?
