To say 6.5 inches is too big

Sallypally0 · 04/06/2022 20:27

Why are there so few smartphones available in a smaller size? I am trying to find a phone under £300 with a screen closer to 5 inches but nearly everything is 6.5inches these days. Surely I am not the only person to want to carry around a compact phone and not a borderline tablet device?

Money ready to spend and nobody that I can see has a product that I am looking for. Can anybody recommend a phone? I only need to get rid of my current phone because after 5 years the battery life is near on zilch.

I don’t like massive phones either. I want something small and practical.

(quiet at the back there)

I LOVE my iphone SE. Cheap, does everything, no one is likely to nick it. Ideal.

Summerhillsquare · 04/06/2022 20:38

Try a Fairphone, nice size and fair trade minerals and no child/slave labour in its production.

Mirrorball2022 · 04/06/2022 20:39

I have an iPhone mini( 12) smaller than the massive phones now but slightly bigger than an SE which I had before. It’s perfect for me.

Wagsandclaws · 04/06/2022 20:40

I've got an iPhone 12 mini - I had an XR before that and it was so big and hurt my fingers to hold.

I got the mini so I could fit it in most of my bags as I've quite a few and they are on the smaller side also much, much easier to hold.

Nix32 · 04/06/2022 20:41

Just replace the battery - much less hassle.

OhmygodDont · 04/06/2022 20:42

The iPhone se is pretty small
isnt it.

wasn’t what I was expecting when I opened this thread I’ll admit Grin

Nice click-bait title @Sallypally0 Wink

I don't like big phones and I have a Samsung a41. It was the smallest one I could find that was actually in stock anywhere.

It's a great phone.

parietal · 04/06/2022 20:44

iPhone SE is the smallest possible and is great. You can get second hand to save money. DH has fairphone which is nice but still big. There are some from Nokia that are small and cheap ish

Sallypally0 · 04/06/2022 20:44

Thanks for making suggestions. But please take note that I do not want to spend any more than £300. None of the suggestions so far ar very helpfu..

I have a Samsung Galaxy S8. Battery life is still good (I charge every 2 days).

Sallypally0 · 04/06/2022 20:47

@Nix32

This is preferable.

Unfortunately the manufactuer will not supply genuine batterys for sale to the public. No doubt to try and ensure people replace the whole phone.

Can you let me know where sells genuine batteries?

Glad it wasn't just me!

vipersnest1 · 04/06/2022 20:48

@Sallypally0, I've just checked and you can get an iPhone SE for under £300 at Game. (£249.99 actually)
I have one because I have damaged thumb joints so don't want to have to stretch them too far.

OhmygodDont · 04/06/2022 20:48

iPhone se 2020 via music magpie so with a full 12 month warranty is under £300.

check that out I’ve purchased a few things from there for the children.

RiojaRose · 04/06/2022 20:49

Six inches would be too big for me as well. I’ve done one battery replacement already, but it’s getting older and a bit slower these days. Still does the job though.

Of course you're not, as that was the very obvious intention of the title.

newtb · 04/06/2022 20:52

Have a Wiko one, not massive.
