To say 6.5 inches is too big

Sallypally0 · 04/06/2022 20:27

Why are there so few smartphones available in a smaller size? I am trying to find a phone under £300 with a screen closer to 5 inches but nearly everything is 6.5inches these days. Surely I am not the only person to want to carry around a compact phone and not a borderline tablet device?

Money ready to spend and nobody that I can see has a product that I am looking for. Can anybody recommend a phone? I only need to get rid of my current phone because after 5 years the battery life is near on zilch.

I would have got the s10e but it wasn't in stock.

Nix32 · 04/06/2022 20:57

@Sallypally0 Can't answer the question about whether it's a genuine battery but we've got someone local who replaces them for £25. Job takes minutes and they work perfectly afterwards - battery life fully restored.

DialsMavis · 04/06/2022 20:58

huawei p30 has an excellent battery life and isn't too massive

kolomo · 04/06/2022 21:01

I just buy a new SE each time. I hate big phones.

COPPER3 · 04/06/2022 21:02

Ashamed to say, I'm disappointed this thread is about phones..

Easilystartled · 04/06/2022 21:12

I find 6.5” is just about right when it’s on vibrate mode.

I LOVE my iphone SE. Cheap, does everything, no one is likely to nick it. Ideal.

Me too!

newname12345 · 04/06/2022 21:17

Have you seen the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 5? 5.3" screen @ £269.

www.samsung.com/uk/smartphones/others/galaxy-xcover-5-black-64gb-sm-g525fzkdeea/

I'm not sure it is a particularly good phone, but it is tough with a replaceable battery so would probably last you for years if that is what you want.

TwoBlueFish · 04/06/2022 21:18

iPhone SE from CEX, Music Magpie or Back Market

TwoBlueFish · 04/06/2022 21:22

For example www.backmarket.co.uk/second-hand-iphone-se-2020-256-gb-black-unlocked/347192.html#l=10

£269 excellent condition warranty

User112 · 04/06/2022 21:22

Such a misleading title, OP 🫤

Ietthemeatcake · 04/06/2022 21:23

I absolutely agree OP, and it took me ages to find one on a size I liked. I've got a Google pixel 4a but I think they are now discontinued.

violetbunny · 04/06/2022 21:23

I'm so disappointed by this thread Grin

User112 · 04/06/2022 21:27

@violetbunny same here! No one else seem bothered 😕

Sallypally0 · 04/06/2022 21:28

Again thanks for the suggestions. I am not all that keen on buying a reconditioned Iphone. The only reason I am replacing my current phone is due to the battery life so I want to buy a phone with a new battery rather than a used battery.

This is not the thread I was expecting 🤣

Chasingclouds100 · 04/06/2022 21:29

Oh dear not the content I was expecting lol! 🤦🏼‍♀️

PestorPeston · 04/06/2022 21:31

6.4 oppostore.co.uk/find-x3-lite-5g.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIytKh8tCU-AIVT-vtCh2khwrcEAQYASABEgJcUvD_BwE £279

The demand is for big screens, often rumoured to be for allowing men to watch porn. I'd love to be able to get a compact phone.

I'm far too long sighted for any massive phone to be helpful, but fitting in my pocket or hand would be a nice feature.

Sallypally0 · 04/06/2022 21:31

Thanks very much. That phone is perfect for me.

And yes obviously this thread might have been taken the other way. But how many of you would honestly opened a thread asking for mobile phone advice?

Keep the suggestions coming wink wink. But I think we have a winner.

I don't like big phones and I have a Samsung a41. It was the smallest one I could find that was actually in stock anywhere.

It's a great phone.

Me too - did a looong search and ended up with the a41 as the only remaining option. I wanted a phone I can hold in one hand, thumb at the bottom, ring finger at the top, scroll with index finger. The a41 just barely works for that. Only other options were older models or some varieties of outdoor phones but all of those have really low memory. Biggest drawback as I see it is the built-in battery, guess I'll need to toss out the phone once it dies?

CounsellorTroi · 04/06/2022 21:41

Disappointing thread.

FlibbertyGibbitt · 04/06/2022 21:43

Thought it was going to be smutsville 🤣

LondonQueen · 04/06/2022 21:47

I did not expect this to be about phones!
