Not a royalist or anything like that but I’m feeling quite emotional watching it! Once in a lifetime thing for most of us I’m sure

With all the awful things going on in the world at the moment this is a welcome distraction, I’m finding it fascinating to watch tbh!

I like the ceremony . Have watched it since I was a child. I always feel quite emotional at various points.

Royals thin on the ground.

Aprilx · 02/06/2022 11:48

I have got it on, finding it pretty boring to be honest.

Blossomtoes · 02/06/2022 11:48

Loving it. We went to the rehearsal one year, it was fabulous.

TarasHarp55 · 02/06/2022 12:07

Yes I think they're good to see. All credit to those that put the work in. As for the lazy royals.....

alfagirl73 · 02/06/2022 12:19

I always love Trooping the Colour - love a bit of pomp & ceremony. Full credit to all involved. Their unwavering professionalism and precision is incredible - especially with a couple of horses seemingly deciding they couldn't be arsed!

WooNoodle · 02/06/2022 12:21

Why on earth would this be unreasonable?

TheOriginalEmu · 02/06/2022 12:21

I’ve seen at least 2 other jubilees. So not once ina. Life time.

DownNative · 02/06/2022 12:26

The skill of all those on parade is incredible every time you see it. Pure class and the professionalism is top class!

Horses look beautiful as do the uniforms.

BlueKaftan · 02/06/2022 12:27

The Queen looks very happy and robust standing on the balcony.

MarshaBradyo · 02/06/2022 12:28

I just watched a few minutes, not sure if I can watch loads of it but I agree it looks fantastic

SherbetDips · 02/06/2022 12:47

Me too!! I love the royals and all the pomp and circumstance.

SherbetDips · 02/06/2022 12:48

@TheOriginalEmu A monarch seeing 70 years on the throne won’t happen again in our lifetime. So it is once in a lifetime…

NarcissasMumintheDoghouse · 02/06/2022 12:53

The cringe factor is too deep with me to want to watch it. It seems that we are a deeply immature country to be still holding this sort of ancient, antiquated pageantry, based on military splendour - men on horses who would be as useful as a marshmallow in, say, Ukraine - for someone whose main claim to honour is Not Having Put A Food Wrong. (Except she has, quite a few times.)

And the flyover is an expensive, polluting tradition that I hope Charles will abandon.

ilovesooty · 02/06/2022 13:00

I'm sure enjoying it couldn't be construed to be unreasonable.

Not bothering to watch or not enjoying it isn't unreasonable either.

thereisonlyoneofme · 02/06/2022 13:40

Men on horses being useless, they are all serving members of the forces and granted they wouldnt be doing cavalry charges but they can all be sent to fight

Lincslady53 · 02/06/2022 13:47

TheOriginalEmu · 02/06/2022 12:21

But you won't see another Platinum Jubilee. Till today, no one has seen a platinum jubilee. It is a big historical event.

JenniferBarkley · 02/06/2022 13:51

As someone who isn't British it's absolutely batshit but in quite an enjoyable, harmless way.

As someone who is Irish, the comments about "The Micks" and how that's a tooooootally fine term to use were Shock

if you’re going to come out with such offensive bollox at least educate yourself for first so you don’t look a complete idiot. The Irish guards involved have recently been serving in Iraq.

😮 I'm Irish and have it recorded (cos I do love the pageantry and fly past) but who said that and in what context? 🤯

I missed that, but wasn't it in reference to the Irish Guards regiment? That is their nickname and used by members of the regiment proudly, actually.

From the British Army's website:

"The Irish Guards – known affectionately throughout the Army as ‘The Micks’...."

JenniferBarkley · 02/06/2022 14:00

Yes, the nickname for the Irish Guards.

How long until the Queen comes out on the balcony? It's 11pm here and I'm getting tired.

howtomoveforwards · 02/06/2022 14:03

I am feeling very emotional. Weird. Not a Royalist at all. I think it’s all the uncertainty in the world. And it’s very British,, stiff upper lip, scones, cream and strawberries.
And I found myself yelling at Prince George to sit up!

Caminante · 02/06/2022 14:03

She came about just before 1 (and a bit before that). Are you watching live?

DdraigGoch · 02/06/2022 14:04

I was quite impressed by how quickly the police removed the numpties who ran onto the road. If only they were that quick with XR...
