DD eaten chicken without reheating- will she be ok?!

Sorry posting for traffic as I'm panicking a bit.

On Friday night I made chicken fajitas and there was chicken leftover so we put it in the fridge in a Tupperware. DD(15) has just informed me she was hungry so made herself a wrap with the chicken on, but didn't reheat it, just ate it cold from the fridge.

Please tell me this safe?! 🙈

You can buy cold cooked chicken at supermarkets. Of course it is fine.

Thesearmsofmine · 22/05/2022 21:59

Cold cooked chicken? That’s normal surely?

Spudlover · 22/05/2022 21:59

Yes, it’s absolutely safe.

vodkaredbullgirl · 22/05/2022 21:59

Its fine

ThreeLittleDots · 22/05/2022 21:59

You don't need to reheat cooked chicken

Namechanger965 · 22/05/2022 21:59

Of course it’s safe, it’s been in the fridge.

girafferaffle · 22/05/2022 21:59

She should be fine!

LosingTheWill2022 · 22/05/2022 21:59

Cooked chicken that's been in the fridge less than 2 days? Perfectly safe.

lancsgirl85 · 22/05/2022 21:59

Thank you! Im sleep deprived and exhausted so couldn't think straight! Phew......

Absolutely safe and fine to eat. I often roast a whole chicken and then carve the rest of the meat up, put it in the fridge and use it to make chicken wraps and sandwiches for several days afterwards.

MrsTerryPratchett · 22/05/2022 22:00

What do you make chicken salad out of? Cold, cooked chicken

WeAreTheHeroes · 22/05/2022 22:00

Absolutely safe. It was cooked. Only an issue if eaten raw or not sufficiently reheated.

Carpedimum · 22/05/2022 22:00

Panic not! It’s completely safe! I eat meats that I’ve cooked and chilled myself all the time.

wpao · 22/05/2022 22:00

😁 it's fine

AwkwardPaws27 · 22/05/2022 22:00

Cold cooked chicken is perfectly safe.

Have you never had a sandwich from leftovers after a roast? You are missing out, especially if you've got some stuffing left too. Yum!

HawthornLantern · 22/05/2022 22:00

Yes - totally. Properly cooked but cold chicken is safe. Smile Well, unless you laced it with arsenic, in which case heating it up won’t have saved her anyway!

Garman · 22/05/2022 22:01

Of course it is why wouldn't it be?

BeforeGodAndAllTheFish · 22/05/2022 22:01

Serously?
Fully cooked and stored in a fridge cold chicken and you're worried?

Cold fajitas chicken is a staple wrap filler in my house.

Do you really not eat cold chicken leftovers?

Please, please dont raise your daughter with whatever madness you've gotten into your head about food.

😂 I definitely didn't

Of course it will be fine (assuming it didn't sit around warm for ages before being refrigerated). The issue would be if it had been warmed but only partially heated through.

Still completely cold/fully reheated = perfectly safe.

WeAllHaveWings · 22/05/2022 22:01

Have you never had a cold cooked chicken sandwich? Fajitas are no different, just spiced.

Jules912 · 22/05/2022 22:01

I always use left over meat in sandwiches, even chicken. I generally go by if it's less than a week old and smells ok and never got ill yet.

Oysterbabe · 22/05/2022 22:03

Have you never made a sandwich with leftover chicken?

lancsgirl85 · 22/05/2022 22:03

Im sleep deprived and extremely emetophobic. I panicked.

I also don't think it's possible to raise my children with my own fears (I'm going with fears rather than "madness") around food and sickness, as they stem from my own childhood trauma. Which they have not experienced.

But thank you for your contribution...

No.

But come to think of it, I have had cold leftover turkey on Boxing Day from the fridge. Same principle right?
