DD eaten chicken without reheating- will she be ok?!

Sorry posting for traffic as I'm panicking a bit.

On Friday night I made chicken fajitas and there was chicken leftover so we put it in the fridge in a Tupperware. DD(15) has just informed me she was hungry so made herself a wrap with the chicken on, but didn't reheat it, just ate it cold from the fridge.

Please tell me this safe?! 🙈

Cooked chicken that's been in the fridge less than 2 days? Perfectly safe.

3-4 days and it will still be fine

its relevant because you clearly cook meat and I'm guessing that if you don't know what to do with cold chicken you bin it
or do you eat the whole entire chicken in one sitting?
if people have such a poor understanding of what is safe or not to eat then inevitably food gets wasted
which is damn shame

Neither.

It goes in the fridge and either my DP or DD eats it.

Don't assume. It makes you looks a bit silly.

Also @Hobnobswantshernameback , if I was the type to waste food, surely I'd have just binned the left over chicken from the fajitas instead of putting it in the fridge? Clearly I wanted it to be used at at some point by someone - just not me. 🤷‍♀️

But the OP stated she was concerned that the chicken had not been reheated, it is clear that if the chicken has been stored in the fridge then it was with the intention to use, albeit once it had been reheated.

Why would you assume that the OP was using a whole chicken for fajitas, surely it's more likely she used either breast or thighs?

Don't know about food waste issues in this country, certainly some comprehension issues.

I also don't think it's possible to raise my children with my own fears (I'm going with fears rather than "madness") around food and sickness, as they stem from my own childhood trauma. Which they have not experienced.

Of course it's possible if she sees you panicking about eating cold chicken and never eating it yourself.

Sorry to jump on this post! I've just literally done something similar. I've just made chicken pasta carbonara from left over chicken roast. When I added the chicken to the pasta ans sauce I mixed it and let it cook for a minute or two. I then served it to my family (I thought I'd done it for longer but when I looked at the time when I sat down I then realised!) Any chance as it was cooked and cooled appropriately that we will all be OK? I'm having a csection Wednesday and could do without an upset stomach or my kids becoming poorly too! 😫

OoooohMatron · 03/04/2023 19:07

It's fine. I always have leftover cooked chicken in sandwiches. Or eaten straight off the carcus like a cavewoman

IcakethereforeIam · 03/04/2023 19:10

If the chicken was safe to eat cold, it'll be safe to eat warmed slightly.

All the best for Wednesday Flowers

Thank you! Im sleep deprived and exhausted so couldn't think straight! Phew......

I understand you’re exhausted but have you literally never eaten (or seen) a chicken sandwich?

suzyscat · 03/04/2023 20:00

I'd say it's vastly safer cold than badly reheated

Probably best to start your own thread as people will - as you can see - reply to the original poster and not you.

Good luck on Weds. I'm sure you'll all be fine!
