DS just told me she’s a wee girl!!!!! I’m shocked

But they talk about being sisters all the time and she has a girls voice!

Muddywoof · 21/05/2022 21:09

I knew Bluey was a girl, but I was shocked when I found out Socks was a girl! Great show.

Coldhandscoldheart · 21/05/2022 21:13

And her middle name is Christine :)
I also thought socks was a boy for quite a long time.

ThatsBullshirt · 21/05/2022 21:14

Not sure why you're shocked as they sound like girls and reference being sisters all the time. My kids love Bluey, especially my 3yo who likes to pretend he's Bingo! It's a lovely wee show.

AnneTwackie · 21/05/2022 21:19

Ohhh I thought so too! Clearly my old fashioned brain went ‘blue is for boys’. Now that is established can you tell me what Flop is on Bing and how the hell he changes Bing’s nappy?

Lemonsandlimez · 21/05/2022 21:35

Yasss me too!
I automatically thought bluey was a boy because miniature version of the dad and bingo was a girl because miniature mum version... I was surprised when my little boy put me right!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 21/05/2022 21:37

It's Tyke Tyler all over again!

Hugasauras · 21/05/2022 21:42

DD loves this show and I love that it's two girls as the main characters too!

Haudyourwheesht · 21/05/2022 21:47

I LOVE that she's a girl. Because there's nothing 'girly' about her.

Stylishkidintheriot · 21/05/2022 22:50

@Lemonsandlimez I think that’s what I have unintentionally assumed. DH and DS were looking at me as though I had two heads because I thought she was a boy

Not that I’ve watched it a million times 😩but in one episode the uncle comes round and calls Bluey a boy and she corrects him. It did make me laugh the first time I watched it cause he said what most of us were already thinking!

WhiteTeaNoSugar · 21/05/2022 22:55

I thought the same until a few months ago when I had to buy a 4 year old Bluey stuff for his birthday 😁

Wiggledypiggledy · 21/05/2022 23:12

I voted YABU even though I also assumed Bluey was a boy the first time I watched it. It’s just sooo common for fictional animals to be male - think of books like “the Gruffalo” and “Dear Zoo” and how every single character in them has a male pronoun. Depressing.

So I was DELIGHTED when 3 minutes in she was revealed to be a girl.

Bluey is my favourite TV show of all time.

Lovetok · 21/05/2022 23:23

@Lemonsandlimez same! DH & DC were disgusted that I didn’t know this 😬 I have the superhero power of being able to zone out when the kids are watching tv and not take any of it in! I do actually watch Bluey now though because it’s brilliant.

AmateurDad · 21/05/2022 23:25

What are you talking about?

Marvellousmadness · 21/05/2022 23:27

I despise of bluey with her high pitched voice.

Snooks1971 · 21/05/2022 23:29

AmateurDad · 21/05/2022 23:25

What are you talking about?

Yes me too.

Idiotintraining · 21/05/2022 23:42

I thought she was a boy as I did with bingo

Shoemadlady · 21/05/2022 23:47

Who is Bluey? What have I missed now?

Punkypinky · 21/05/2022 23:47

Lemonsandlimez · 21/05/2022 21:35

Yasss me too!
I automatically thought bluey was a boy because miniature version of the dad and bingo was a girl because miniature mum version... I was surprised when my little boy put me right!

Same here. It is a great show. @AnneTwackie I've never thought that about Bing but I'll never not be able to think it now!

WhiteTeaNoSugar · 22/05/2022 01:03

Also Bluey is a common nickname for red headed men where I live so that was another reason why I’d assumed Bluey was a boy.

Stylishkidintheriot · 22/05/2022 08:10

@AmateurDad @Snooks1971
Bluey is an Australian kids show involving a wee family (2 parents and 2kids)

I thought both of them were boys too! I must have missed the reference to them being sisters. I was really shocked when I actually paid attention once and realised she was a girl.

Bloody great show, glad they have made a show with females in the lead. Ds loves the show too so we watch it A LOT haha.

User48751490 · 22/05/2022 08:20

We also assumed that they were brothers. Then as others on thread have pointed out, there are references to sisters in many of the episodes.

Just goes to show how we can often be tricked by the colour blue😂

User48751490 · 22/05/2022 08:22

My two youngest watch it regularly and there is some parallel humour too for the parents.
