Toddler drinking beer

Prepared to be told I’m being a bit stuck up/boring/over the top, but I’m really not sure

Friend posted pics of lovely photos on hol with her guy and his toddler or his grandchild toddler. They took photos & a video of him letting her drink his beer. She pulled for it about three times and had a good old gulp each time, not sips. They then joked how that’s how she slept all night.

I suppose it’s quite funny, it was just three big drinks, I was a bit 😮

It's not remotely funny.

GrazingSheep · 20/05/2022 18:04

It’s not funny in the slightest.

Cantfollowmeround · 20/05/2022 18:04

Save them whilst you can please and report the videos to social services. Alcohol at that age hinders their brain developtment and I'd wonder what they were doing behind the scenes if they think this is ok to record iyswim

RedWingBoots · 20/05/2022 18:04

Not funny.

Hopefully they weren't completely stupid and it was non-alcoholic beer.

TheGoogleMum · 20/05/2022 18:04

Isn't it legally child abuse to feed alcohol to a child under 5 or have I imagined that?

Cantfollowmeround · 20/05/2022 18:04

They sound irresponsible at best and shouldn't have children

DrBrennerFan · 20/05/2022 18:05

my toxic family drinks and I mean Sherry was given to my niece she was about 1 I was only 14 at the time and disgusted.

I'm more worried about the child getting alcohol poisoning.

It isn't abuse but you aren't allowed to give alcohol to children under 5 as alcohol can poison them so make them seriously ill or kill them.

Daffodilsdance · 20/05/2022 18:10

no , I am a fairly easy going parent and that is in no way funny . It’s dangerous and irresponsible.

mbosnz · 20/05/2022 18:11

That's bloody revolting. I thought that perhaps people were a little more educated from when I was a toddler, but apparently not.

Binsk · 20/05/2022 18:12

That's awful, not at all unreasonable to be horrified. I'd report it too.

NatriumChloride · 20/05/2022 18:13

Who are the losers voting YABU??
YANBU, OP. Sounds like they’re really thick parents. How sad for the poor kid.

Soubriquet · 20/05/2022 18:13

I’ve been known to dip my own child’s dummy in a glass when they were babies as a once off. Maybe twice but never gulps.

However, I don’t think 3 gulps of beer will do much harm providing it isn’t an every day thing

MySerenity · 20/05/2022 18:17

Why would you dip a dummy into alcoholic drinks?!

Would a couple of sucks on a vape be OK now and then?
The occasional spoonful of morphine liquid?
As long as it wasn't a regular thing.

florafoxtrot · 20/05/2022 18:19

Totally horrifying.

Seraphinesupport · 20/05/2022 18:21

its not "funny" its disgusting. a child doesnt know the effects of alcohol and cannot consent.

A toddler was forced to put her life on the line for amusement. alcohol poisoning can happen with 1 gulp when they are that young.

BurnDownTheDiscoHangTheDJ · 20/05/2022 18:23

I’ve got a former friend who let her then 18m old drink about half a glass of wine in front of me and another friend. Kid is now 15 and seems alright but it never sat right with me and there’s a reason we drifted apart!

PinkBump2022 · 20/05/2022 18:24

I’d report them to social services!!!

doadeer · 20/05/2022 18:25

What the hell. That is disgusting

It was good when they were teething.

Cravingchocolatemousse · 20/05/2022 18:26

Glad I’m not alone in this! They clearly love the child and are lovely with her, but he just kept offering the pint glass back to her

What is wrong with some people? Shock

x2boys · 20/05/2022 18:30

It's not something I ever did but I'm not sure what social services will do .
