To ask worst customer service experience

What's your worst customer service experience. Mine was with a chain car sales company. Booked to view a newish car. Got a call in the morning asking for my tea/coffee order. When I arrived, test drove the car I wasn't sure so said I'd think about it. The salesman talked me into going through the numbers. Sat down the price had gone up 2k!! I said I wouldn't need any extras. He was so condescending and rude, basically said if i didn't pay the extras they wouldn't tax the car or do any warranty. (The ad said a year free warranty) so to get the car at the advertised price I would have had to have driven it off court with no tax and no warranty. I walked we out? Anyone else?

Ordered a shed. The wrong one was delivered. The company said we made the wrong order. Fortunately my husband had screen shot everything as they changed their website the next day.
They’ve now admitted sending the wrong shed but haven’t replied to repeated emails and calls asking when they’re going to sort it out. I just want a shed! So frustrating!

TheWayoftheLeaf · 18/05/2022 17:51

Bought flights through a second party. They guaranteed refunds/exchange. Event date got moved to a week later so we needed to change flights.

No email available. Calls just said to email or rang out. Social media didn't reply. Press email told me to call.

Etc etc. Weeks of trying and eventually there was just no way to get through to anyone. £400 down the drain.

Both my parents died within two weeks of each other. They had a joint Santander bank account. When I tried to close it, they insisted they needed a signature from the account holder who died last!

I took my son to an indoor themed family/ activity centre. My son was just under five and has disabilities. I went to queue to take him on some little cars that the kids ride round a track and the woman asked if I wanted him on with the normal children? We left and I made a formal complaint (after crying my eyes out in the car). They brought in various 'accomodations' and changes following.

That's so horrible Flowers

Elderly PILs called an emergency ambulance as MIL had had a funny turn. On arrival, the paramedics wanted to know if they owned their house. Then whether they had lasting powers of attorney. What possible relevance this had to MILs medical treatment is anyone's guess. Unnecessary, intrusive and insensitive at any time, but mind-boggling in its insensitivity in these circumstances. None of their bloody business.

Brastop.co.uk.
I ordered a few bras, knew my size in the particular brand I ordered as I have loads of them already. None of the bras were the same size, the size was correct on the label but they were all different lengths.
I emailed to tell them, sent photos too and they refused to believe me. I asked for a refund and they refused. When I replied to the refusal one of their staff emailed another staff member about me and said it was more likely that I was faulty and not the bra.

I replied and thanked her for her assessment of me and advised that perhaps if she was going to bitch about a customer she probably shouldn't cc them in the email.
Never ordered from them again.

Had a problem with my car. Asked the mechanic what he thought it was. Said he'd call my husband to go through it with him. I politely said I wasn't married and that as the car was mine I'd like to know what was wrong with it.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 18/05/2022 18:07

he asked the lady that was making the pizza for extra sauce and she just looked at him, dead serious, and said, 'you'll get what you're given'.

To be fair, she did give him exactly what he asked for - just an alternative definition of 'sauce' Grin

Virgin Media

and The Shaker Kitchen Company - so bad, an error by a few mm in design which meant an appliance was stuck

I just googled name of latter to check and it seems many feel the same, one star reviews

MarshaBradyo · 18/05/2022 18:10

And Virgin Media kept cancelling and wouldn’t just turn up, for weeks

we gave up in the end and used BT

Currently grappling with these two (I have many but these are the ones of the moment - it’s not so much bad customer service as just stupid but sort of amusing all the same):

  1. ordered 2 bottles nice baby oil via Amazon. One bottle did not arrive. For some reason it’s not possible to just get sent another fucking bottle I have to inconvenience myself and arrange to send the one bottle back to get the refund. Which makes no sense as anyone could lie and send 1 back and get refunded for 2 but mostly it’s just annoying and I’ve ended up having to pay for another one because I just don’t have time at the moment to go to the post office which has pissed me off.

  2. fantastic cleaners have some absurd system currently where they want you to get an annual membership for 79£. If you don’t want that they just argue with you for 30 mins on the phone and start to lie and say the day you’ve agreed to is now not available for non members blah blah blah. I rarely hang up but I ended up just losing it and hanging up because she was not listening and I was starting to feel like I was in the twilight zone.

Im so sorry that happened to you - it's made me fill up. I suspect pure ignorance/being thick as pig shit on her part rather than intentional nastiness. But yes, that's awful.

Didn't happen to me - I read it in the paper - but I don't think you can top the bank who demanded a signature to close a joint account. From a dead person. Whom they fully acknowledged was dead.

I can probably top that - I was required to provided full identification for someone who'd been dead for almost 20 years.

This went backwards and forwards for weeks until I finally lost all patience and gave them his current address, 3rd plot on the left in St Mary's churchyard (or something like that) and said that he no longer looked much like the photograph we had on file when I first took him on as a client so I was unable to certify it was the same person.

That finally did break through the impasse.

Had a booking at a well mown hotel chain. I'd booked and paid through a third party site. Arrived to check in and told by the security guards that i didn't have a booking as the hotel had been closed and used for refugees. They insisted I didn't have a a booking, when I proved I did they insured I'd been informed it was cancelled. I hadn't. They were really rude. Fortunately the third party site were excellent.

This has been withdrawn by MNHQ.

I'd have honesty sued them tbh.

Sainsbury's this morning. I had put an order in for a food delivery, and overnight developed D&V symptoms (although haven't actually V, came very close). Feel like death warmed up.

Delivery chap comes and as he starts to walk up the drive I said 'Just to warn you, I've developed a D&V bug overnight so it would be best to stay a distance away.' He huffed loudly and said 'Well you'd better put some slippers on and come outside, hadn't you?' I was clearly struggling to pick stuff up and take it into the house.

If it had been me, I would have offered to unload the goods onto the path so that the customer could collect them at her pace once I'd left. That way, the customer wouldn't have to touch the baskets and we'd maintain a good distance.

I bought some shoes from a small independent shoe shop. Within a week the sole was falling off one of them. I took them back and the manager informed me that the sole was "cosmetic" and I therefore could not have an exchange or refund. I was speechless!

TangerineSloth · 18/05/2022 18:28

12 years ago the frame of my Bugaboo pushchair bent so I rang John Lewis customer services and spoke to “Monique”. She somehow managed to put me down with a snide comment every time I spoke. This included her saying “You sounded like you’d got a speech impediment when you said Bugaboo, I’m SO pleased it’s the name of a pram”. She said every horrible comment in such a pleasant tone that I couldn’t think straight, but I was shaking when the call ended (unsatisfactorily). I wish I could say it felt funny after all these years but it doesn’t. Haven’t shopped at John Lewis since

BaileysAndNachosDontMix · 18/05/2022 18:30

I have experience working on a counter
they have to stick to specific amounts for each pizza but you are able to have quite a few toppings on a pizza so extra sauce would count as one so that shouldnt of been a issue if you were happy with that
unfortunately tho all these counters are so understaffed for the sheer amount of work that has to be done & then stopping to make pizzas for customers inbetween doing 3 others peoples amount of work it becomes a distraction from the other 100 jobs that have to be done within a certain time so please don’t be offended if the member of staff isn’t very jolly when they have to serve they are so overworked
which is not the customers fault at all just that they won’t employ enough staff .

BMW Leeds. I’d been after a particular model and they had one at a fair price. As I was going to Leeds I called in on a Saturday afternoon at about 2.30 pm.

Sorry sir the car isn’t on our site but I can get it here in 10-15 minutes. I got a coffee and waited. 30 mins later no car. Went to ask. ‘Any minute now’. Eventually it turned up. I’d waited well over an hour. I looked it over, ‘could I have a test drive please? Sorry the roads are busy and we’re closing soon - but he took me up the road - him driving.

Surprisingly I decided to have the car. Paid on line that evening. Asked if I could pick it up the next Saturday. ‘We’ll send you an appointment’. No choice as to the time. Not really a problem - so we turned up at the appointed time. And waited. And waited.

Too many cars to hand over, too few staff to do this. Waited, along with many others, for a good 90 minutes. Hard times for the reception staff.

Eventually we sat down with our hand over chap. Not his fault and a pleasant chap.

He was later embarrassed because the cleaners had left out bits from the valetting - not really an issue but…..

Got home - no parcel shelf.

Had another car been available (similar price, colour, mileage) from other dealers I’d have walked.

Our previous cars had come from car supermarkets - decent and efficient service. I thought that the service might be better from a main dealer - how wrong I was.
