I'm exhausted

3rd child came down with the pox. I haven't slept in over a month. I've Been awake for 24h straight.

Whilst DH sleeps soundly in the other bedroom as he's got work tomorrow and he's useless when tired anyway so I'm stuck in between 2 crying children

Anyone else? Please make me feel like I'm not alone in this shit

Me - chesty cough
DD - chesty cough
DS - ear pain, probably infected
DH - Zzzz zzzz zzzz

Strikemepink · 17/05/2022 00:15

You sound exhausted, and your situation sounds very rough right now. I’m awake but only because my mind won’t be quiet, nor will my snoring husband.

I hope your children settle and that you can all get some much needed rest.

PickAChew · 17/05/2022 00:17

Because I haven't gone to bed, yet. I'm about to, though. Tired is about to win over insomnia.

Hugasauras · 17/05/2022 00:17

I'm 'at work' (WFH though) till 1am, and then DD will appear in the bedroom at some point between now and 5am clutching her night light and climb into bed with me. I'm 8 months pregnant too and have to keep changing sides as my hips hurt.

You must be knackered @exhaustedlevel10 ! I hope you get some proper rest soon Flowers

AnneLovesGilbert · 17/05/2022 00:18

Can’t breathe properly, can’t lie down because I keep coughing. Sick of feeling shit and wish this virus would do one.

Sorry you’re having such a fucking awful time. Sorry your DH is a massive let down. Everyone struggles when they’re tired, he’s not a special case, and it’s dangerous for you to go so long without sleep, especially when you’re in sole charge of ill children.

Sending much sympathy.

2u2me2me2u · 17/05/2022 00:18

@AmbushedByCake This made me laugh 😂

I was awake at 3am last night until 6 then slept until 9, now I’m wide awake surfing mumsnet. DH snoring next to me 😖

Bluehasnoclue · 17/05/2022 00:20

Ah I’m so sorry, I am not surprised you must be absolutely exhausted!! That sounds completely rubbish! I wish I had any suggestions to help. I hope DC3 recovers ASAP. Can your DH take tomorrow off to help so you can get some sleep in the day possibly?

I’ve got some sort of chest infection and haven’t slept properly for a few days. Starting to feel a bit delirious, just managed to drop off and woke up because my chest was crackling when I was breathing.

Here with you in spirit!

romany4 · 17/05/2022 00:21

Because my noisy selfish neighbour has got her boyfriend around and thinks it's the perfect time of night to have the tv up loud and then have a shouty conversation over it
Because she doesn't work Tuesdays...never mind the rest of us..

JazzHandsYeah · 17/05/2022 00:24

Back pain. Waiting for the painkillers to kick in.
Though I can hear DP snoring from here so I might just stay on the sofa

exhaustedlevel10 · 17/05/2022 00:27

Sorry all for still being awake. But it makes me feel better 😂 that I'm not the only one awake 😂.
All of the houses on my street have their lights off and all I can think it's "lucky bastards."

Going to try and pull through tonight knowing that I'll be treating myself to a large Costa & a muffin first thing in the morning

Because my womb is ejecting itself Tom my body, and my brain likes to troll me.

Theluggage15 · 17/05/2022 00:31

I’ve just been worrying myself sick that I’ve lost my work bank card and cardreader today. Wasn’t in my bag when I was going through it last thing.

I’ve just now remembered where I put it in the office thank goodness. Been panicking for the last 2 hours. Came on here to calm down! Hope things get better for you OP.

Starseeking · 17/05/2022 00:31

Me: I've just finished reviewing some work given to me today with a tight turnaround, after an awful day where my new micromanaging boss basically told us our team of 100 people is rubbish.

Also me: Making notes on points to highlight during my first round interview tomorrow.

Got a deadline (last one) for a course and trying to sell and buy a house and keep three children alive. So much to do, so little time.

52andblue · 17/05/2022 00:35

My Ds, with Autism & clinical Anxiety is in a complete meltdown about his Exams on Weds & Thursday. I don't know of he'll be able to attend. I know he will require a LOT of support before during & after in any case. He's downstairs finishing a sandwich & hot chocolate I just made him
I've come to bed as if I stay up he'll talk to me about Canadian railway points (oh yes...). But I won't sleep till I hear him come up to his room (soon I hope)

Hunderland · 17/05/2022 00:36

I always stay up til midnight to do Wordle and Waffle. Love a word challenge - then sleep between 1 and 2.

Young children are hard work. It will pass, hang in there op 💐

DramaAlpaca · 17/05/2022 00:36

Sympathies to all of you awake when you'd rather not be. Poor you OP, with sleepless poxy children. I remember those days, it's so hard. We had a month of it too, with two toddlers who caught it one after the other. And I have a DH who can sleep through anything.

It's normal for me to be awake at this hour, I like the peace and quiet (no small children here any more, all grown). I'd like to be up for another few hours, but have to work tomorrow so will head up to bed shortly.

Summer776 · 17/05/2022 00:39

Sky high anxiety as parents going through very long drawn out divorce financial split and its taking its toll on DM (74) who also has some health issues, including a major op due.

Eldest DD just been referred to Childrens Mental Health Services for anxiety and depression that's led to school refusal (14)

Plus usual midnight random worries......

Supertiredmumma · 17/05/2022 00:44

Me! My DD1 started throwing up 8am this morning. DD2 threw up about 20 minutes ago. I really struggle with sick so much anxiety means I will sit next to her all night now!!

Sorry to hear you are having a rubbish time :-( it's so hard when they are poorly. DD2 had the pox recently too and then we all got covid....literally one thing after another isn't it

Hope everyone manages some 😴

I had a bit of a disagreement with my best friend, because her DC pushed mine over and she’s adamant (despite witnesses to the contrary) that hers is purer than the driven snow. Absolutely sick of her cognitive dissonance tbh- her child is nasty and I am fuming that mine has taken the brunt of it today.

thewindbeneathmywings · 17/05/2022 00:46

10 day old baby just had his 12.30 feed. Now should try and get some sleep before he's awake in 3 hours instead of ready Mumsnet!

Ugh i have a friend like yours. Anything her child does (good or bad) is angelic and everyone else's children are terrible 🤣
