Do I live in the most expensive area for housing?

I suspect I do. A 2 bed flat with parking will be around £600k and a 3 bed family home is about £850k

I think we are on a par with central London, but thought I would ask the hive mind.

This is not a good thing btw, just interested

Two bed flat in Barbican, City of London, goes for nearly a million, so no.

converseandjeans · 13/05/2022 22:44

Where are you?

ChickensandCows · 13/05/2022 22:46

😆 you haven't told us where you are. Brighton??

userxx · 13/05/2022 22:48

Ridiculous.

FunnysInLaJardin · 13/05/2022 22:48

Sorry, Jersey! Just watching a news thing about Guernsey being really expensive at £550k for a family home and made me think how bonkers it was here.

Happily it seems London is even worse!

Clearly not

LookdeepintotheParka · 13/05/2022 22:49

Oxford? Horrendous house prices there.

AngelinaFangelina · 13/05/2022 22:50

I'm Oxford. It's similar here.

Monty27 · 13/05/2022 22:51

OP are you thinking of moving?

FunnysInLaJardin · 13/05/2022 22:54

No! Just ruminating! Nothing in the world would tempt me back to the UK tbh

You’re in the Channel Islands tax haven?

I can see quite a lot of benefits that would make a Channel Islands home quite attractive.

Oneborneverydecade · 13/05/2022 22:56

Virginia Waters in Surrey is similarly expensive. The top property there on right move is £22mil

Is Jersey not in the UK? I've never been OP, is it worth the high prices?

FunnysInLaJardin · 13/05/2022 23:03

Sadly not a tax haven. I pay 20% tax on my income as do all residents

nearlyspringyay · 13/05/2022 23:05

Well it's notoriously expensive but try London.

Jersey is lovely, and yes worth the money of you are allowed to live here.

We are not in the UK technically but are a crown dependancy

That's a lot less than I pay!! It's all relative. If you pay less tax then you've more money to spend on housing

HiJenny35 · 13/05/2022 23:06

What a ridiculous post, no obviously you don't, surely you'd just Google most expensive areas to live in the UK and you'd have your answer. To then drip in that you actually live in Jersey and "nothing" would temp you back to the UK, oh please. Great for, you stay there.

Louise0701 · 13/05/2022 23:07

@FunnysInLaJardin 20% would be a dream for a lot of us here in the UK!

But no, it’s not the most expensive place to buy.

FunnysInLaJardin · 13/05/2022 23:07

so now I feel better! Higher prices elsewhere, its good to see we are not quite as ridiculous as I thought!

OP posts:
Louise0701 · 13/05/2022 23:08

@Oneborneverydecade at least it has low tax! Don’t know anything else about it.

Stichintime · 13/05/2022 23:11

Not really understanding this post. You live in an expensive place, so do I. Unlikely to ever buy but do benefit from higher wages, good infrastructure etc.

Is that right? How much tax do you pay in the UK? Its 25 years since I lived there

NRRK28 · 13/05/2022 23:12

no its not. I live in cambridge and my 3 bedroom house cost £800k. Central london cost millions. My mother in law have a mews in kengsinton (central london) cost 1,8mil. And its ussd to be a stable. Imagine. 2 bedroom stable for 1,8mil 😑

ElenaSt · 13/05/2022 23:12

Sandbanks, Dorset is an overpriced area.
