I asked SIL what she’d like for her birthday. Handcream was the reply, not something I buy myself. So I’d love your recommendations, nothing crazy expensive, but up to £20 budget.

Woriing hands

Another vote for l'occitanne 20% Shea Butter Hand Cream. See if you can order online as you can normally get a few extra samples free that way; sometimes also a gift bag

SeedyBloomer · 04/05/2022 21:50

Another vote for the L'occitane Shea. Absolutely stellar stuff.

Cheap, but it just works. I've tried all sorts of expensive hand creams, but nothing works as well as this.

Dobbyismyabsolutefav · 04/05/2022 21:58

Definitely L'occitane.

WeCouldBeSpearows · 04/05/2022 22:01

I love the Neal's Yard garden mint and bergamot. I'm not a fan of mint, really, but this isn't very minty. It reminds me of sherbet.

luckylavender · 04/05/2022 22:02

L'Occitane 100%

ladyinthecampervan · 04/05/2022 22:07

Body Shop Hemp or Crabtree and Evelyn Gardener's Hand Cream.

I don't like the smell of L'Occitane

HollyHocks13 · 04/05/2022 22:11

I used to always buy the L'Occitane ones but I found this in M&S and much prefer it. It smells absolutely amazing and is really moisturising. It's also much cheaper than L'Occitane (a bargainous £4!) so you could buy some of the matching products to go with it..?

If you want something more organic/natural that’s really effective, I recommend Oway Remedy Hand Balm. You don’t need a lot and it works wonderfully.

I’ve used loads of diffferent ones but I don’t think you can heat occitane 20% Shea hand cream. You can buy the 30ml for £8. They do other hand creams, lots of them, it the ones with Shea butter are by far the best.

I agree with this for a luxury gift choice.

Ponoka7 · 05/05/2022 07:12

I'm wondering if she's asked for hand cream, does she have dry hands, that needs proper moisture? If so then the body shop hemp cream, rather than a luxury/smells devine, one.

neverenoughchelseboots · 05/05/2022 07:13

Emphatically recommending Origins Ginger hand cream. It's £20 and absolutely beautiful.

I never spend that much on things like hand creams but I treated myself after DC1 was born and my hands were ravaged and I tested about 20 before choosing that one.

I love it so much that my lovely MIL now buys me one for birthdays and Christmas and I've not been without for 4 years.

HerMajestyTheQuern · 05/05/2022 11:57

Thanks all for the advice 😀a trip to the Trafford centre is now on the to do list, just seen they have a kiehls too!

If she likes sandalwood then Ayumi sandalwood and cocoa butter face cream takes some beating, its around a fiver.

Toddlerteaplease · 05/05/2022 12:19

Diprobase.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 05/05/2022 12:27

Margaret Dabbs - the hand serum and the lotion.

I don’t have beautiful hands but the skin looks amazing.

bluebell34567 · 05/05/2022 13:00

i tried lots.
e45 fast absorving daily lotion is very good.

Body Shop Hemp or Crabtree and Evelyn Gardener's Hand Cream.

L'Occitane has lots of different smells

MinnieGirl · 05/05/2022 13:13

Another vote for the Body Shop here. The Hemp or the Almond are both fabulous.

Have tried L’Occitane in the past, but after their appalling stand over Russia, I won’t give them my money

LaBellina · 05/05/2022 13:34

Another vote for L’Occitane. My favorite one is Rose 4 reines. In the past I loved the Body Shop Moringa handcream but I’ve never forgiven them for throw JK under the bus.

LaBellina · 05/05/2022 13:35

Also TK Maxx often has lovely handcreams and so cheap you’ll have some budget left to add in some great bar soap with your gift.

MrOllivander · 05/05/2022 13:37

I really like caudalie, smells amazing and not greasy
