To think that if Kim Kardashian can, I should be able to do the same too and yet can't?

Apparently Kim Kardashian lost 16 pounds/7k in under a month. Reportedly she wore a sauna suit, ran, and cut down sugar and cards and ate vegetables and protein. I may not have the sauna suit but I can do the rest, right? And yes I don't think I could lose that much weight in a month (I'm a size ten, about 5'4). AIBU to think that while on paper I should be able to lose that much weight, it probably wouldn't happen? I usually watch my weight by calorie counting and that works for me - but not that quickly!

That should have said 'sugar and carbs' not cards.

Somehow I very much doubt she lost 16lbs in 3 weeks. Poetic licence I think to go along with the romanticism of fitting into marilyn monroes dress. Total BS I should think..

Coughee · 03/05/2022 15:29

I honestly don't know why you'd believe anything a 'reality tv' star puts out there! You don't actually know how much she lost or how she really did it. They are not a family who are keen on making natural changes to their looks, put it that way.

FlibbertyGiblets · 03/05/2022 15:31

I feel a bit awful about Marilyn's dress being used as a reality star prop Sad

pooktline · 03/05/2022 15:33

It's really unhealthy and disordered. I would r be too concerned you can't match it.

Bunce1 · 03/05/2022 15:34

It’s not true though is it? In the same way she says she hasn’t had buttock implants.

PolynesianParadise · 03/05/2022 15:38

Disordered eating.
Just eat like a normal human being. Natural foods, not manufactured. Plenty of water.

Why hurt your body? It carries you.

DorothyZbornakIsAQueen · 03/05/2022 15:38

The Kardashians are all smoke and mirrors. I think it would be tiring to lead their lives. You aren't a person, you are a product. Always 'on', always planning ways to make more money, because the millions they have is never enough.

I doubt they actually get time to sit back and truly be themselves, if they even know who they are after all these years of flogging themselves.

Fairislefandango · 03/05/2022 15:44

1 Probably not true anyway
2 A really unhealthy way to lose weight
3 What makes diets fail is usually not the method itself but the inability to stick to it (the more extreme the method, the more likely this is to be true)

EatYourVegetables · 03/05/2022 15:47

You can healthily lose about a pound a week, in theory. I can manage about half of that.

That’s by eating veg, healthy fats, protein. No sugar, alcohol, quick carbs. Moderate exercise. sustainable and stays off.

Sauna suit, reality star, Monroe dress, and a statement that she’ll “order pizza and cake” as soon as she’s out of the dress all sound unappealing and extremely unhealthy.

LongLive89 · 03/05/2022 15:48

The dress didn’t do up. Hence KK is wearing a fur around her on the red carpet. I think it’s because her surgery altered behind meant that no amount of weight loss would mean it would fit.

16lbs is doable IF all she ate was water, veg and lean protein BUT she’s got a team behind her doing this for her - we are regular human beings who do not need this kind of extreme eating to fit into a dress.

Ridiculous. See also Gigi who has lost so much weight since fashion week and looks scarily thin.

Tippexy · 03/05/2022 15:49

You could do it on the Cambridge diet… whether you’d want to is another matter!

LongLive89 · 03/05/2022 15:49

Also she apparently only wore the dress for the red carpet. Changed into a replica that fit for the rest of the evening.

Bizarre.

Sofasogood1 · 03/05/2022 15:54

Of course you could do it. It'd be shit and unhealthy and the weight would go back on the second you stopped the crazy diet but yes you could.

HowIsItMarchAlready · 03/05/2022 15:55

I believed it because you hear of people losing astonishing amounts of weight in short periods of time. I didn't read anything myself but heard it while queuing up at the post office so I thought maybe I didn't have all the details. I just googled it and she did look stunning though.

It might be true that she hasn't got buttock implants, and that with the alleged weight loss could be linked.....

hamstersarse · 03/05/2022 15:59

When you first go keto (which is what she describes) you tend to lose a lot of weight in the first few weeks. A lot of people term this 'water weight' as when you eat carbs you also retain water (1g of carbs retains 3g of water), so as soon as you stop, you immediately lost the water bloat.

It's not unhealthy at all, but you would see that if she continued eating like that, she wouldn't continue that rate of weight loss - it would slow down a lot

StaunchMomma · 03/05/2022 16:03

Anyone losing that much weight fast will be A- dropping their water (retained) weight, which for most people is around 5lb, I think, for me around 7, for some up to like 10lb, and B- the remainder will be muscle loss as well as fat.

Might feel great in the run up to an event but not sustainable, or healthy.

BreadAndWater · 03/05/2022 16:04

Your size 10 !
You don't need to lose any weight

Why worry about anyone else?
Especially someone so fake

SillySallySassySausage · 03/05/2022 16:05

IF it's true, there's a few other facets to what she'd do that a regular person wouldn't/couldn't.
I mean, she will have a chef and probably doesn't cook for her kids etc. so literally not a single other calorie than necessary will pass her lips, no picking/tasting hoovering up that last bit that dc didn't eat. She will also be training really hard with a one to one trainer, whereas you and me would be probably doing a half arsed run/workout vid between work and the kids and not particularly putting our all into it because we're knackered.
It's a different world and you'd be mad to try and emulate it.

Fashiontatts · 03/05/2022 16:06

16lbs in 3weeks is alot of weight to lose...! And done rather unhealthily/disorderly, if what she's saying is indeed true. It really doesn't sit right with me her bragging about it when so many impressionable young people follow her every move. If she wants to torture herself dieting to fit the dress then fine, but it's irresponsible on her part to describe it (and glamorise) it to the media

Thatswhyimacat · 03/05/2022 16:08

What annoys me about this sort of regime is it's oh you can lose 16lbs by running and not eating sugar, but I already do both of those things and just seem to get bigger 😂

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 03/05/2022 16:09

Hang on, what is she wearing?

A replica of Marylin's dress? Surely they could have made it to her size.

RaspberryChouxBuns · 03/05/2022 16:09

This should have a TW in the title, some of us have eating disorders and are trying to avoid casual diet culture talk.

Lottapianos · 03/05/2022 16:11

OP, if you're size 10, do you even need to lose any weight?

Agree with others that KK's claims sound bonkers, dangerous, miserable and probably untrue
