Humble bragging

I have only come across this term on MN but i think I wintessed it first hand... whats it all about?

Family in lemur enclosure at zoo talking to keeper.

Keeper "you can get a little closer if you want"

Woman "we don't need too thanks we honey mooned in Madagascar so we have seen so many lemurs up close"

Keeper "oh okay, bet that was great"

Woman "it was amaaaazing... we could hear them all around our cabin at night aaaaahahahahhaha" (not sure why this was funny- but apparently it was hilarious)

Don't get me wrong I wasn't jealous in the slightest... nothing i would be creeped out by more than animals at night...

It just felt like one up man ship at its finest. I mean why go in there if you only want to belittle the experience Confused

Whats the worst humble brag you have witnessed?

This one is maybe more a stealth boast than a humble brag (are they the same?)

Friend of mine was invited to stay on a yacht by some friends. She complained to me that it was nice but she didn't get to taste the 'authentic' food of the region because 'we just ate lobster every night 🙄'

This one made me choke on my sarnie (lobster of course!)😂

I don’t think so. She would have anything so nouveau riche as a utility room. It isn’t in keeping with the house which has been very sympathetically restored and decorated. It is beautifully done, I’ll give her that and it’s a beautiful cottage but she is just a bit of a fanny and her “oh, silly little me, I’ve got nothing better to do but obsess about whether the roses are blooming yet, oh goodness, the children do make rather a lot of noise but they are so very intelligent” schtick pisses me off. Her husband paid for everything (although she probably earns a lot via Instagram now), her kids are entitled, rude brats and she isn’t the nice, slightly dreamy ditsy person she tries to market herself as. She’s a gold digging social
climber who married well and she looks down on anyone with less money than her and says unkind things about them. As I am about her to be fair but at least this is anonymous.

@Iknowthisdickhead i now DESPERATELY want to view this Instagram 😂

"It can be awful speaking 10 languages such as I - I overheard two Italian men talking about how peachy my arse is the other day and obviously I understood every word - they were so shocked when I told them to "Vaffanculo"!

<Adds Italian to the list of languages I can now tell people to go and off themselves in>

Cheers! Thanks for that Tryhard

Oh god!

Found it... how is recycling my Opening journalism 🤔

Feel like I need paying for doing their job for them. This is exactly how it felt to be copied at school 🥲 (intentional grumble brag)

How rude 🧐

Ok but the comments on it 😂

But seriously how is that even journalism? They literally put screenshots of comments then fill the page by copying and pasting each of the comments they took a photo of

Ring tail 🦨

And ehmm... brown ones 🤓🙄

You could use a 🐀 for the brown ones . . .

<helpful>

@NippyWoowoo

😂 I think I'm most proud about getting "fecking feck" into a newspaper 😂 second only to "feck off with yourself"

@SchadenfreudePersonified

Was expecting a lemur expert to correct me brown ones comment.... perhaps lemur lady herself 😮 imagine if she read this ..... although she probably wouldn't realise its her, most A holes don't 🥸

Brown ones ....🦫

OMG JUST FOUND A LEMUR EMOJIIII

Skunks, rats and raccoons - the perfect lemur substitutes!

We really do need a wider range of zoological emojis.

A lion and a wildebeest might have cut it at one time, but David Attenborough has raised our awareness level so much that people just won't accept blanket predators/ ungulates/lemurs any more.

😄😄😄

We don't accept blanket ungulates anymore 😂😂😂

I think the lack of ginger emojis is also tragic... a forgotten "race"

There are 2 dragon emojis, a feather is amongst the animals 🤨🤨🤨 and even a dodo!! 🦤

“Olivia is 8 today. She is such a thoughtful, loving, kind little girl, we are so proud of her”. Makes you hope they have the teenager from hell 5 or 6 years down the line.

Well, nobody's going to post "Olivia is 8 today. She's clumsy, a bit selfish, and can be a right b*tch if she's in a bad mood. Only ten more years until she moves out!" on their kids birthday, are they?

Well that’s rather the point of FB isn’t it. People only post the very best most carefully curated snapshots of their lives!

Feckingfeck · 08/05/2022 12:04

@YetAnotherCupOfTea

😂

Alternative facebook would be hilarious!

A mum on a FB group: 'My 3.5 year old can reads small chapter books, counts to 300 forwards and backwards, can do 2 digit sums and subtractions, is currently learning times tables.
I'd like to ask for advice on what else can I do to support his development, as I'm not very good at stimulating him.
Please don't tell me to take him out to playgrounds, he gets loads of outdoor play. Thanks'

I was surprised that a few people replied with suggestions.

Hey guys, looking for advice. What type of flat shoe would you wear on a private yacht?"

😂😂😂

The correct reply is "It depends. Are you a guest or in the galley?"
