Landlord turning up unannounced

So I moved house recently and my landlord seems to be coming round a lot. He comes round more then my own family. He is trying to get my family to do repairs had to do a few as he hasn’t done them and it costs me for the things that needed buying to do the repair. I pay quite a high rent for my area and I’ve noticed he seems to hang around more when rent is due. He was supposed to be coming by for something yesterday but then turns up randomly today. Am i in the wrong but I’m kind of getting sick of it. I just want privacy is that so wrong.I homeschool so the constant disruption really isn’t good for learning. I honestly dread him messaging or calling because I can’t deal with the constantly coming around. I’ve got enough to deal with financially so I don’t need him hovering over stressing me out more.

I wouldnt pay for a electrician. He came 3 days ago and made his report. Maybe you could as for a copy.

Definitely agree that Landlordzone is a good idea, though the local authority's response is sadly no surprise; IME "hopeless" just about sums up too many of them

As you've realised there's no real alternative to getting the hell out of there, but you might as well protect yourself as best you can while you're at it.
Don't expect the LA to do too much about bringing the landlord into line after you've gone though; as I suggested earlier they're often too busy being inameeting, off sick, on leave, etc., to pay any real attention to those who do the paying

if your council is useless, get onto your councillors. They have the power to cut through the nonsense and get answers. They are voted by you, so make them earn it. Failing that, contact your MP

Update on my creepy landlord. He is now selling the house, only been here 3 months and getting guidance from the council. He is under the license. The only problem is he is kicking off for mail coming here for his family but I keep returning it to sender because there’s absolutely loads coming for him. I mean double what I get a week and I live and pay the bills here. Something seems so off. Anyways for the past week I’ve seen this white Peugeot driving past my house(we have a little horrible road right in front of our houses and then a main road across from that but a walkway in between) and then tonight I noticed a car was sat at the bus stop (same one driving past) for 40 minutes. When I went to the window they sped off. It was really weird. I took the registration plate down and I’ve also ordered a camera for the front of the house. It was a male that looked like my landlord driving past but a female was driving when they were sat at the bus stop and male in the passenger seat. I’ve previously speculated on whether my landlord has history of abuse/dv due to this level of harassment and stalking as well as what seems like control issues. It’s coming up as Newcastle plates which isn’t from my area. I’m thinking of forwarding it on to the police officer who previously dealt with my case against my landlord. I’m hoping it’s potential buyers for the house but why would they be sat staring at the house for 40 minutes. It’s very weird.

Sorry to hear you're dealing with that, does seem very weird. I don't know if this is likely there might not be a correlation, but when I lived in a property and there was a lot of post arriving for the landlord - turned out it was because he was falsely claiming benefits in different people's names pretending they lived there, while charging me and my flatmates rent at the same time! We returned to sender and he got really angry then we realised why (recognised some of the envelopes as being ones sent by the housing benefit dept back in the day) RTS risked his fraud being uncovered and he kicked us out.

Crazyhousewife · 18/06/2022 06:29

This was what I wondered, maybe something that’s fraudulent. My parents were like oh well it’s nothing to do with you, just give him it but if it’s fraudulent I can see that coming back to me as a third party to it depending on if hmrs want to make an example of me so I’ve been returning to sender. The electrician mentioned that him and his wife barely spoke to each other as she doesn’t speak English. It made me speculate if this is possibly over a visa and having family who work in immigration is making the situation more difficult if that’s the case.

Don’t buy the items @Crazyhousewife I don’t understand why you are. If you’re not doing the repairs anyway then just tell him to fuck off. It’s a way of controlling you.
