Once submitted.
Thank you, just having a good panic as I had no idea my passport had expired. Can't afford fast track. Thanks

My local MP shared a fb post this morning advising people that the current turn around time is about 10 weeks

Hospedia · 27/04/2022 09:36

I think its fairly hit and miss right now, I sent mine off and had it back within two weeks whereas a family member sent theirs at the same time (separate postage) and it took closer to eight weeks.

Best plan would be to send it off ASAP, once it's in the system then you know its in the pipeline at least.

Sirzy · 27/04/2022 09:37

My nephews came back in 2 weeks.

my MiL sent hers off in January and it’s still not back

alloalloallo · 27/04/2022 09:40

I think it’s a bit hit and miss.

We’ve recently renewed 3. 2 came back within 2 weeks, 8 weeks later we’re still waiting for the 3rd.

However, to complicate matters, DH sent my passport (the only in date one we had) back by mistake instead of one of my DD’s. The passport office assure me that mine will make its way back to me but it’s making me nervous.

Topseyt123 · 27/04/2022 09:43

DD3's came back last week, having taken just under 3 weeks. Peterborough office, and we did all of the forms and payment online, if that makes any difference.

It seems a bit hit or miss really. I would hope that the talk of 10 weeks is a worst case scenario thing.

Have a look here: www.passportwaitingtime.co.uk

It was on BBC Breakfast this morning (maybe 9.15 ish?). and they advised if you’re going away in July, it may be a problem sending it off now… optimistically, that may suggest that you’ll be ok if your holiday is later?

Outnumbered99 · 27/04/2022 09:48

Got mine back last week, took 3 weeks, which I was amazed at especially with Easter as well. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for it- I applied online if that makes any difference.

Theoldwoman · 27/04/2022 09:49

We were told 22 days yesterday.

stirling · 27/04/2022 10:23

Thanks for your replies everyone. Yes I read something about 10 weeks and had a huge panic, hence posting on here to check on your recent experiences
Going to prob have to find a way to finance fast track as holiday is mid July 😳

London. Surprisingly fast. Just waiting for DC's ones now which are in transit.

Soffit · 27/04/2022 10:26

I meant to say, around a fortnight (despite Easter, Spring backlogs etc. )

dementedpixie · 27/04/2022 10:38

I have done a renewal for ds and it has just been approved although I haven't received the new one yet. Did the application online on 14th April, old passport received 22nd April and passport approved on 25th April. Dont know how long it takes for the last stage.

They have sent me a message at each stage. Application is going through the Glasgow passport office.

poorbuthappy · 27/04/2022 10:40

Did 3 renewals 11th April online.
All now printed just waiting shipping.
2 kids renewals, and 1 kid to adult renewal.

PoppyFleur · 27/04/2022 10:48

We renewed one passport in January and another at the beginning of April, both returned in just over 2 weeks. We did the forms online and swiftly organised suitable witnesses to our identity.

Trying to renew my driving licence however has been a complete headache and taken months.

poorbuthappy · 27/04/2022 10:50

Literally just had a TNT message saying 1 will be delivered today.
The applications went to 3 different offices even though I live 4 miles from 1 of them!

Comedycook · 27/04/2022 10:52

Mine took three weeks. I was impressed

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 27/04/2022 10:53

We submitted the kids' renewals on 5 April, old passports were received 12 April. No further update since. Nothing is booked yet but we were hoping to go away at the end of June. Fingers crossed!

Soffit · 27/04/2022 10:56

They are lousy at updating their own system. For example, after the email about them being printed, there was no further communication about dispatch and delivery. It was literally dumped half-in half-out of the letterbox by the regular postman. Even now, I want to track so that I do not miss the DCs ones but there is nothing available to go on.

WilliowGreen · 27/04/2022 12:41

I applied for DS’s first passport on the 8th March. I got a text on the 13th of April saying they had received the documents. I am panicking now. It seems lots of people have had their passports back much quicker.

OpposableThumbs2 · 27/04/2022 13:21

I did mine on the 14th April and got an email today saying it was printed and ready for dispatch.

Pericombobulations · 27/04/2022 13:35

Sent my sons March 12th online and it is still being processed. He hopes to use in August so had hoped that would be enough time.

girlsyearapart · 27/04/2022 13:39

Ds renewal took just under 3 weeks. Haven’t had his old passport back though..
@PoppyFleur my driving licence took 2 years !! If the dvla were in charge of passports no one would be going anywhere

Kidsaregrim · 27/04/2022 13:42

Mine was the same just under 3 weeks!

Minikievs · 27/04/2022 13:47

I renewed my DS's on line on 7 April and it's being delivered today. I used the online system with a digital photo of that makes any difference
