Once submitted.
Thank you, just having a good panic as I had no idea my passport had expired. Can't afford fast track. Thanks

Has anyone done a name change recently? I did my renewal/name change application 16/3, had text to say they’d received my docs 4/4 and then exactly the same text 24/4 so I called on Monday to query and they said the second time is documents being put on the system . My sister applied 2 weeks before me and hers was about 4 weeks start to finish, mines been 7 so far and we go away in 5 weeks 🙄 I know it's still 5 weeks but I've read some horror stories. We're going away for a wedding with all my family so there's no option to change the whole holiday. Im hoping as it will be 12 weeks from when I applied I'm just being prematurely anxious..... 😬

Mine was 2-3 weeks. Very straightforward renewal of one that expired during lockdown, updated photo and address. All done using the online system.

Did my daughters first adult passport on March 24th (her child one had run out in February and completely forgot she would probably need it for student finance ID). It finally arrived today so almost six weeks.

Credit where it's due, I think that the new system is brilliant. I am no photographer but I managed to take the photos for free on my phone and you are immediately told whether they are likely to be accepted when you upload them. Compare that to paying a tenner per child for badly taken photos down the high street which make you look awful. hopefully that is now a thing of the past!

Crackercrazy · 03/05/2022 21:33

@Soffit , gah I wished I’d known that about the photo! I was trying to take a photo of my daughter today for her application but got so paranoid they were rubbish, I panicked and took her to a photo booth. The result isn’t great - as she said in her own words ‘she looks like a druggie’!

Frazzled2207 · 03/05/2022 22:08

Yes but after submitting my photo a few days later it got rejected and not at all clear why. Cue having to do another one. Again rejected. It took us 2 weeks to get a photo approved. We had no idea what we were doing wrong.

listsandbudgets · 03/05/2022 22:17

DP just did his..and it came back today..15 days.Seems the threat of privatisation has sped them up!!

Those photo shops/kiosks specialize in prison mugshots! The machines can just about get away with it but those businesses with their own photographer and dedicated corner all set up properly like a studio - how on earth do they produce those results? I looked like a meth addict in the last set ever taken so I have gone down the DIY route. Mine are far from perfect but definitely better than their ones!

CornishGem1975 · 04/05/2022 13:22

We had photos done in a photobooth and I airbrushed them to remove DDs spots and dark circles 🤣 It says they don't accept edited pics but they were approved no issue!

WilliowGreen · 04/05/2022 18:01

I have had a text today to say DS’s passport has been printed. I am beyond relieved. I have no idea if this was a coincidence but I phoned to ask if there was a delay and received the text message half an hour later.

Has anyone used the Durham office?

bridgetjonesmassivepants · 04/05/2022 18:14

Don't talk to me about Durham. I applied through the Post Office Check and Send on the 11th of March and NOTHING IS HAPPENING.
When I last had a response to my email they said it had been sat there sine the 23rd of March and needed checking.
I have so far been on the phone for more than three hours trying to get through to ask what the issue is. You get teased by being on hold for 15/20 minutes and then you get cut off.
Due to travel on the 29th. When ai submitted my application we were told there was a five week wait, it has now been 7 weeks.

FairyLightAddict · 04/05/2022 19:33

@sarahlounich I did a name change in March (back to my maiden name) and mine took 3 weeks. They asked for my divorce document which I posted registered and my passport was printed the next day. I seem to be lucky compared to some on this thread. Good luck!

sarahlounich · 05/05/2022 20:35

@FairyLightAddict thank you for your response. My sister did her's 2 weeks before me at the beginning of March and had hers back within 3/4 weeks 😫 I tried to call today 10 times plus and every time it said they had too many calls and cut me off. We try again tomorrow!
