Mid 30’s now and feel I am on the downward spiral, looking for inspiration

33

GoadyToady · 21/04/2022 06:53

My early to mid 30s.I’d lost shitloads of weight and dumped my then psycho husband. I was shagging about loads. I’m in my 50s now, happily re married and still miss those days,

Why do you feel you’re on a downward spiral?

carefullycourageous · 21/04/2022 06:55

About six months Grin

OllyBJolly · 21/04/2022 06:56

60! I had bad skin when I was younger and in my thirties had two toddlers, broken marriage, depression and a full time demanding job. 40s I had teenagers, sick family members and all that stress reflected on my face! No time for haircuts and no money for clothes.

50s and 60s I'm so much happier and that shows. I am wrinkly and my body is a bit softer and creakier than it used to be. I dress better than I've ever done ( no fashion model!) and get a good hair cut and colour every couple of months.

I don't want to come across as smug. I do believe we shouldn't equate youth with beauty - older women are beautiful too. Probably more importantly, I don't really care who agrees with me.

Daisydoo34 · 21/04/2022 06:57

I had my second and last baby 18 months ago and lost my baby weight and more, saggy belly button! Eye wrinkles! And I read an article that women over 30 are non desirable so maybe it’s just my attitude towards it.

I’ve also noticed that the men I am attracting are much older! Haha! Maybe that isn’t a bad thing.

Late 20s, until I had kids at 32 basically 😁

Waxonwaxoff0 · 21/04/2022 07:01
  1. I had DS at 22 and by 27 I had more time for myself as he was no longer a needy toddler. I started putting on weight at 28. I could scrub up nicely now at 31, but I'm overweight and need to lose 2 stone.
Mercurial123 · 21/04/2022 07:02

This was discussed last week lots of replies. It was called "When did your looks fade" or similar.

Svara · 21/04/2022 07:15

24/25, now 38 and the happiest I've been with my appearance since then (come back to a similar haircut and style that suits me), but obviously with more lines and greys now!

TrippinEdBalls · 21/04/2022 07:17

Well, I was a very cute four year old...

I think realistically it was about 24? Past the teenage awkwardness. I think I look fine now at 34, but I don't look like I did in the flush of youth - and that's ok! I was more attractive then, I think, but I'm a much happier, calmer person now.

Svara · 21/04/2022 07:17

I had my DS at 22, so he's now almost 16. At 24/25 I'd come through the early days of single motherhood.

NannyOggsWhiskyStash · 21/04/2022 07:19

37, looked physically great, and was in a good place. Am 53 now, mentally and professionally all is good, but arthritis has wrecked my ability to enjoy an active life

5128gap · 21/04/2022 07:21
  1. Which is now! For the first time in my life, through a combination of time, healthy eating and some money spent on myself, and, though I say it myself, I look great. Menopause has changed me from a pear to an hourglass, I'm size 6/8 after a lifetime at a heavy 12 (big at my height) My hair is no longer greasy, has developed a really nice wave and has grown long. My skin is fabulous, no wrinkles that light botox doesn't deal with. When I look back at my youth, that common wisdom says should have been my most beautiful time, I laugh. Pretty enough, but with round doughy face, slightly chubby, cheap hair cut that I had because everyone else did, not because it suited me, generic fashionable clothes, no origionality; then my 30s when I looked constantly tired, baby weight, scraped back hair, practical mum uniform; to my 40s, ravaged by peri menopause, caring responsibilities and career.... Would I go back to the so called 'glow' of youth? Not if you paid me!
Awrite · 21/04/2022 07:21

30-34

I'm mid forties now and although I'm slim, my face shows my age. I still like my hair though.

Lengokengo · 21/04/2022 07:21

32-35. Didn’t have kids till later. At 32 I had just been dumped, lost half a stone and took up yoga. Had my best body and felt great about life, which showed on my face.

MacaroniBaloney · 21/04/2022 07:27

36 to 46 for me.

I've always looked 'older' and by that age had finally settled into my 'looks'. I'm 50 now and still look good, and own it.

When I was younger, over 50 was seen as past it, but my peers are showing to me that 50 is the new 40 to me.

stayathomer · 21/04/2022 07:32

Skin is now at 42 as I've finally found what works for me, body wise early 30s but that was because I didn't think about it the way I do now, everything just fitted then (am realising now this is a bit silly as am only 1 to 2 sizes bigger). But actually any time before the last 5 years I looked less tired, that's my only thing, I look tired all the time now (because I am!!)

riotlady · 21/04/2022 07:37

I actually think I looked great pregnant. I felt like pure garbage but my hair (which is thick anyway) was so glossy and I wasn’t self conscious about my tummy for the first time in my life because it was supposed to be big!

pictish · 21/04/2022 07:39

Now. Seriously. I’m 46. I’ve lost a shit ton of weight, grown my hair and got fit in my 40s. Never felt more attractive.

MintyGreenDream · 21/04/2022 08:02

32 I was the most attractive I've ever been and I want to get back there at 42

IwaswhoIam · 21/04/2022 08:03

My young to mid 20’s although I didn’t notice an obvious decline until my mid 30’s. That’s also when I had kids so less effort went into my appearance anyway. I’m oddly more comfortable and confident with my appearance now at nearly 38.

Barbieshoe · 21/04/2022 08:09

I peaked at 26. I’m 36 now and my face is heading southward.

Ihaveoflate · 21/04/2022 08:10

Now at 41 years old.

I take more care of my hair and how I dress. I have more money than I did when I was younger, so I can spend a bit more on clothes (I don't buy them often). I've worked out what suits me and I don't care as much about what other people think.

On the outside I look great, but a traumatic birth nearly 3 years ago destroyed my pelvic floor and I have prolapse. It's taken me a long time and lots of dedicated rehab to get back to exercise. As a result I'm more mindful of my body in general and don't take it for granted.

Oh, and I'm the happiest I've ever been, which I think shines through.

Derrymum123 · 21/04/2022 08:43

23-31ish. Slimmer, happier, more energy, nicer hair and teeth. More fun and felt more attractive.

Peppapig7262662 · 21/04/2022 08:48

For me it was 21-24
I had DD1 when I was 18 and put on loads of weight. I then dumped her shitty dad and was so much happier.

I'm now 32 and very fat, although I am working on it and also finally getting my teeth straightened.
