A little light hearted.
Dd1 and Dsd8 got a small egg yesterday from Natuonal Trust egg hunt.
This morning I let them eat it for breakfast alongside some fruit. The rules are chocolate is only allowed for breakfast on Easter and Christmas, and they both went for a long walk today and had a healthy lunch.

Dh can not get his head around this 😁. So AIBU for letting them have chocolate for breakfast two days of the year??

Tell him to unclench.

LoveSpringDaffs · 17/04/2022 13:03

Tell Grinch the Easter Bunny says it's fine!!

DoubleGauze · 17/04/2022 13:04

I used to give mine a chocolate egg in an egg cup with kitkat soldiers when they were small.

Of course it's okay to do this on Easter Sunday!

Moochio · 17/04/2022 13:04

What is so hard for him to get his head around?

Chickychoccyegg · 17/04/2022 13:04

It's totally fine!!

mrsbitaly · 17/04/2022 13:14

Absolutely not being unreasonable. It's exciting for the kids doing something different to the norm

RedHelenB · 17/04/2022 13:16

He is being unreasonable, but why did you spoil it with fruit?

StanleyTheCrane · 17/04/2022 13:16

YABU to not let them have chocolate for breakfast on their birthdays too.

Marblessolveeverything · 17/04/2022 13:16

What a misery, the little joy and memories they are making. I am 47 and have cherished memory of my grandad bringing in the hens eggs with a Cadbury creme egg for me and shortbread finger biscuit to dip. Does he do any fun with the kids

SummerOfComedy · 17/04/2022 13:18

When I was little, I remember having half a chocolate egg with cold milk in it for breakfast.
Happy days!

1000yellowdaisies · 17/04/2022 13:22

Im glad you've said its lighthearted because honestly it would bug the heck out of me of my DH was this uptight! :)
Christmas and easter are a total free for all all day re chocolate and honestly that starts the minute they get up!
Its 2 x a year so i can certainly live with it

xXwhenwillitendXx · 17/04/2022 13:22

He's very much the sort of person that has Cereal or cooked breakfast, sandwich for lunch then something hot and traditional for dinner.
He is now currently hiding eggs around the garden for when DD wakes up from her nap.
He will then be happy to let them eat all the chocolate in one go, but still doesn't get why I gave them chocolate for breakfast 🤣

😅 fruit ruins all chocolate!
SillySallySassySausage · 17/04/2022 13:25

It's mandatory in this house to eat nothing but chocolate today. None of that savoury food malarkey. It's a Yes day.

JurasicPerks · 17/04/2022 13:26

Well, technically YABU, as pain au chocolate for breakfast is also acceptable in this house.
Bur, I've clicked YANBU as chocolate for breakfast on Easter Sunday is more than ok.

xXwhenwillitendXx · 17/04/2022 13:27

@SillySallySassySausage Dsd is more excited about lamb for dinner.
I have a very odd family.

Oh I LOVE this idea. Definitely stealing for next year!

That does sound amazing, lamb is my favourite roast.
Your husband needs to lighten up, it's just one day.

Grin

Yanbu. (And birthdays mean breakfast chocolate too - add that to the list!)

MyNameIsAngelicaSchuyler · 17/04/2022 13:38

It’s Easter Sunday! Chocolate for breakfast is the tradition surely.

Magnoliayellowbird · 17/04/2022 13:38

If we'd had any chocolate in, I'd have eaten some for breakfast.

No what? The bunny hides them at night.
RealHousewifeOfEastLondon · 17/04/2022 13:40

My two had rice crispies in a large half of a chocolate egg for breakfast! They've done their egg hunt and eaten more chocolate. Now we're off to see family where there will be more chocolate. It's ONE DAY!!

Ihaveawonderfulpartner · 17/04/2022 13:50

Ours had loads of Easter eggs and they’ve been munching them all day. It’s Easter 🐣 and it’s a super treat Smile
