A little light hearted.
Dd1 and Dsd8 got a small egg yesterday from Natuonal Trust egg hunt.
This morning I let them eat it for breakfast alongside some fruit. The rules are chocolate is only allowed for breakfast on Easter and Christmas, and they both went for a long walk today and had a healthy lunch.

Dh can not get his head around this 😁. So AIBU for letting them have chocolate for breakfast two days of the year??

@DoubleGauze

I used to give mine a chocolate egg in an egg cup with kitkat soldiers when they were small.

Of course it's okay to do this on Easter Sunday!

I absolutely love this!! Stealing for next year.
Aimee1987 · 17/04/2022 13:55

As the odd treat absolutely fine

LadyCordeliaFitzgerald · 17/04/2022 13:56

Well today is National Chocolate for Breakfast Day so yanbu but I take issue with Christmas Day. It’s Boxing Day that they eat chocolate for breakfast and possibly lunch and dinner while mum rests recovers from the hangover after all the cooking the day before.

actiongirl1978 · 17/04/2022 14:01

DS ate two large Cadbury eggs plus their extra bars this morning.

Once it's gone, it's gone.

Seraphinesupport · 17/04/2022 14:02

whats the difference between eating it at breakfast or dinner? except the fact its more unlikely to keep anyone awake on a sugar rush at nighttime.

Hadalifeonce · 17/04/2022 14:04

DH and I both had chocolate for breakfast😁

Flittingaboutagain · 17/04/2022 14:05

My little one isn't allowed any chocolate until she turns two but I agree about the 8 year old.

girlmom21 · 17/04/2022 14:06

Tell him it's ok because Jesus died for your sins

Deadringer · 17/04/2022 14:07

Maybe he should have sorted breakfast.

xXwhenwillitendXx · 17/04/2022 14:08

@Flittingaboutagain I would have no chance giving it one and not the other, Dd would just of taken it off Dsd anyway as if Dsd has anything, Dd wants it too.

Chocolate for breakfast at Easter/Christmas isn’t just a rule, is it? It’s the law!

As a child I would have felt very hard done by if I’d had to wait

He's boring, LTB.

It's Easter!

Me and DH were just recalling our childhood Easter traditions like this this morning.

It's what childhood is about, your DH is being ridiculous.

PinkFizz1 · 17/04/2022 14:22

@RedHelenB

He is being unreasonable, but why did you spoil it with fruit?
Haha yes, this.
fairylightsandwaxmelts · 17/04/2022 14:34

Isn't the entire point of Easter to have chocolate for breakfast? Grin

I had a Lindt bunny with my coffee this morning!

GrandRapids · 17/04/2022 14:42

He sounds like a barrel of laughs....

Stomacharmeleon · 17/04/2022 14:53

I realise this is super odd and I promise I am not derailing but I have never eaten/ tried lamb....once.

dangermouseisace · 17/04/2022 14:54

But it's a NATIONAL TRUST easter egg so infinitely more wholesome.

And it's actually the law to have chocolate for breakfast Easter and Christmas day*

*may not be completely true.

GeneLovesJezebel · 17/04/2022 14:55

It’s fine. He needs to calm down.

Zilla1 · 17/04/2022 15:05

Admit it, OP, it was a Terrys Chocolate Orange for their chocolate and fruit breakfast. It's not only OK, it's mandatory if the Dc wants.

Happylivingonmyown · 17/04/2022 15:11

Christmas and Easter it's very acceptable to have complete rubbish for breakfast. We have two Christmas Day birthdays in our house, so shoot me for allowing chocolate for breakfast twice a year for the last 27 years! Xxx

Inspired.
WonderingWanda · 17/04/2022 15:16

He is very unreasonable. You are also a little bit unreasonable for making them have fruit with it....and only one egg?

CornedBeef451 · 17/04/2022 15:30

My 13yo DD's only memory of our old house was when I let her have mini eggs for breakfast on Easter Sunday.

Apparently it was the best thing ever so well done you, eggcellent parenting!
