Neighbours from hell

I am looking for advice or options to help me against these awful people, here is a list so I do not drip feed.

House hold rubbish just thrown out into the street the latest addition are nappies.

House hold rubbish and nappies in the back garden which is now coming over to our garden we are concerned about rats.

Banging on the walls until 10:30-11pm most nights.

Drug use

Drug dealing

We went away and DH stayed home on few weekends ago they destroyed the front garden, on the Saturday they were kicking a ball against the house aiming for the windows whilst hanging around on our door step, Sunday morning they tried to break into the house but the dog started barking DH had kept it quiet to see how far they will go.

The people who visit them block our car in and refuse to move, stare at us when we are leaving the house, swear at us or make hand gestures.

Regularly have to listen to DA to the woman and kids when reported to the Police they asked what is the problem what do we expect them to do?

Benefit fraud.

Leave 4 and 6 year old outside screaming in the street during nice weather.

If driving in the area they will abuse us and the male does a “come fight me” gesture with his hands and arms.

It is all very draining and no one is willing to help us

Fullofhotcrossbuns · 14/04/2022 07:39

Womeninblack · 14/04/2022 07:39

I’m so sorry OP. They sound awful! Best you can do in this scenario Is move I’m afraid

Fullofhotcrossbuns · 14/04/2022 07:41

Easier said then done currently

What do the police do when called? Do you have cameras?

StrongTea · 14/04/2022 07:46

Environmental health re the rubbish? Local councillor. Must be a nightmare for you all.

Fullofhotcrossbuns · 14/04/2022 07:47

Do not start me on the cameras it was a three month battle with the Police to be allowed to put them up as people have feeling and they might feel harassed.

The Police do not care at all about their jobs they are at the end of their careers and have no urgency or interest to enforce the law.

The majority of people who frequent the neighbours have all been in prison for violent crimes and one stabbed someone last year but was never arrested for it.

OP posts:
Fullofhotcrossbuns · 14/04/2022 07:48

Done that, the local MP ignores my emails.

As silly as this sounds DH has sent a file to a relative in the event of anything happening to him or us as a family to go to the media and report it .

DH has been assaulted three times over the last year by the neighbours partner and drug dealers.

MagneticRubberDucks · 14/04/2022 07:51

Why not move?

I wouldn’t continue to live like that.

worriedaboutmoney2022 · 14/04/2022 07:53

@Fullofhotcrossbuns

I'd just move no way would I stay there I can't see why anyone would

Cosmos123 · 14/04/2022 07:53

Move.
They won't change.

Fullofhotcrossbuns · 14/04/2022 07:55

We have been trying to move for the last year but house prices have gone up massively, even Private rent was being looked at but as I was furloughed it had a impact on what we could borrow and no lender wanted to touch us.

If we could move we would be gone by now.

MollyRover · 14/04/2022 07:57

If DH has been assaulted why hasn't he pressed charges?

HemanOrSheRa · 14/04/2022 08:00

Have you looked at requesting a community trigger?

Fullofhotcrossbuns · 14/04/2022 08:02

@MollyRover

If DH has been assaulted why hasn't he pressed charges?
Local Police said there was a lack of evidence as it was his word against theirs Angry

We had a video of the male next door starting on DH and because DH asked him what his problem was, the problem was that he was going to work in a shirt and trousers!
Then they could not get involved.

@HemanOrSheRa

Have you looked at requesting a community trigger?
Yes that falls down again at the local Police

We have gone to the IPC as well before someone suggests that as you can imagine it was white washed by the IPC saying they are doing enough

Gazelda · 14/04/2022 08:05

Has your DH been physically attacked?

Are you keeping a record of every single incident?

I'd book an appointment with your MP at their next surgery. And send details of incidents that police won't deal with to the PCC.

It sounds awful. You're not able to enjoy your home. I hope you get some help to address this very soon.

GetOffTheTableMabel · 14/04/2022 08:07

@MollyRover

If DH has been assaulted why hasn't he pressed charges?
Because in the UK, it is the police/CPS who decide whether charges will be brought. “Pressing charges” is a phrase which people learn from American tv shows and think applies here. It is not one of the options in Britain.
MagneticRubberDucks · 14/04/2022 08:09

Do you own or rent?

barbrahunter · 14/04/2022 08:11

I am afraid that I can't offer any different ideas to those already on this thread, but I wanted to extend my sympathies, OP. I was a victim of a vile neighbour some years ago, and the way it made me feel has stayed with me forever. It is dreadful to feel under threat in your own home. I used to say I didn't really hate anyone, but I loathe my old neighbour.

I know how you feel we hope that something bad happens to them so they are removed from our lives

Email the police with a detailed time line of events, a summary of your involvement of police/other agencies and a paragraph about how it is impacting on your/ family health, asking what is their plan moving forward is to ensure your families safety then cc in your HA, MP, county councillor, town councillor and local newspaper.

'cc' is a powerful tool!!

We have done everything but go to the paper that is the nuclear option

Cyw2018 · 14/04/2022 08:24

I should have also said at the end of the paragraph about the impact on your health, make it clear that above anything else your biggest fear is that one day one of them will attack and kill your DH. Make it clear. Make it known to the police that other people know that this is your fear. They will know that if anything really bad happens to your DH that they are truely in the shit
