Is there anything you regret massively? Anything you would have done differently that plays on your mind?

Don’t hate me but not really! I’ve had lots of bad things happen but eg. If I hadn’t had a mental breakdown and dropped out of uni, I wouldn’t have moved to my current area and if I hadn’t moved here I wouldn’t have met my DH and had my DD. All the horrible things have led me to this place in my life and I like it here.

AHungryCaterpillar · 11/04/2022 21:48

Yes. having children.

jackstini · 11/04/2022 21:49

A few things that I think I could have handled a lot better or wish I hadn't done

Don't know if I would dare change them though even if given the chance as otherwise my life now might not be as it is...

GeneLovesJezebel · 11/04/2022 21:49

I wish I’d stopped using contraception and had the other child I wanted, but DH didn’t.

Alonelonelylonersbadidea · 11/04/2022 21:50

Having more than one child.
Getting married to a moron.

DuesToTheDirt · 11/04/2022 21:50

Not "massively", as in life-changing, but I wish I'd travelled more when I was young. I did some travelling but returned to the UK for family reasons, and I often wish I had been able to see more of the world at that time.

I was young with no husband, kids, house or other ties, and it's so different when you're in your 20s and carefree. Plus, the world has changed massively in the last 30 years, and some the experiences would be very different now.

OneTC · 11/04/2022 21:51

Nah not really

Hunderland · 11/04/2022 21:52

Life's too short for regrets.

I did what I thought was the best thing at the time - if it was wrong it was done with the best intentions mostly

ENoeuf · 11/04/2022 21:53

Oh I had this conversation in a fashion with ds. i was saying I wished I’d taken up opportunities or tried harder and he said ‘but if you had you would’ve be where you are now’ and I could have more, but I would have less somewhere else.

ENoeuf · 11/04/2022 21:53

*wouldnt

Justanotherlurker · 11/04/2022 22:02

Everyone has regrets, for you taking x decsion and whishing you had taken y there will be someone regretting they didn't take your x instead of y.

You just have to come to terms with that you can't change the past and it has made you as you, the grass isn't necessarly greener and in the age of social media could just be fake.

VerifiedBot2351 · 11/04/2022 22:03

I’d change everything in my whole life.

ILoveAnOwl · 11/04/2022 22:06

Forging a signature on a document. Put my career back nearly a decade and I hate that I lowered my standards to do it.

IhateJan22 · 11/04/2022 22:06

So much, is that not normal?

SummerInSun · 11/04/2022 22:08

Got into medical school but didn't go - thought I'd be doomed to life as a GP which I thought would be dull. Now realised there are zillions of interesting careers in medicine.

My current job is just pushing money around. Pays better than medicine would have, but contributes nothing to the greater good.

grafittiartist · 11/04/2022 22:21

I think everyone has them. Must do!

Rtygfscg787 · 11/04/2022 22:30

I had a termination and regreted it every day of my life. I felf like I was having a breakdown after covid and too scared to have the baby. Soul destroying regret.

Zog92 · 11/04/2022 22:30

I regret having a child with someone that doesnt want anymore children.

Lacedwithgrace · 11/04/2022 22:41

I regret continuing to try for a baby after many losses. It wasn't 'worth a try' in the end

Hawkins001 · 11/04/2022 22:42

At a hotel when I was in devon or cornwall, I had the opportunity of a relationship with a lady a couple of years older, wish now I had taken the chance. (Although I know the timeline as I know it now, would be quite different if I had.)

bettertocryinamercedes · 11/04/2022 22:47

Previous relation to this one

Wish I'd never gone out that night and bumped into him. Grrrr

bettertocryinamercedes · 11/04/2022 22:48

Relationship!!! We weren't related

ChristopherHayden · 11/04/2022 22:49

I don’t have any regrets, I think lots of people do and lots of people don’t.

curlii103 · 11/04/2022 22:53

None that play on my mind tbh, hindsight is a wonderful so i doubt anybody looking back thinks they always made the best decision but who knows how things would play out!

romdowa · 11/04/2022 22:54

I wish I knew about my neurodiversity earlier in life. I regret lots of things that I did as a result of it , not knowing at the time. I'd like to go back and do things far far differently .
