Aibu to hate wings...

Light hearted. I came off the coil to ttc and got pregnant a few months later. So I've had like 4 periods in 6 years. Now they're back post partum and honestly when did it become so hard to find towels without wings.

Who invented these wing things and does anyone actually like them? I find they don't stick to my underwear and just stick to leg legs and chaif my thigh. I actually find non winged towels stay in place no problem. The winged ones end up moving.

Aibu to ask if people actually like these things?

I leak onto my underwear on my first few heavy days if I don't use pads with wings.

thenightsky · 03/04/2022 22:56

Wings stop them ending up as a narrow strip in the middle of my crotch.

AHungryCaterpillar · 03/04/2022 22:56

Thought this was going to be about chicken wings

OnceAgainWithFeeling · 03/04/2022 22:57

Try reusables.

watcherintherye · 03/04/2022 22:58

I thought this was about Paul McCartney.

TabithaHazel · 03/04/2022 22:58

I use a moon cup now with period pants, but before then I would only buy ones with wings as they don't stay in place otherwise.

I too thought this thread was going to be about chicken wings 😂

OutlookStalking · 03/04/2022 22:58

Yup wings far better otherwise you get leakage round the edge surely?

VyeBrator · 03/04/2022 22:59

Keep away from Red Bull then.

stimpyyouidiot · 03/04/2022 23:03

I'm with you op. Wings are so annoying.

pigsDOfly · 03/04/2022 23:05

I don't have periods any more but I remember when the winged sanitary towels appeared in the shops.

And yes, they move around because they don't stick where they should, but for me the worse bit was the leakage.

It seemed to me that the wings were designed to draw the fluid away from the body of the towel and onto my underwear. Seriously odd and completely useless.

nocoolnamesleft · 03/04/2022 23:06

Was so glad when winged first came in, and used them ever since. Stay in place so much better.

StoppinBy · 03/04/2022 23:07

They always stick fine for me?

I thought the thread was going to be about makeup 'eyeliner wings' lol.

ronjobbins · 03/04/2022 23:13

Thought it was going to be about Paul and Linda McCartney.

Dying! 🤣

Seriously, yes, reusables. Mine have poppers and don’t move.

StoneofDestiny · 03/04/2022 23:17

I thought it was chicken wings too!

FourChimneys · 03/04/2022 23:22

I thought you were going to be sorting out the dressing up box and didn't know what to do with the fairy wings Grin

But back in the day when I needed such things I used pads with wings.

Talipesmum · 03/04/2022 23:24

Seriously never found this - don’t use them much these days but the winged ones have worked way better for me for the last 30 years, they stick fine and keep the pads in place sensibly!

oviraptor21 · 03/04/2022 23:26

Winged ones much better. Stay in place and don't ruck up.

ThinWomansBrain · 03/04/2022 23:27

Me too. Someone gave me a piece of Kentucky fried chicken last week. Had never eaten it before, It was vile.
Superhanz · 03/04/2022 23:29

I personally don't like them either, but my periods aren't heavy so I wouldn't leak anyway.

Northernsoullover · 03/04/2022 23:31

I hate them. I've gone back in time by using kotex mattresses. AKA Nightime pads. They are incredible. I feel so secure in them.

AdoptedBumpkin · 03/04/2022 23:32

Hated pads with wings. Hated leaks with wingless pads too. Never got on with tampons sadly.

It's only in the last couple of years with period pants becoming a thing, I would rather wear what is probably OAP's disposable pants at that time of the month.

It catches everything and saves all the mess. The cheaper the better, a supermarkets own brand has no scent. I've tried Always Discreet brand a few times but dislike that there seems to be a scent.

LovedayCL · 03/04/2022 23:54

Hate them and also they seem to permanently affix themselves so you can’t get them off your pants. I also give myself an impromptu bikini wax with them if I forget and pull my pants down without thinking first.

Squiff70 · 03/04/2022 23:54

I feel your pain. Not that long ago I actively tried to hunt down towels without wings. Asda don't sell ANY without! I found some eventually in Home Bargains and think they were Bodyform if that helps. Hope you manage to find what you need!
