I doubt Ukraine will even play their qualifier. The people there have more important things on their minds at the moment than football, and some of the national team have joined the army.

You can support more than one team - it would only be an issue if/when they happened to be drawn against each other.

This was obviously meant to be on the lighter side, I am sure that if this horrible situation is still on going then Ukraine wont play, but if they do then I hope they win.

Ah, I don't follow football so I didn't know that, sorry. But that will only be one match, won't it? If they both get through the first round they won't play against each other until the end stages. If only one gets through then your allegiance problem is solved.

I think they will. There are lots of Ukrainians abroad, including a number of footballers, and it's clearly a pretty important part of their national defence strategy to make sure their situation continues to be high profile, so ordinary people in the countries that have been helping them keep up the pressure on their governments to continue.

Ukraine needs not to be forgotten, and their government clearly know that. That's why Zelensky's media strategy and engagement has been such a high priority for him. To that end, playing possibly two high profile football matches against teams from one of the countries that's provided them with substantial military aid is a helpful opportunity.

Russia aren't in it, they got kicked out of the qualifiers. I assume OP is referring to that...

Ukraine are ONLY in the same group as England if they qualify. They still have to win a playoff against Scotland first. A game I hope Scotland win (if it’s ever rescheduled.)

As a Scotland fan I'm a bit annoyed our only chance of qualifying appears to be knocking out Ukraine. Whichever of the two go through I do hope put England out though. But I agree with pp, I'd kind of like the Qatar world Cup to be boycotted anyway.

For what it's worth I'll happily cheer on Ukraine vs England if they qualify.

As a Scotland fan I'm a bit annoyed our only chance of qualifying appears to be knocking out Ukraine. Whichever of the two go through I do hope put England out though. But I agree with pp, I'd kind of like the Qatar world Cup to be boycotted anyway.

Don't be so ridiculous! If England are playing Ukraine they've already beaten my team to get there. I have no loyalty to any of the home sides bar my own, so yes. I'll cheer on Ukraine, not because they're playing against England or Iran or USA but because they deserve my support.

But don't let simple facts get in the way of that stick up your arse.

Just came on to say Ukraine aren't there yet just like Scotland and wales are not yet either.

I'm Scottish and had tickets for the qualifier. Was really looking forward to it, before the events in Ukraine which puts football into perspective.
