Anyone got their council tax rebate today

Not very clear when in April it's due, my bill comes out on the 15th for example of this month, so would I need to wait until after then?

My council (Leeds) is advising they'll pay it (if you pay by DD) by the end of April.

I very much doubt any council will be organised enough to make that volume of payments for the first of April.

My council are saying 'sometime in April..' I phoned to set up a direct debit so it can be paid directly in when it does come and was told there was no rush because the date of the rebate hadn't even been discussed yet Confused

No doubt most of the councils will fuck it up and it’ll be months before people see their rebate

I got mine yesterday and so did my work colleagues, but we work for the council and it came in our wage packet.

My council sent out a thing saying sign up for DD so we can pay it quickly. I was hoping it would be before the end of the month as it would come in handy but I’m not holding my breath

Wish I was as lucky. We're only getting the £150 support Sunak announced. Which council is doing rebates, OP?

My council says payments will be during April and May. I'm not holding my breath.

Our council has advised that recipients should expect it shortly after the April CT payment has been made, so I guess they are managing it via DD dates

I feel quite sorry for the staff in the Council Tax dept.
The way this has been organised is going to cost the Councils a fortune.
Why didn't he just knock 10% off everyone on bands A-D which is equivalent to one payment?

How come? The council would have had to set up a special payment scheme for employees to get the rebate, and then cross reference with your address to ensure you don’t get paid again when the bulk payments are sent out. Sounds like a lot of extra work & expense to do that.

And if paid in your wages, did you pay tax on it?

I know what you mean. We get to pay more for council tax and energy..

Our LA are giving the support to band Es out of their own coffers. Doesnt affect me because I'm in a Band A flat, but at least it means more people are getting help.

£150 Council Tax Energy rebate is how it's referred to on our LA website.

So it is a rebate.
