Did Covid make you feel sick?

JKDcot · 24/03/2022 19:25

I’ve tested positive for Covid and my main symptom is nausea? I feel really sick and upset tummy. I have other symptoms like sore throat, blocked nose etc.

Anyone else?

Yes I was really sick on the first day

WhatTheWhoTheWhatThe · 24/03/2022 19:30

Yes started with sore throat and blocked nose on day 1, day 2 and 3 was awful vomiting and then nausea for the next few days after.

SickAndTiredAgain · 24/03/2022 19:31

Yes, I had bad nausea, wasn’t actually sick though.
Also had bad stomach cramps and mild diarrhoea. Didn’t really have any non-gastric symptoms, other than general tiredness/malaise.

KrisAkabusi · 24/03/2022 19:31

I have it now, with sore throat, cough, joint pain and muscle aches, no appetite and taste buds gone. But no nausea.

JKDcot · 24/03/2022 19:31

I didn’t realise?! Nausea is never listed as a symptom? Did it pass quickly?

DH had awful sickness on day 10 which was very unexpected lol

Sparklesocks · 24/03/2022 19:33

One thing I’ve learnt from friends and family catching it is that it really seems to vary person to person in how it affects you. I’ve known the nausea for some, general flu feelings for others - and one person had a terribly irritated bladder and couldn’t stop going to the loo. 111 told him that it inflames muscles and the bladder is a muscle, with others apparently achey joints etc.

EatSleepReplete · 24/03/2022 19:36

Not me but DH. He had horrendous vomiting from about day 3 to day 9, then intermittently for about 2 months afterwards.

JKDcot · 24/03/2022 19:36

Definitely different symptoms for everyone then. I have the needing to pee all the time too. And horrible taste in mouth. Generally it’s yukky

I have it at the moment and have all these symptoms... if I didn't know better I'd think I had morning sickness. The horrible taste reminds me of being pregnant too!

LabelMaker · 24/03/2022 19:42

Yup. And I'm still suffering one month on.

JKDcot · 24/03/2022 19:43

Yes I thought it feels like morning sickness. That rolling nausea and thick tongue / sicky feeling in your throat. Total yuk.

Madre123 · 24/03/2022 19:45

I was sick every day...

buckleten · 24/03/2022 19:46

Yes! Very like morning sickness, but was not actually sick - also had some tummy cramps. The sickness disappeared after a few days thankfully.

user1471543683 · 24/03/2022 19:47

Nausea was my worst symptom with Covid. It was always worse in the morning and eased off as the day went on. I had it for at least 10 days and it has gone away

TheKeatingFive · 24/03/2022 19:48

Yes! Very like morning sickness

Yes me too. Not enough to put me off food though, similar to morning sickness in that eating something bland and salty helped.

Phormiumjester · 24/03/2022 19:51

Eurgh yup. Nausea and I woke up so dizzy I threw up in the night on day 4 or 5

glasgowLil · 24/03/2022 19:51

Yes! Really grim. I ate lots of plain biscuits to try and distract myself from it. Also sucking boiled sweets helps. Hope you feel better soon.

JKDcot · 24/03/2022 19:57

Thank you everyone. Unfortunately I have a pretty bad vomit phobia so feeling quite sorry for myself. I know a lot more is going on in the world so don’t want to complain…

I’ve taken some cyclizine that I was prescribed for morning sickness. Hope it takes the edge off. Haven’t tried eating something to see if that helps. Might try some toast

Silly question, how do we count the days? Is day 1 the first day of symptoms?

Bizawit · 24/03/2022 19:59

Yes I had sever D&V, only lasted about 24 hours though. Otherwise I was just exhausted and had a mild tickly throat.

JKDcot · 24/03/2022 20:01

I assume day 1 is from symptoms as the test took a few days to turn positive. My husband felt rough on Friday but didn’t test positive until Monday…

VestaTilley · 24/03/2022 20:05

No, but I’ve got a friend whose parents have it and they’re throwing up with it. In my experience the symptoms are very wide ranging and go far beyond the cough/loss of taste and smell/high temp that are officially given.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 24/03/2022 20:06

Yep day 3-6 I had nausea every night similar to when I was pregnant- only thing that helped was going to bed. V strange

JKDcot · 24/03/2022 20:08

Thank you for the advice. Cup of tea, try and eat a dry biscuit and sleep…
