…the Ukraine resistance against Russian troups to the British voting to leave the EU.

From the BBC: he said Britons, like Ukrainians, had the instinct "to choose freedom", citing the 2016 vote to leave the EU as a "famous recent example".

Seeing the death and destruction on t.v. and thinking it’s a good analogy? I don’t get what could possibly be going through his mind to even think this.

OP posts:

I bet Putin was delighted about Brexit as well. And he had absolutely definitely nothing to do with the result.

SickAndTiredAgain · 19/03/2022 23:21

YANBU, it’s a ridiculous comparison. The EU are not Britain’s version of Putin invading and the instinct “to choose freedom” by ticking a box in a voting booth is really not comparable to any Ukrainian instinct to fight for freedom.

I think he just really loves using the word freedom as much as possible. And he’s a complete idiot.

Kendodd · 19/03/2022 23:24

And he’s a complete idiot.
Johnson isn't an idiot, the voters who support him are though.

StoneofDestiny · 19/03/2022 23:24

Crass to compare the two. Can Johnson not see people in Ukraine are fighting for their lives, defending their country from annihilation and seeing their family members slung into burial pits or fleeing with a suitcase of possessions! How more asinine can Johnson get.

Utterly ashamed he is Prime Minister.

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 19/03/2022 23:25

What an incredibly twattish thing to say

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 19/03/2022 23:27

Agreed

(Johnson is still an idiot though…)

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 20/03/2022 01:03

Utterly disgraceful. I can’t really believe it, even if him

ThePrincessSleptFor100Years · 20/03/2022 01:07

Not unreasonable.

But let’s face it. The shock factor is really wearing off now. I for one am becoming desensitised to the utter shite that comes out of his mouth these days. Nothing is a big deal scandal any more because fuck all gets done about it and nothing changes so what is even the point.

Agree too.

But Boris is still a desperate, crass excuse for a PM and op yanbu

AlexaShutUp · 20/03/2022 01:32

Really crass and incredibly offensive to the Ukrainian people. He makes me sick, and I hate the fact that he is trying to capitalise on Ukraine's suffering to bolster his own position in the wake of partygate. He is a disgrace and an embarrassment to our nation.

liliainterfrutices · 20/03/2022 01:38

Who the hell thinks you’re being unreasonable?! I fucking despair sometimes.

Can you back up your comment "and he's a complete idiot" or is it just hollow words ?
echt · 20/03/2022 01:40

Disapprobation was widespread:

www.theguardian.com/politics/2022/mar/19/pms-comparison-of-ukraine-resistance-to-uk-brexit-vote-criticised-as-crass

And the irony that Ukraine wanted to, and still wants to join the EU.

What a knob end.

TooBigForMyBoots · 20/03/2022 01:41

PM Johnson is an inappropriate person and total dick.

Seriously, that's your credibility sources, I weep for the future of society.

Hawkins001 · 20/03/2022 01:47

@TooBigForMyBoots

PM Johnson is an inappropriate person and total dick.
Why not engage in an analysis and debate rather than just name calling ?
Hawkins001 · 20/03/2022 01:50

Anyways I defended the head of mi6 and I'm guessing I'll get similar responses here.
So to all that read this, why name call and character assassinate ? Does it make those that do feel better ? Why would you spend time gutter talking when you can debate and constructive analysis different perspectives ?

Hawkins001 · 20/03/2022 01:51

*Analyse

liliainterfrutices · 20/03/2022 01:59

Comments such as he has made are so crass and inappropriate that they don’t actually merit analysis or debate.

TooBigForMyBoots · 20/03/2022 02:01

He's a lying, inappropriate, atrocious cunt. How fucking dare he compare the plight of Ukrainians to the voters he hoodwinked into Brexit.

Susu49 · 20/03/2022 02:02

@Hawkins001 because perhaps those who are still awake in the early hours really can't be bothered and prefer to agree by giving an emotional response?

Susu49 · 20/03/2022 02:02

I mean the man did climb into a fridge to avoid a question!!

ChimneyPot · 20/03/2022 02:06

I somehow don’t think Zelensky wrote 2 speeches, one against the Russian invasion and the other welcoming as liberators before deciding which side he was on.

Momijin · 20/03/2022 02:12
