Thanks Tesco. Dear Mum, happy Mother's Day, have some comfy PJ's and some self love. Who doesn't want to have a wank on Mothering Sunday?

Maybe I'm being naive but I didn't think that when I read it Confused

Unsureaboutit9 · 14/03/2022 13:19

I don’t understand… are you implying self love is a dirty term? Think you must have been living under a rock for several years if you’ve missed the self love term around everywere in this way.

Tlollj · 14/03/2022 13:20

No nor me. Thought it was a bubble bath and a glass of something.

AHungryCaterpillar · 14/03/2022 13:20

I don’t get what you’re on about, that’s not what it means

TheUsualShitshow · 14/03/2022 13:20

Nah, I would read that and think wanking too. Because I am 12, presumably Grin

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 14/03/2022 13:21

Yup, I would snigger.

KaptainKaveman · 14/03/2022 13:22

It means love yourself OP. It isn't an order to go and masturbate. FFS. Bunking off today?

HikingforScenery · 14/03/2022 13:35

I wouldn’t have thought that at all.

ENoeuf · 14/03/2022 13:36

Self love - masturbation
Self care - glass of wine and some space from the kids

Surprised no one realised it had another meaning

Cocolapew · 14/03/2022 13:36

I always think that when I see it in on tshirts.

TeeBee · 14/03/2022 13:38

:-D

VittysCardigan · 14/03/2022 13:39

Absolutely thought the same when i saw that in store last week Grin

Ulelia · 14/03/2022 13:39

I'd have sniggered.
Self care is a glass of wine or a bubble bath (I hate that definition, but that's what most mean). Self love means something very different to me!

marvellousnightforamooncup · 14/03/2022 13:43

Self love is definitely wanking. 'Self care' and 'me time' is feet up, relaxo mode.

OP posts:
Lessyuck · 14/03/2022 13:45

Grin love thy self

Fatgalslim · 14/03/2022 13:48

Yep, self love is completely different to self care and I'd have thought the same OP

Mangogogogo · 14/03/2022 13:50

Yep self love and self care are very different! Both fun though Smile

AlwaysLatte · 14/03/2022 13:50

I would have thought it just meant self care, time for yourself. I wouldn't have thought of self pleasure!

Spongeboob · 14/03/2022 13:51

Ha! Grin

cherryonthecakes · 14/03/2022 13:51

Yanbu 🤣

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 14/03/2022 13:53

And spilling of seed isn't being careless with a pomegranate or the budgie's dinner.

TheUsualShitshow · 14/03/2022 15:01

The 'how unseemly posts on this thread are quite funny Grin

ODFOx · 14/03/2022 15:11

Is anyone really so naive?
Self gratification isn't giving yourself a pat on the back for a job well done either.

Correction: on googling it seems that for some (primarily American) authors self love is synonymous with self acceptance.

However British vogue had a full on 'self love in the time of COVID' article which was definitely not about being kind to yourself, but more about things (and gadgets) to make you feel gooood during lockdown. Grin.

cantbecoping · 14/03/2022 15:35

Self care would be more wanky to me now than self love.

Taking care of business while self love is like loving who you are and shit.

Babadook76 · 14/03/2022 15:38

I wouldn’t have thought of it that way, and I’ve generally got a pretty dirty mind :)

I mean I guess it's a nice thought for Mother's Day, pmsl.
