Mine is the starbucks hot chocolate powder that you can get in asda but am looking for others ideas. I am not really a fan of dark chocolate and sweeter the better.

Lindt do one. It's amazing!

enjoyingscience · 11/03/2022 19:28

The kids are obsessed with Asda extra special hot chocolate made with oat milk. It’s really really good to be fair to them. I’d say oat beats dairy for a hot chocolate, especially at bedtime.

@BobHadBitchTits

I used to work in an office where they sold a hot chocolate in a vending machine.

35p. Absolutely amazing.

I too love the vending machine chocolate in an old workplace. Mine was free though.

I've got an Aero one on the go and I'm finding it a bit tasteless

Options Belgian choc powder made with semi skimmed milk and bit of double cream in the Velvetiser

AnotherEmma · 11/03/2022 19:35

Green & Black's hot chocolate with cow's milk or oat milk. Delicious. Chocolately and just the right amount of sweetness (not sickly or bitter).

RealRaymondReddington · 11/03/2022 19:35

I still like nesquik!Blush

MotherofPearl · 11/03/2022 19:35

I dislike UK hot chocolate. Usually it's a giant mug of hot milk with barely a trace of chocolate. I like the small, thick, very strong cups of hot chocolate you get in many continental European countries. I never bother making hot chocolate at home as I've never found a brand I like.

Marimba is the best

Prescottdanni123 · 11/03/2022 19:53

Hotel chocolat is nice but a bit expensive- the salted caramel is good if you want sweetness. I usually just get it at Xmas to make it special.

My favourite day to day brand is twining sweet hot chocolate. Makes a nice, smooth milky hot chocolate. You get a good amount of powder in the tub, it lasts longer than other brands like Cadburys etc. You can always add a teaspoon or two of sugar if you want it sweeter.

Frollop · 11/03/2022 19:57

Green and blacks hot chocolate

Ovaltine hot chocolate is my fav, takes me right back to my childhood Smile

LaBrujaPiruja · 11/03/2022 20:01

@MotherofPearl
If you go to Spain on holiday buy packets of Clavileño o Valor (“chocolate a la taza” is the name of the product). Valor can be found all over Spain; Clavileño is the best brand, but not available everywhere although you can find it easily in any supermarket in the Costa Blanca area (both brands are local). So take a note for your next trip to Alicante / Benidorm.

MotherofPearl · 11/03/2022 20:03

Oooh thanks @LaBrujaPiruja good tip!

Thebestwaytoscareatory · 11/03/2022 20:03

Errol Brown's Hot Chocolate for me.

ivykaty44 · 11/03/2022 20:03

I try others but like options hot choc, usually buy when on offer for £2

I do sometimes make bournville cocoa powder hot chocolate with soya milk - but its certainly not sweet and very dark

FreezyFreezy · 11/03/2022 20:05

A mixture of single cream and full fat milk heated up with a bit of vanilla stirred in and then plenty of milk chocolate curls whisked in until melted and hot enough to serve.

LaBrujaPiruja · 11/03/2022 20:09

For a “olden times” experience, some of these brands still elaborate the “chocolate de la virgen” (because of the image of our lady in the package) which is a chocolate bar where cocoa has been mixed with flour, rice flour or cornflour and dissolves in boiling milk creating the dark thick chocolate I think you would like.
