Just that really!! So, there are 2 main reasons I won’t get a dog..1 I am allergic to most and 2 I just hate the thought of picking up after them. Of course my supposed friend knows this, but as she had just had her nails done, she asked me to pick up after her dog! She got really pissed off with me when I said no and said if ruins her nails it’s my fault. She picked it up and went off in a huff. So wise mumsnetters, wibu??

I don't think anyone rational will disagree with that

MangoBiscuit · 07/03/2022 13:09

How the fuck is picking it up if she thinks it's going to ruin her nails? Actually, scrap that, not sure I want to know. I think I'd avoid shaking hands with her in future though.

WorraLiberty · 07/03/2022 13:11

I don't really know why you're asking such and obvious question.

Arabellla · 07/03/2022 13:13

YANBU 100%. Does she often act like she is superior to you?

Arabellla · 07/03/2022 13:13

I don't know why you're commenting if you think it's obvious.
GoogleWhacked · 07/03/2022 13:14

I completely agree with you. Her dog, her dog shit = she picks it up.
For some bizarre reason 4% of people think YABU, can any one of those explain why???

WorraLiberty · 07/03/2022 13:19

I don't know why you're commenting if you think it's obvious.

Because this is a chat forum.

Then let OP chat.
WorraLiberty · 07/03/2022 13:28

I'm not stopping her from chatting, am I? 🙄

This may come as a shock to you @Arabellla but people on this chat forum sometimes disagree with an OP, or point out that they don't know why they're asking something.

It tends to promote chat, rather than closing it down...

You were absolutely not unreasonable. I love my dog but disposing of dog excrement is hardly the most pleasant of the tasks I have to do as a dog owner. The key words here are my dog and dog owner. I have the fun. I get the Iove and no one other than me is responsible for her care. If she thinks that disposing of her own dog's poo will ruin her nails, she shouldn't get her nails done.

WhiteXmas21 · 07/03/2022 13:32

YANBU. Adore my dogs, but it’s like every other unpleasant job, it’s different when the dog is your own.

Sippingonginandjuice77 · 07/03/2022 13:33

Thanks all. I guess I was just questioning myself really. She has since text me saying I’m stuck up and selfish.. @Arabellla not usually, just seems to be when she has had certain beauty treatments done! She refused to give me a lift somewhere once as she didn’t want her new hairdo getting messed up by leaving the house

Beamur · 07/03/2022 13:34

Dog poo is 100% owners responsibility.
I really can't see how it would affect her nails though? I tend to use a bag rather than my bare hands..

DrManhattan · 07/03/2022 13:34

Your mate is cheeky as foooook

WouldIwasShookspeared · 07/03/2022 13:35

She sounds like a twat

Iamkmackered1979 · 07/03/2022 13:35

If new nails interfere with her dog shit picking up she needs to thing again re having nails or having a dog
Gross sorry the thought of having long nails and trying to pick up poo and the nails go through the bag. Your friend is pathetic. Did she think she could have nails and just get a lackey to pick up after her /her dog
She’d have been in no doubt on my feelings re her predicament had it been me. Cheeky bitch

RealBecca · 07/03/2022 13:35

Who are the 7% who think YABU?!?!?!

MintyFreshBreath · 07/03/2022 13:36

I’m not a doggy person at all, not even an animal person. That’s my disclaimer. However, I’m isolated instances, I’d do it for a good friend because I like my friends. If she’s always a CF, then I see your point. Otherwise you’re both just being divas.

MintyFreshBreath · 07/03/2022 13:36

*in isolated instances

other CF's who've just had their nails done and want their mates to pick up dog poo?
helenshair · 07/03/2022 13:38

Of course YANBU. I'd never ask someone else to pick up after my dog whether or not they had a dog of their own, liked dogs or anything else. He's my dog, my responsibility. If having a dog messes up your nails Confused then either don't get your nails done or pay a dog walker.

MatildaTheCat · 07/03/2022 13:38

I have a back injury and a dog. When I walk with other dog owners they nearly always pick up for me. When I’m with non dog owners they very rarely offer and I’d never dream of asking.

I also never pick up random dog poo even if it’s sitting there next to the one I’m picking up from my dog. It’s a thing.

You friend is just a dick though.

diddl · 07/03/2022 13:44

"She refused to give me a lift somewhere once as she didn’t want her new hairdo getting messed up by leaving the house"

That might be fair enough though irregardless of the new hairdo.

Yeah this is what I thought. What's the big deal.

There's a possible scenario here where she innocently just didn't think through the predicament she might find herself in. I don't really get how manicures work, or why someone would end up walking a dog with wet nails, but if putting her hand in the inside out bag would ruin a £25 manicure then why would she not ask? I don't necessarily think you were being unreasonable to say no, that's your prerogative, but I can see why she was a bit pissy you couldn't just do her a favour. I don't think I know anyone who would be that precious about picking up dog poo.

SpilltheTea · 07/03/2022 13:52

I'd have laughed. No way would I be picking up dog shit. Silly, entitled cow.
