I'm just speechless at what he's doing, poor innocent people are dieing and getting hurt because of him trying to take over another country for no bloody reason??? Why can't the world come together and stop this!!!!
I can't stop watching and reading in horror. Iv now just seen an 18m old die on the news tonight.
What is happening in 2022??? Surely the world shouldn't be going through this now???

Surely if the SAS went in and did for him, it would be an act of war.

The First World War started over an assassination.

And their will always be war in one form or another, even if the world eventually achieves peace, how long before we meet the asgard, gould, ori type beings ect from across the galaxies ?*

I was hoping for the vulkans but the way technology is going we are more likely to become the borg

To be honest to survive out there, being the Borg and using their philosophy of assimilation of knowledge, may help humans survive in the galaxies.

It's a political hot potatoe, so to speak.

@MysweetAudrina

If only Bond hadn't died.
We need the unit team,
VanGoghsDog · 06/03/2022 00:02

The picture was fake, super imposed. There was video footage.
Yes, the video was fake.

Exactly we've already got form for war crimes, we dont need to do any more

I think it’s almost certain that all his food and drink is prepared under the watch of others and tasted by some poor tester for any poisons, prior to him eating it.

He is a pretty paranoid guy by all accounts. Though judging by the methods HE has sanctioned to get rid of his opponents, that’s hardly surprising.

Rinoachicken · 06/03/2022 00:16

Meant to add, doesn’t make it an impossible option by any means, but certainly not an easy or simple one.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 06/03/2022 00:17

Oh that's interesting the meeting with the ladies was faked. Makes sense though. If he's been that seriously paranoid about isolating because of Covid it did seem a weird 180 to make. But I bet he's been eaten up with jealousy at the whole legend of Zeldensky that's just exploded. Putin spent years trying to portray himself as Mr Alpha, those ridic topless shots on horseback etc. and then the Ukrainian pres (who he thought would flee) has become this overnight icon. Putin must have felt the pressure to try and make himself seem more manly and virile, so came up with a faked video where he's surrounded by adoring ladies? Tragic.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 06/03/2022 00:20

Zelensky, not Zeldensky.

Sorry, Volodymyr!

Hospedia · 06/03/2022 00:20

He has to eat though, something can be slipped into that

He'll have tasters to try his food first and/or leverage against the kitchen staff.

Important to remember too that many ordinary Russians won't be getting the full story of what is going on due to propaganda.

No not at all,

Yes I thought afterwards about the tasters, like old monarchs used to do. I suppose what you need is someone who is willing to sacrifice themselves with a slow acting poison which wouldnt be spotted in the first few hours or days but takes effect longer term. Although as you say all the watchful eyes. Im sounding like a mad dictator now!

I would love to visit Russia one day, Im fascinated with the history, the culture, the sound and the exoticism (in my head) but its a strange state/nation/country

Everyone keeps saying "... in 2022!' as if we humans today are any different to the humans of 1914 or 1938 when the first two world wars started. I remember being a child at the Imperial War Museum in London and reading that since the end of WW2, there have only been 2 minutes of complete peace in the world. 2 whole minutes where there was no country waging war on another. What makes everyone think we are so superior now? We are just the same monsters in 2022 as we have been in every other year througout history Misses point of thread .

Rosieposie101 · 06/03/2022 01:11

Its absolutely true and why it irks me when people act as if when this ends, it will be 'ok again', as if its ever been ok.

Or to be shocked at whats happening to people as if its been years since the last time, no these things are happening to people right now all over the world.

Exactly! And to top it off there are 21(!!!!) years between the two wars. I don't think Joe Blocks had forgotten about the horrors of WWI back in 1939 and happily marched into the battle filed.... but they did it anyway.
Human nature doesn't change, however much we want to believe it.

puddlesofmothers · 06/03/2022 01:33

I don't believe in the death penalty however I would welcome the assassination of Putin.

I keep hearing "but he would be replaced". It doesn't matter what we think hear on MN but I do wander why this is considered a reasonable reply to removing him? Anything that causes even a minor disruption to the war is a good thing surely. No one ever backs up "but he would be replaced" with reasoning.

Marzipanfruit · 06/03/2022 01:40

Wish there were a God then he would be going to hell. Crying for the mother and father on the news tonight.

MrsTerryPratchett · 06/03/2022 01:44

the soft bast%#*

He's trained KGB. Bastard he is, soft he's not.

And he knows all the tricks. I guarantee his chefs' and bodyguards' families are somewhere 'safe'.

Furries · 06/03/2022 01:55

I bet the only “beings” that get properly close to him are his beloved dogs. One of them needs sprinkling with novichock just before a cuddle session. Yes, the dog would also die, but I imagine a good few statues would be erected in its name.

I love dogs, btw!

Because then you could potentially get a leader worse, that couple potentially actually launch a full scale military action rather than proxy battles.

Is this some weird Putin defence?

Confused Confused

He is literally threatening military action.

In my opinion the next Russian leader will be desperate to revive the Russian economy. To do that they need to make moves that are appealing to the West.

Do you mean 1939?

To be fair, that is almost a century ago. It's not unreasonable that people are shocked at the outbreak of war in Europe today. How old are you? I feel you're trying to convey a world weariness that may be at odds with your age. I might be wrong.

Also, the whole 'misses point of thread' thing, I find that boring at the best of times, but on a thread like this it seems extra trivial. Fine on a thread about MIL wars, a bit crass in this context.
