Am not sure what to think here...DSD is 13, I've been with her dad 18 years and married. Apparently she's always known she was conceived on valentines day (I find this very odd, I mean who tells their children when they had sex??) So for her 13th birthday her mother has changed her birthday certificate to valentine as her middle name. WTF???

If your step daughter is 13 Joe have you been with her dad 18 years?

BluebellsGreenbells · 04/03/2022 18:39

My children k ow where they were conceived - don’t see that as a problem

Changing her name? Assume DSD agrees with the change?

18 years together and a 13 year old DSD??

Easterbunnyiswindowshopping · 04/03/2022 18:39

She is 13 and you have been with her df for 18 years??

Mummytobe93 · 04/03/2022 18:39

That’s indeed cringeworthy- to have your middle name changed to remember the day of your conception.

Speak of which, was she conceived during your marriage with her father?

Chloemol · 04/03/2022 18:39

Each to their own, wouldn’t worry me

Although I might be concerned that you have been with him 18 years and he has a 13 year old with another woman

lunar1 · 04/03/2022 18:41

She's changing her daughters name to reflect a day she slept with a married man?

Iseofskye123 · 04/03/2022 18:42

Sorry typo, 10 years!!!!

It's 10 years! Fat fingers!

Isn’t Brooklyn Beckham so called as that’s where he was conceived? So although I wouldn’t do it myself it is not that odd in the sense that others have done similar.

cansu · 04/03/2022 19:32

It's weird and a bit tasteless but not any of your business really

I guess so but I feel like after so long of being divorced, it's even odder!

I think it is a bit gross to discuss conception with your chuildren. Heston Blumenthall once told a journalist he was called Heston as he was conceived in a parking lot inHEston Services (untrue), but on publication his parents were livid.

WonderfulYou · 04/03/2022 19:38

I think it’s a rubbish present for a 13 year old, I hope she got other things too.

But many kids know where they were conceived so I don’t think it’s that odd, especially if it’s in a special place.
Some mums have a very close relationship with their DDs and share things like this.

KindlyKanga · 04/03/2022 19:39

Not really any of your business but I wouldn't do that to my child.

RoseGoldEagle · 04/03/2022 19:42

If this is real, then yes this is bizarre, but so identifying that it seems pretty mean to put online.

Iseofskye123 · 04/03/2022 19:44

I'm not disagreeing that it's none of my business, I am just a bit baffled at why someone would share this information with a child

OP posts:
frazzledasarock · 04/03/2022 19:44

That’s just entirely bizarre.

I don’t know any teen who’s proudly declare my middle name is Valentines/October whatever because that’s when I was conceived!

Alicenwonderland · 04/03/2022 19:46

I thought you'd need both parents permission to change her name. What does you DH say?

gogohm · 04/03/2022 19:46

Bit weird. Dd knows where she was conceived because exh told her (has happy memories still) but dd is an adult

Alicenwonderland · 04/03/2022 19:47

A friend of mine loved her name until she found out she was named after her Dads favourite porn star! 😳😵‍💫

That's true hope mum isn't on here.
HopeYourHighHorseBucks · 04/03/2022 19:48

I find it weird but ultimately its no ones business. What a strange thing to tell your child though.

I just asked my child Daisy fireworksnight2016 Bucks and she agrees.

Darbs76 · 04/03/2022 19:48

My friends DD has a middle name after a place where she was conceived but it’s not obvious - and I don’t know if she knows. But yeah not for me!

Christ, that's revolting. What a dreadful thing to do to a child, especially a girl.
