He was only 52

One of the greatest cricketers of all time. I saw him play in an Ashes series. A real game changer in every sense.

Legend. RIP.

lifeturnsonadime · 04/03/2022 14:41

My son just told me this. Terribly sad and such a young age.

A true sporting legend.

Pegasushaswings · 04/03/2022 14:54

Same age as me, shocked to hear this news .

Roominmyhouse · 04/03/2022 14:55

52 is still so young isn’t it. Very sad.

TeapotCollection · 04/03/2022 14:56

Shocking. I’m not a cricket fan but I really liked him, always seemed a good laugh

BoreOfWhabylon · 04/03/2022 14:58

A sad day for Australian cricket with Rod Marsh and Shane Warne both dying on the same day.

FlippyFloppyFlappy · 04/03/2022 15:05

Really sad news. 52, no age at all, his poor children and parents 😞

MrWhippyBloon · 04/03/2022 15:07

I am so shocked, can't believe it. He was still so young and seemed to be in good shape. Very sad 😔

FiveGoMadInDorset · 04/03/2022 15:15

A legend on and off the pitch RIP Shane

DillDanding · 04/03/2022 15:16

Can’t believe it. Knew him, but only through friends. He was outrageous and wild, but also generous and kind.

DramaAlpaca · 04/03/2022 15:16

Oh no! Such a legend. RIP Shane.

Candleabra · 04/03/2022 15:19

Really genuinely shocked to read this. I liked him a lot.

BrideofAberdeen · 04/03/2022 15:23

Can’t believe it. Saw him on a program about the Hundred last week and he was so knowledgeable and really cared about all the young cricketers and their development. So sad

fussychica · 04/03/2022 15:24

So shocked to hear this. Just awful. Only watched the excellent documentary about him on Saturday night. A sporting legend.

fussychica · 04/03/2022 15:25

The documentary is on Amazon.

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 04/03/2022 15:25

An amazing cricketer & a global hero. The first cricketer I remember from my youth. So sad.

BringMeTea · 04/03/2022 15:27

So shocking. I always harboured a secret hope he and Liz would reunite. They always looked so happy together. RIP.

notimagain · 04/03/2022 15:52

Awful awful news…that delivery only seems like five minutes ago:

Cricket has always been my favourite sport, and Warnie was one of my absolute heroes. He was simply the greatest spin bowler in the history of the game. I’m just stunned by this news. 52 is no age at all. Condolences to his loved ones.

georgarina · 04/03/2022 15:56

Wait what? RIP x

Ekerty72 · 04/03/2022 15:56

What sad news :-(

I was only watching the Kath and Kim episode last night where he played the Shane Warne impersonator "Wayne". He must of been a right laugh to get involved.

A very sad loss and such a young age :-(

Sexnotgender · 04/03/2022 16:02

Really sad news. 52 is no age at all.

Gonnagetgoing · 04/03/2022 16:21

Very sad poor man. I wonder if he had an undiagnosed heart condition.

My DF died at 50 of a heart attack but had an enlarged heart which he knew nothing about, he'd also been an alcoholic for at least 15 years though which can't have helped and wasn't registered with a GP.

AladdinPrincess999 · 04/03/2022 16:28

Ive just seen this in the papers. So sad. I remember him when I was little. RIP.

He only posted a tweet 14 hours ago, saying RIP to someone else. Now he's gone. So sad.

The RIP was with regard to Rodney Marsh..(the Aussie Wicketkeeper from a while back).
