I’d be fuming. Reckon the picker did it on purpose? 🤣

BluerThanRobinsEggs · 02/03/2022 19:56

It's a safety measure so you don't cut yourself when you open them.

Bringonsummer19 · 02/03/2022 19:58

It’s a reminder it’s not the 1980s anymore….

Sad face article in the Daily Mail immediately!!! You’ll get a lifetime supply of corned beef keys out of it for sure.

Oh dear god. The insanity.

Although that reminds me they did once deliver a selection of DVDs with the security things still on. I was up a godforsaken hill in Wales with poorly DCs and had to attempt to break into the casing with a blunt knife and child's scissors ....

For those of you implying corned beef is not an AMAZING food. I pity you. Corned beef on toast is where its at!!!

I have my sad face ready, I even have my 6 year old niece here to add an extra layer of sadness to the story.

I mean I've opened it with a tin opener and all but goddammit that was a faff. Give me my keys!!!

I rediscovered a can of corned beef at the back of the food cupboard last week and thought I'd use it. Not my dream meal but I remember CB & mash as a kid with lashings of ketchup! Decided to use the key but bloody hell did that go tits up - the strip of metal didn't pull away properly then twisted and dragged down the tin. It began to look like an evil weapon out to cut me up. Took 10 mins to extricate the delicious (not) contents.

KindlyKanga · 02/03/2022 20:28

I was with you until you said you put it on toast

1forAll74 · 02/03/2022 20:29

I have had this a few times over the years,, so I always save a few of the openers in a kitchen drawer now, just unrabble the metal, and take the opener key off.

Whenigrowupiwanttobea · 02/03/2022 20:48

eosmum · 02/03/2022 20:48

The Aldi lady told me that the key thingy can be used for a trolly token so they get taken.
