It's McDonalds. Not MacDonalds. Has always been McDonalds as far as I can tell. Everyone calls it McDonalds. Except on Mumsnet. Why? And AIBU for finding it absolutely infuriating? It is one of the biggest brands in the world and whether or not you eat there surely it's not that difficult so spell it correctly?

😂 I read the thread title and thought huh, we didn't get the faux MacDonalds nonsense this time.

I thought this was going to be about what everyone's preferred order is, though, as it was spelled correctly 😂😂

Londondreams1 · 20/02/2022 22:15

I can’t unlearn “Tescos”

LottyD32 · 20/02/2022 22:17

@pieonthesofa

Maccies I will accept as it's not spelt wrong but more of a nickname. See also McDs etc :).

Good point about the Big Mac I didn't think of that.

I did think it was showing ooooooh look how infrequently I eat there I don't even know what it's called. But the signs are bloody everywhere you don't have to eat there to know what it is called!

This. It's one of the biggest brands in the world ffs.

@Classica

In Glasgow Asda is called...The Asda.

As though it's the Taj Mahal or something.

This post made me smile

@FatFredsFriedEgg

AIBU to point out that it's McDonald's, not McDonalds?

YANBU. OP, first rule of SPAG pedantry is to get your own house in order first.

GeorgiaGirl52 · 20/02/2022 22:29

We go to Mickey D's.

genome · 20/02/2022 22:30

My kids call it Old Mac Donalds 🤣 I feel like maybe the OP is on my local FB group where there was much discussion about the reopening date of the local branch and someone corrected those saying MacDonalds.

Clarabellawilliamson · 20/02/2022 22:34

We call it old Macdonalds too- that's what the kids think it's called.

My daughter was also very confused this week that the sign just said 'Asda' and not 'Big Asda' which is what she thought it was actually called...

lalafam · 20/02/2022 22:34

Maccy Dees

It was this way in my home town.

Everyone, around 5pm, was always going up The Asda to get their tea.
I moved 2 hours away and here people at 5pm go up To Asda to get some dinner.

Weird.

GlitterSquid · 20/02/2022 22:36

We have a Morrisons near work. Everyone I work with calls it Mogadons.

"Just nipping round to Mogadons. Want anything?" 😂

Oh, the shame of it all. Blush

BadLad · 20/02/2022 22:36

@user1471530109

Grin I always get confused after the Eddie Murphy film 'coming to america'. I'm sure they say it's Macdonald's as the family had a Scottish themed restaurant called McDonald's...I haven't seen it for well over 20 years. I may be making it all up!
McDowell's, I think.
Desiredeffect · 20/02/2022 22:38

Maccies

ASeriesOfTubes · 20/02/2022 22:52

Maccy Dees/Maccy D's/etc.

Why "abbreviate" it to something that's the same number of syllables?

Cheesecakeandwineinasuitcase · 20/02/2022 22:55

We call it Mucky D’s in our house

BlissfullyIgnorant · 20/02/2022 23:06

MuckDonald's

Widgets · 20/02/2022 23:12

Another vote here for Maccie D’s

My friends little boy only eats the fries, he calls is chippy Donald’s

WeaverofWords · 21/02/2022 00:43

We used to always call it The Golden Arches or the Scottish Restaurant until ds as a toddler referred to it as Mucky Donald’s, which stuck!

Blackmagicqueen · 21/02/2022 09:24

Do you think it is a regional thing op? Alot of people call it macdonalds or maccie d's where I live. They go there frequently and it isn't a 'oh I don't know what it's called because I don't go there' thing at all.

RockstarDotCom · 21/02/2022 09:31

I only ever notice the ‘M’ sign. 😬

Although I actually don’t eat there. 😇😅

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 21/02/2022 09:36

MaccyD 😃😃😃

Mollysocks · 21/02/2022 09:44

I really don’t understand ASDAL? Where’s the L coming from? I can forgive ASDAs but L? Confused

RockstarDotCom · 21/02/2022 09:52

I think the fact that there’s also surnames that start Mc and Mac causes confusion.

And there’s other brands/shops that we see often like Claire’s and Clark’s which I never know if they’re spelt Clare’s and Clarkes. 🤪

Happy36 · 21/02/2022 09:57

It's McDo Grin
