It's McDonalds. Not MacDonalds. Has always been McDonalds as far as I can tell. Everyone calls it McDonalds. Except on Mumsnet. Why? And AIBU for finding it absolutely infuriating? It is one of the biggest brands in the world and whether or not you eat there surely it's not that difficult so spell it correctly?

It's Maccy D's in this house. Or 'the golden arches'.

I have never seen it as MacDonalds on MN. Confused But if someone ever did type it like that i would know what they meant-which is the main thing.

Sparklingbrook · 20/02/2022 19:37

@DoctorSnortles

It’s ‘Sainsbos’ that gives me the perimenopausal killing-rage. I only ever see it on here and I automatically assume the poster is some sort of half-wit who talks about ‘hubbies’ ‘biccies’ ‘cuppas’ and going on their ‘holibobs.’
Me too-just say Sainsburys. 'Tescos' gets on my nerves too.
Pyri · 20/02/2022 19:38

Don’t they call it “vile”?

Suzyinthesummertime · 20/02/2022 19:39

@MaryAndHerNet

It's MuckDonalds Cause it's muck. Horrible crappy food that I rarely enjoy but keep testing... 😴

The only bit I notice of the sign is the massive great big M to be honest

IckyPeas · 20/02/2022 19:41

Me too-just say Sainsburys. 'Tescos' gets on my nerves too omg.. I just realised I say Tescos but have no idea why I started. I will stop immediately. I think coz round here some people call it ASDAL.

TheWeeDonkey · 20/02/2022 19:41

You carry on saying Tescos if you want! I heard someone pronounce Prosecco as Pro-seek-o this week so that annoyed me more. Grin

Asdal? Grin

Treaclepie19 · 20/02/2022 19:45

This really bugs me. My ds has started saying MACdonalds and it drives me insane. Just one of those things that grates on me 😬

EeeICouldRipATissue · 20/02/2022 19:46

Just thought I'd leave that earworm for you!

Angry Thanks for that lol Grin
Twotinydictators · 20/02/2022 19:46

DS used to call it HotDonalds when he was a toddler...absolutely no idea what that was about but it he used to insist he was right which was all the funnier!

JackieCollinshasnoauthority · 20/02/2022 19:46

Took my 80 year old aunty there once and she forever more referred to it as "Macdougall's" Grin

EeeICouldRipATissue · 20/02/2022 19:47

Asda

Chavda

(disclaimer I love Asda really)

FTEngineerM · 20/02/2022 19:48

@piglet81

I think people misspell it on purpose to show that it’s really not their sort of place dahling Wink

Or perhaps autocorrect.

Definitely this.

My mother does this all the time with other stuff too, pretends not to know things so she can’t be seen as one of the peasants.

IckyPeas · 20/02/2022 19:52

Asdal? welcome to Brizzle. It's dying out but was very common to hear when I was younger.

whoami24601 · 20/02/2022 19:54

This is outing but it's Happy Happy Donald's in our house. DS2 renamed it when he was a toddler and it stuck Grin

NetballHoop · 20/02/2022 19:54

Mc, Mac and M' are all the same.

So stick that up your kilt. :)

user1471530109 · 20/02/2022 19:59

Grin I always get confused after the Eddie Murphy film 'coming to america'. I'm sure they say it's Macdonald's as the family had a Scottish themed restaurant called McDonald's...I haven't seen it for well over 20 years. I may be making it all up!

user1471530109 · 20/02/2022 20:00

And my DD christened it Octdonalds. We still call it that and she's 12 now Grin

BoredZelda · 20/02/2022 20:01

Got think of a time I've read "MacDonalds" on MN at all.

There’s a thread at the moment about it where two out of dozens and dozens of posters have called it wrong. Obviously we know in MN world, that translates to people getting it wrong all the time.

VodselForDinner · 20/02/2022 20:01

It’s actually “McDonald’s”.
BoredZelda · 20/02/2022 20:03

Don’t they call it “vile”?

Only if they are really pious.

TyrannosaurusRegina · 20/02/2022 20:07

For those that say 'I call it maccies'... that's a nickname, not a misspelling.

MacDonalds annoys me too. Surely, unless you're a thicko, you know that it's McDonald's.

TyrannosaurusRegina · 20/02/2022 20:10

My partners surname is McDonald. So it would be OK to apply for a driving licence/passport in the name of MacDonald?
ChocolateRiver · 20/02/2022 20:11

Maccies here too 😀
