Toddler using potty in a restaurant

cambs22 · 19/02/2022 23:03

Am I being unreasonable to think that it's not acceptable for a toddler from another family to use their potty in the middle of a restaurant?
For context, it was 6pm and a family friendly place, but we were eating our dinner a couple of tables away as were several other couples and families.

YANBU. Take the potty to the on site toilets.

Utterly grim.

Ozanj · 19/02/2022 23:05

Of course it isn’t okay. I hope you complained

PurpleDaisies · 19/02/2022 23:06

YANBU at all.

DiddyHeck · 19/02/2022 23:07

YANBU. There's a thread on this subject probably once a fortnight and it's never ok.

GreysEmma · 19/02/2022 23:07

I cannot think of any reason that would be acceptable Shock

OppsUpsSide · 19/02/2022 23:07

YANBU!!!

Topseyt · 19/02/2022 23:08

Not appropriate at all. They should have taken the child into the toilets.

It is effectively someone going to the toilet in the middle of the restaurant, feet away from people who are eating and drinking. Disgusting and unhygienic.

campion · 19/02/2022 23:09

Yanbu and I bet there was a loo there to deal with the contents. So that's where they should have been.

DrManhattan · 19/02/2022 23:10

I would have said something, that's gross.

Cherrysoup · 19/02/2022 23:11

Grim. I’d have complained.

I was in hospital once for some time. The lady next to me couldn’t get to the loo and was constipated. She was given meds to make her poo (too much!) The noise and stench was horrific, but it couldn’t be helped, we were all mortified for her, but a toddler with a potty does not need to be public!

fussychica · 19/02/2022 23:14

Totally unacceptable, hope you complained.

Mariposista · 19/02/2022 23:34

How absolutely revolting! Of course it isn’t acceptable.

I m was once in the swimming pool at my health club (quite a nice, expensive one too) and a mother was in there too with her young son. The kid said he needed to pee (fair enough he warned her and didn’t just pee in the pool) and she took him by the hand and led him to the poolside shower and told him to pee there. I was furious seeing this and said excuse me, the family changing room is that way. She have me the filthiest look ever and took the child off. I was like - surely I’m not being unreasonable here - peeing in a shower that we all use????

thefirstmrsrochester · 19/02/2022 23:37

Completely unacceptable.

Classica · 19/02/2022 23:38

Imagine reaching a point in your life where you think it's acceptable to let little Sophie or Harry take a dump in the middle of a restaurant.

Lock 'em up.

Scianel · 19/02/2022 23:38

That is fucking disgusting.

Hospedia · 19/02/2022 23:45

YANBU.

I've potty trained 4 DC and have never felt the need to even take a potty out with me but, for those that do (because there is no definitive "right" way), I'd expect a potty to be taken to/used in the toilets not just plonked down in the middle of rhe dining area. Hygiene issues aside, what about the dignity of that poor child?

saltedBubbly · 20/02/2022 00:31

What did they plan to do with the potty full of turd once it was done - walk past the other diners to go empty it in the actual toilet, or just leave it there stinking throughout their meal?

It's appalling. The pure arrogance of it astounds me

Nanny0gg · 20/02/2022 00:34

So why didn't anyone say something?

fortunenookie · 20/02/2022 00:41

No words except there are no words

Divebar2021 · 20/02/2022 00:43

Poor child too - as someone said where is their privacy and dignity.

Absynthe · 20/02/2022 00:45

Not acceptable at all! Bring a potty by all means and use it in the toilets.

Suzyinthesummertime · 20/02/2022 01:15

Disgusting

HappyDays40 · 20/02/2022 01:54

I complained about someone using one at a soft play after my son put his foot in it. I certainly would complain at a restaurant.
There is necessary reason fir this yo be okay ever.

Spudina · 20/02/2022 01:58

Fucking grim

UserWithNoUserName · 20/02/2022 02:01

Absolutely disgusting behaviour that should get them ejected from the restaurant.

I'm 100% sure someone will be along shortly to defend it, though.
