Toddler using potty in a restaurant

cambs22 · 19/02/2022 23:03

Am I being unreasonable to think that it's not acceptable for a toddler from another family to use their potty in the middle of a restaurant?
For context, it was 6pm and a family friendly place, but we were eating our dinner a couple of tables away as were several other couples and families.

Inexcusable 🤯🤯🤯😱😱😱😳😳😳

ScholesPanda · 20/02/2022 15:58

YANBU. That is absolutely disgusting.

Notimeforaname · 20/02/2022 16:03

Fucking disgusting.
Doesn't matter how old the person is.
No pissing and shitting on the restaurant floor! Potty or not. Christ

Notimeforaname · 20/02/2022 16:03

Accidents are a different story.

Bromse · 20/02/2022 16:04

Goodness me, why did they not take the child and potty to the toilet? It must have been awful and I'm surprised the staff didn't say anything.

okthx · 20/02/2022 16:14

Vile, disgusting. People totally lost the plot.

Giraffesandbottoms · 20/02/2022 17:30

@UserWithNoUserName

Probably not but at least if enough people complained to the restaurant they might say something to the couple. Yuck.

@Moonbabysmum

Yeh, I think you’re better off running to the loo with your toddler held to you, than letting them
Pee in front of a room full of people. Wtf.

Moonbabysmum · 20/02/2022 17:36

@Giraffesandbottoms
It wasn't just a wet bum though (in which case I'd agree), it was full force pouring out, it would have literally been leaving pee over the entire floor, without using opportunity to clean it up, and for people to slip in 😱

The question is, would you rather the pee that's coming out, and isn't stopping, be caught in a container, or splattered across a cafe?

I'm not sure there's a right or wrong in that kind of situation.

Moonbabysmum · 20/02/2022 17:40

letting them Pee in front of a room full of people. Wtf.

They were already peeing, it was damage control. There was no letting it not letting them pee.. that ship had sailed.

rainyskylight · 20/02/2022 17:50

@Moonbabysmum horrible situation for you to be in, you must have been mortified! Running across the room with a pouring pee toddler definitely not the best option. Imagine if she squirmed and somehow got it on someone.

Chitchattypatty · 20/02/2022 17:52

Good lord no! Gross.

Beastieboys · 20/02/2022 17:55

Patients do not need to defecate in the ward. They must have been on a wheeled commode and that can be wheeled to go over a toilet in a toilet cubicle........ Totally appalling, dehumanising and disgusting!!

balalake · 20/02/2022 17:55

@Moonbabysmum I think your situation seemed to be different from that of the family the OP refers to.

As for the instance the OP refers to, unacceptable and you should have complained, even just saying where the toilets were would be something.

Some can't get out of bed easily or at all. If it takes 15 minutes to get them up, onto the wheeled commode, detached from drips, attached to portable oxygen etc, they may well have already been to the toilet by the time the staff start to get them out to the toilet cubicle.
Babyvenusplant · 20/02/2022 18:05

@Cherrysoup

Grim. I’d have complained.

I was in hospital once for some time. The lady next to me couldn’t get to the loo and was constipated. She was given meds to make her poo (too much!) The noise and stench was horrific, but it couldn’t be helped, we were all mortified for her, but a toddler with a potty does not need to be public!

Thats completely different and totally irrelevant to this situation

You understand that some people in hospital are kind of unwell, and not able to get out of bed or be detached from drops/oxygen/machines and taken to the toilet?
AllOfUsAreDead · 20/02/2022 18:12

What kind of animals do we have masquerading as people in britain? Ew...

These kind of people shouldn't be allowed kids. If you're that dim and your standards are that low, that kid doesn't stand a chance in life. God knows what standards are like at home if that is acceptable on public.

"Was it a Hungry Horse? Sounds like the sort of thing thst would go on at our local one 🤢"

Sparklingbrook
"We have a fairly local Hungry Horse. Sticky tables and menus and Ping food a speciality. Slush Puppie with your meal. A potty on the floor would be a definite possibility. Grin"

I can picture this at our^ local Hungry Horse as well! It sort of fits with the ambience of the place! 🤣

StoneofDestiny · 20/02/2022 18:18

Grim - totally unnecessary - take the child to the toilet!
If that's what they do in public, what the hell goes on in their homes?

I'd have complained.
