Music gig at 17 weeks pregnant

Hi just after advice on a dilemma.
Pre pregnancy I agreed to go to a gig with a friend. It's now 2 weeks away. I'll be just over 17 weeks. They've asked if I'm still comfortable going.

On the one hand I do want to go. I'm feeling fine in myself now during second trimester, could happily stand for the evening etc. I would stay near the back away from the bouncier crowd and I don't want to stop everything just cause I'm pregnant. I was looking forward to it.

On the other hand, it'll be loud, crowded and probably with a fairly lively crowd (rock gig). I also don't want to ruin my friends night if they would rather be in the crowd but will feel they have to hang back with me.

What would you do?

YABU - go and enjoy
YANBU - don't go, too risky

I would just go. Tbh 17 weeks is still pretty early on.

MrWhippyBloon · 19/02/2022 11:10

Go and enjoy! I'm sure if it's a good friend they won't mind staying towards the back with you.

Sciurus83 · 19/02/2022 11:16

Just don't go in the mosh pit

Totalwasteofpaper · 19/02/2022 11:18

As someone who is currently 38/39 weeks pregnant - Go and enjoy....

Butterbegood · 19/02/2022 11:20

Not risky! I went to lots of gigs when I was heavily pregnant both times but I’m not a mosh pit kind of girl so wouldn’t have been up at the front anyway!

FujiIX · 19/02/2022 11:23

Go and enjoy

Deborah Conway was loud on stage until quite late in pregnancy. Every pregnancy is different. Do what feels possible to you to do.

I went to Glastonbury at around 17 weeks I think... maybe a little over 17 weeks. I had a wonderful time. I did have a straightforward pregnancy and I felt well. If you feel up to it, go for it!!

DysmalRadius · 19/02/2022 14:05

I went to gigs throughout my first pregnancy (last gig was the night before I went into labour) and was fine - I'd say make the most of it while you can as I went to far fewer gigs once he was born!!

Our vicar's wife went to see AC/DC at 39 weeks Grin

MrsT84 · 19/02/2022 14:24

I went to an all dayer when I was about 36 weeks pregnant with my first. Go an enjoy yourself!

MyDcAreMarvel · 19/02/2022 14:26

Ask to change your ticket to sitting. You risk your stomach getting knocked abs you shouldn’t be standing for long periods.

WineIsMyMainVice · 19/02/2022 14:30

I went to my last gig at 38 weeks! Go ahead and enjoy!

Mackmama · 19/02/2022 14:39

I went to a couple of gigs during pregnancy and was just careful about not going too far forward into the crowds. I also left just before the end at one of them so I could make sure I didn’t get squashed but that was a big stadium gig and I was about 6 months pregnant xx

theremustonlybeone · 19/02/2022 14:42

I went to lots of gigs and clubs when I was pregnant with my first. Go and enjoy yourself

Footballsundays6777 · 19/02/2022 14:44

I’d go… I went to New York and vegas whilst 20 weeks pregnant and various shows there and a residency in Vegas.

CarrieBlue · 19/02/2022 14:44

I wouldn’t but that’s because covid hasn’t gone away.

If you’re not bothered by that in pregnancy then go - I went to gigs at 35 weeks and the lovely venue staff found me a chair when it got a bit too much (helped that she used to be one of my students!)

notacooldad · 19/02/2022 14:48

Just don't go in the mosh pit
I was on the edge of the mosh pit at around 36 weeks when I went to see Terrorvision. DH was really not impressed with me.

I went to another gig around the same time, I can't remember who it was but it was a metal band at the Apollo in Manchester and my sister was being ridiculously overprotective, telling anyone that came near me to be careful 'She's pregnant!' (ffs!!)
At 37 weeks I drove to Liverpool from Lancaster to see Patti Smith. The worse bit of that night was trying to find parking as there was a load of road works and I don't know Liverpool well!

Assuming everything is going ok and you are well 17 weeks is nothing!

I went to a gig at 38 weeks pregnant. Had my maternity notes in my car in case I went into labour!
Started sitting up in the balcony but ended up down at the front, near the side where there was more space. People took one look at me and gave me a wide berth! Had a great night (oh, and it was a band no-one I knew was into so I’d gone by myself!!)

Go have fun!

feellikeanalien · 19/02/2022 14:49

I went to see Genesis at large stadium gig when I was about 20 weeks. It was great and DD is now a big Genesis fan!!Smile

LetticeLeaf · 19/02/2022 14:51

I did Glastonbury when I was 7 months pregnant, was great, just made sure to stand back from mosh pits etc

x2boys · 19/02/2022 14:58

I went to see Guns and roses when I was about 19/20 weeks pregnant I would ,not recommend it but tbf Axel was about 2 hours late on stage which didnt help .

Hesma · 19/02/2022 15:31

I was doing Zumba and jumping around soft play with my toddler until a week before my younger DD arrived. Go and have fun 🤩

notacooldad · 19/02/2022 15:33

Who are you going to see anyway? I forget to ask in my post.

Sleepyteach · 19/02/2022 15:40

Go for it! I saw Green Day around the same point and had the best time! DD loves them now too! Not sure if I’d do it later knowing what I know now, as loud music sent her wild to the point of it being quite unpleasant when I was further along - we went to a wedding with a brass band around 26 weeks and I had to leave early because DD was kicking and flipping so much!
