Idiots on harbour walls in this storm

I've just seen this photo on BBC News of a wave twice the height of a harbour wall, with at least 10 people standing on the wall itself. Is a thrill or a good pic for Instagram really worth risking your life and those of the lifeboat service? Where do all these idiots come from?!

I have no words. People who ‘live witnessing the power of the sea’ I’m sure, while stupid enough to think it won’t be them!

mnahmnah · 18/02/2022 12:55

*love

BiggerBoat1 · 18/02/2022 12:56

Darwin awards

RishiRich · 18/02/2022 12:57

Oops, sorry. That pic's bad enough but this one shows even more people.

Like last year when a mum went out on a pier with her toddler in a buggy! It is a miracle they managed to get them out of the water.

Risking your own life - your choice. Risking the lives of others who try to rescue you - awful.

FourChimneys · 18/02/2022 13:00

I know the lifeboat crews have a brilliant ethos but they should be forced not to attempt to rescue people like that. Idiots can choose to risk death but not expect any help.

NumericalBlock · 18/02/2022 13:03

That's insane. Absolute twats the lot of them.

CornishTiger · 18/02/2022 13:05

There should be an offence created about endangering others through your reckless actions

GastroNuisance · 18/02/2022 13:06

Bloody hell. Awful!

Akire · 18/02/2022 13:07

Seen plenty where I am In red zone (city)
even toddlers on balance bikes and babies and toddlers going out for walk when we have bits fence and other rubbish blown around. You know it’s bad when even pizza motor bikes riders are stopping and starting!

itsgettingweird · 18/02/2022 13:12

Irresponsible entitled dicks.

They aren't risking their own lives (well they are) but the lives of those who rescue them. Many of whom are volunteers with their own families.

Dreamingof3 · 18/02/2022 13:13

If they need assistance from the rnli then they should be fined

Pyri · 18/02/2022 13:14

I just came here to post on this. Unbelievable. What fucking idiots honestly

Imtoooldforallthis · 18/02/2022 13:14

I totally agree, but often think the same about people that do certain extreme sports.

heyitsthistle · 18/02/2022 13:18

YANBU. It shocks me.

InTheNameOfAllThatIsHonest · 18/02/2022 13:21

Or not given it.

They probably voted for Brexit too.

I was just coming on to say exactly this.

Luckily for you we don't have the death sentence for idiocy in this country. The incredible volunteers of the RNLI have rather nobler motivations.
Emanchego · 18/02/2022 13:40

Proof I'm not the stupidest bell end out there.

prettyteapotsplease · 18/02/2022 13:41

I was once told that the world is full of fools and this rather proves it, doesn't it?

Porcupineintherough · 18/02/2022 13:43

@Lockheart so do they have the right to say "nope, too dangerous, not turning out" then?
