Fish and Chips

Newmortgage · 15/02/2022 18:06

Ordered fish and chips for tea, told the fish will be done fresh so 8-10 minutes - not a problem.
Lads wrap up the bags of chips and pop in the hot counter thing next to the sausages/pies etc.

Person A thinks the chips should be wrapped up once the fish is ready or the chips go soggy and smushed together

Person B thinks this is fine and Person A is making a fuss over nothing

Who is being unreasonable?

They should be fresh.

The chips should be wrapped fresh once the fish is ready

TTstormtrooper · 15/02/2022 18:08

Person B is wrong.

I would be asking for a fresh bag of chips once my fish was done.

IzzyD0ra · 15/02/2022 18:08

Person A is correct.

MrsDThomas · 15/02/2022 18:08

Person A - I would be that person and point it out too.

ghostyslovesheets · 15/02/2022 18:11

B but I like smushy chips

SummaLuvin · 15/02/2022 18:11

With an 8-10 minute wait I would expect the chips the to be packed up only once the fish is done/almost done so the chips aren't sitting waiting for an extra amount of time.

However, a 10 minute wait won't ruin them, my best chippy is a 10 minute drive away and the chips are still excellent by the time I'm home - that being said I'm not sure about a 10 minute wait at chippy then 10 in the car.

SmolCat · 15/02/2022 18:13

Person A is correct. Person B is either a conflict avoider or a psychopath who loves chip mush (sorry ghosty).

LizzieSiddal · 15/02/2022 18:13

Shock Of course the chips should only be wrapped once the fish is ready! I’d have asked for fresh chips!

LizzieSiddal · 15/02/2022 18:14

Fresh chips all the way.

The horror.

PlanetNormal · 15/02/2022 18:16

Person A is correct. I would insist on fresh chips to be wrapped when the fish was ready.

EverydayIsPJday · 15/02/2022 18:16

ChittyBangs · 15/02/2022 18:18

Yarnivore · 15/02/2022 18:20

LizzieSiddal · 15/02/2022 18:21

God, I'm so glad we are having fish and chips tonight! Haven't had them for ages, and I'm looking forward to it more than anything.

Person A is right by the way!

dementedpixie · 15/02/2022 18:27

Do they not put the fish on top of the chips so you'd wait for the chips to be ready before wrapping anything

StoneofDestiny · 15/02/2022 18:28

Yes person A is right

apintofwine · 15/02/2022 18:32

YABU for having a chippy tea on a Tuesday. Fish and chips is for Friday

iklboo · 15/02/2022 18:33

Person A is definitely correct. The chips should be wrapped when the fish is ready.

WonderfulYou · 15/02/2022 18:42

Person A is correct.
I’ve never known a chippy to not serve up the chips once everything else is done.

Although I’ve obviously taken chips home that have been wrapped and left for over 10mins and they tasted fine.
