Showering daily is definitely on the list, oral hygiene, clean clothes. But what else looks like impeccable personal hygiene and good grooming to you?

Neat nails

KaptainKaveman · 14/02/2022 14:57

Perfume / cologne / aftershave.

lastqueenofscotland · 14/02/2022 14:58

Clean, well kept nails, washed and well kept hair.

CailleachGranda · 14/02/2022 14:59

Clean nails, hair, ears and fresh breath

Royalbloo · 14/02/2022 15:00

People who visit the dentist

fallfallfall · 14/02/2022 15:00

Nails, brushed hair, appropriate socks.

CheltenhamLady · 14/02/2022 15:01

As above and then, clean hair, neat eyebrows, pressed clothes which match and are accessorised properly. Dressed for the occasion, whatever that may be.

Comvit · 14/02/2022 15:01

Clean nails are the biggest thing for me. I always take time to look at people's nails. If they're a bit grubby, I immediately assume poor hygiene (unless there's an obvious reason for dirty nails).

Clean teeth as well. I can't stand discoloured teeth. It makes me think they're either a smoker or they drink lots of strong tea/coffee. Either way, stinky breath.

Filthyslattern · 14/02/2022 15:01

clean body, clean hair, clothes sleeping on clean sheets and living in a clean home.

Comvit · 14/02/2022 15:03

@KaptainKaveman

Perfume / cologne / aftershave.
I don't see fragrances as a sign of impeccable hygiene at all. In fact, most of them smell quite musty and sweaty to me - on myself and other people. Men's aftershave especially reminds me of sweaty, smelly teenage boys who reek of Lynx but haven't showered in a week Grin
Mushrooms0up · 14/02/2022 15:04

Impeccable would be:

Daily showering
Brushing teeth twice a day, plus flossing / mouthwash
Deodorant
Subtle perfume
Clean and ironed clothes
Clean shoes
Tidy hair, well cut and clean

Clean, well cared for nails

Bathed or showered daily, clean hair, clean teeth, clean clothes.

MrsGHarrison87 · 14/02/2022 15:10

Good grooming would be make up and styled hair.

SalsaLove · 14/02/2022 15:12

Shower, clean teeth, deodorant, tidy nails. Every day.

TenRedThings · 14/02/2022 15:16

If you are a manual worker and live in the countryside it's almost impossible to keep clean nails, even if your hygiene is great.

Comvit · 14/02/2022 15:19

As I said, unless there are good reasons for dirty nails.

If you're not a manual worker who lives in the countryside, clean your nails you mucky mare.

Neat nails
I wish I could master this! My nails always look scruffy and I'm so embarrassed by them as I'm a nurse and feel my hands should look spotless. I scrub my nails and keep them short but they still look messy as the edges go all snaggy and dry from all the gel and handwashing.
UniBallEye · 14/02/2022 15:22

For me it would be:
Shower daily
clean hands / nails
Short, neat nails
Teeth brushed 2 x day
good deodorant used daily
Clean underwear daily
Clean t-shirt / shirt daily
clean socks every day
suitable shoes for whatever occasion
nice perfume / cologne
cared for hair
general care for appearance - suitable clothing for whatever occasion
clean bedding regularly
clean living quarters

pawpaws2022 · 14/02/2022 15:22

Properly washing and not just sloshing shower gel around. I wash with bar soap then shower gel and legs, feet, the lot
Interdental brushss or floss, brushing tongue

MrsMoastyToasty · 14/02/2022 15:23

Trimmed hair and beards on men.

VanillaSpiceCandle · 14/02/2022 15:23

Six monthly trips to the dentist and hygienist. It’s amazing the amount of time, effort and money people are willing to put into grooming but they don’t do this.

I’ll add a summery one, clean feet, short, clean nails and not lots of visible dry, rough skin on feet. Obviously you can’t always help a bit though.

DysmalRadius · 14/02/2022 15:26

Surely hygiene simply extends to everything being clean. Whether or not someone has their hair styled the way you would isn't anything to do with their hygiene levels.

Bunce1 · 14/02/2022 15:27

Shoes that match the outfit/occasion

There is a man that does the school run who wears shitty joggers with brown dress shoes. Or sometimes he wears dark chinos with bad trainers.
Even if he just swapped the shoes over it would be an improvement!

Nah, i don't think pressed and matched clothes/accessories are about hygiene... I frequently wear mismatched outfits that havent been ironed because I cant be bothered, but i am always clean and fresh (as are my rumpled clothes)
