What does impeccable personal hygiene look like you?

Showering daily is definitely on the list, oral hygiene, clean clothes. But what else looks like impeccable personal hygiene and good grooming to you?

OP posts:
Rainallnight · 14/02/2022 15:29

Ugh I’ve got great personal hygiene but awful bitten nails and cuticles. Realise now how much everyone judges that and might think I’m grimy Sad

Topseyt · 14/02/2022 15:30

Daily shower and twice daily brushing of teeth. Clean underwear and t-shirt daily. Good handwashing after using the toilet. Use of deodorant.

Yerroblemom1923 · 14/02/2022 15:34

As above. Why do you ask, op? Are you struggling? Is there a friend or colleague you're concerned about?

buddylucious · 14/02/2022 15:35

White teeth

buddylucious · 14/02/2022 15:38

This doesn't have anything to do with hygiene, but it gives off the look off someone who is hygienic:

Your white clothes (shirts etc) are a lovely clean white, not going grey!

My kids school shirts and vests etc gleam Smile

CheltenhamLady · 14/02/2022 15:42

@1000yellowdaisies

The OP also refers to grooming.

ABitBesottedWithMyDog · 14/02/2022 15:42

Clean nails are the biggest thing for me. I always take time to look at people's nails. If they're a bit grubby, I immediately assume poor hygiene

I'm guessing you aren't a gardener, farmer, or outdoorsy, or a painter... you'd hate me.Grin

OP, I think daily bathing covers it. Clean sheets once a week. Quick hairbrush when you get too bagladyish.

Leftbutcameback · 14/02/2022 15:53

Clean short nails! I remember taking a nail brush to a festival camping because I hate dirty nails. There were no showers.

1forAll74 · 14/02/2022 15:59

Just being clean and fresh in many ways, which is not always possible if you do a lot of garden work , and diy work like me.. i prefer people with impeccable behaviour, and manners, but many fall short on this aspect.. Too much swearing, especially from women and some children now. All this highly fragrant bodily cleaning, doesn't always mean that there is a lovely person underneeath it all.

Laiste · 14/02/2022 16:03

I would say impeccable hygiene and impeccable grooming are two different things.

Hygiene is ... cleanliness i suppose and grooming is the fancy stuff on top like make up, and hair do.

Loopytiles · 14/02/2022 16:04

‘Impeccable’ seems a strange measure.

Hygiene and grooming are different things.

MargaretFromAccts · 14/02/2022 16:13

Hate the assumption that teeth colour is solely due to hygiene and people judge so much for it.

Teeth aren't naturally pearly white and discolouration like florisis is common and a genetic factor.

Or maybe I'm projecting because I'm embarrassed about my own (clean 2x a day , mouthwash, had braces, retainer and still have maligned not pearly teeth :( )

Useranon1 · 14/02/2022 16:14

How do you keep nails clean when out and about? Handwashing doesn't do it for my nails and I'm not carrying a nail brush around with me!

SpaghettiArmsMurderer · 14/02/2022 16:16

Natural nails. Fake nails are always a bit suspect for me. And I don’t think showering daily is necessary.

Noisyneighneigh · 14/02/2022 16:27

I do like a bit of perfume after a shower to help that fresh feeling last but isn't part of impeccable personal hygiene, neither is makeup.

Daily shower. Cleaned teeth free of food. Clean and trimmed nails. Clean clothes especially a fresh t-shirt each day. Washed and combed hair. Isn't that really it?

Yerroblemom1923 · 14/02/2022 16:37

@SpaghettiArmsMurderer kwym about false nails, you've no idea what germs are harbouring beneath them. Clean neat natural, unbitten, nails are usually a good hint at decent hygiene. I appreciate it's not easy for jobs such as gardening, etc but I always wear gloves when out digging.

godmum56 · 14/02/2022 16:52

@fallfallfall

Nails, brushed hair, appropriate socks.
appropriate socks hahahahahaha do navy socks with glittery owls on count?
JustBlethering · 14/02/2022 16:58

Clean nails, clothes and shoes

Chocolatefreak · 14/02/2022 17:02

@pawpaws2022 I wash with bar soap then shower gel and legs, feet, the lot

Washing twice seems a little excessive

thepeopleversuswork · 14/02/2022 17:03

All of the above but do you really need "impeccable" personal hygiene?

Good personal hygiene is enough for me.

Showering/bathing daily
Clean teeth
Clean hair
Clean clothes
Fresh breath
Not smelling

The above is good enough for me. I wouldn't expect to be inspecting someone's nails or how well their hair is styled and brushed or whether they had stained teeth. There's a point at which good hygiene tips over into being anal neurosis.

Laiste · 14/02/2022 17:20

''Impeccable'' makes me think of American Psycho Grin

ImaginaryFriends · 14/02/2022 17:23

Agree with the PPs shower, nails etc. also older men get rid of the nasal and ear hair.

Nothing worse than seeing someone's nose hair waving at you, or worse not having a clean nose because of it Envy

This also goes for women with nasal hair.

JaneJeffer · 14/02/2022 17:24

Is this for The Sun as well?

Woeismethischristmas · 14/02/2022 17:26

Bathed, clean hair, nails, teeth and clothes. Well groomed is a slightly different thing, stylish clothes, make up styled hair. It’s possible to have excellent hygiene but not be well groomed. I think you’d struggle to be well groomed without good hygiene.

Doyouknowtheway · 14/02/2022 17:27

If I can smell your washing detergent as you pass me I'll assume you're clean and fresh.
Ear wax, crusty eyes, dirt in their nails and any smells at the start of the working day means they've skipped a shower or wash that morning.
